Northern Lights, Tan. Dream, Blueberry!

Welcome to Week 8...3rd week of flowering! Day 53: Feeling pretty positive about how things are going! About 4 days back I did give a heavy-handed feeding to all the plants to shake the mild mid-plant yellowing that a couple had. That's left some nutrient burn spots here and there, but not awful and not that I'll worry about it. I also did a watering/flush a few days back (pH 6.5 well water) and the soil is still pretty damp, though I think it was the right and important thing to do. Today is the first day that it seems like the bud-bodies are starting to chunk up. The tallest is still just under 20 inches but the plants don't seem to mind and they're putting on biomass in the right places. Once the soil dries in another day or two, I'll re-feed them with a more reasonable amount of nutrients weighted to bloom side of things. Spun plants 180 degrees to get even light coverage. They may be short in stature, but I'm happy with what they're doing. Since this is my first round, I'll be pretty happy no matter what the end result is, and they're already exceeding what I was worried for in the mid-vegetative phase, where I wasn't sure anything would produce. Day55: Why good morning, gentle readers & friends. A day of work-from-home, means doing some grow-upkeep on the company dime! I've added an intake fan, more on that later. The flush watering I did early in the week has finally dried enough to feed today. Back to a fairly mild GH Trio flowering stage blend, heavier on the Bloom & lighter on the Micro. Each plant got a full 1 gallon of feed/water, which for most was at the point of runoff. The Bigger Northern LIghts (NL#1) not surprisingly didn't run off even @ a gallon, but was close. Took the time to bring 'em out of their control environment to get some better pictures for y'all! Not perfect, and as mentioned before some minor burn here and there, but overall I'm pleased, given the diminutive size of the plants overall. I do have to say that I'm quite pleased at the 'spread' which gives most of them a good 4 or so colas for bud development. Added a AC Infinity Cloudline S6 for an intake fan last night. A few bumps in the road for setup (not final setup yet, just testing). When plugging the intake into the same controller as the exhaust fan I was hoping that between the two they'd remain in fairly close neutral pressure in the tent. Alas, with the carbon filter and extra ducting up above, the S6 was just pumping too much air and I was getting way too much positive pressure in the tent. In the end, I decided rather than set the controller for Auto (pick highs and lows for temp/RH and the fan ramps up or down accordingly), It worked best to use the small controller that came with the S6 and set it at about a quarter speed, then set the exhaust fan to 7 or 8 for speed above. That did the trick and the tent maintains a slight negative pressure. The offshoot of all this is that now the tent really does reflect the 'room environment' much closer. It still runs warmer by a few degrees but is more stable and the RH has dropped down to match room RH (46-49%). So overall that's a win. Considering getting a second digital (T6) style controller for the S6 then ganging the sensors together...set the intake fan a few notches below the exhaust fan speed and set them for the same triggers. That may be a slicker implementation. Days 56/57: No real action here. Played around with tent ventilation, tried a few different sets of fan settings ended up running the exhaust at 8 out of 10 and the intake at 4 out of 10 which gave just a little bit of negative pressure. I suppose should I need to bring it down a bit, I can drop it to something like 6/3 or 5/2 and have that work too. Also keeping an eye on DLI/PPFD to make sure things are riding where I want them. The tallest bud tips should be seeing under 55DLI and the tips of the lower plants should be in that 42-47 range. Because Science! Day 58: Dry enough to give 'em a watering; still on an every-other water/feed schedule. For the soil I have that means a feed-skip-skip-water schedule. Today I dragged 'em outside to see them in real daylight. Plants look pretty good. There's some positive greening and there's no additional presentation of burn or imbalance. Yesterday I saw the first handful of orange pistils, so we're moving along at a reasonable speed. Water to runoff looks like a gallon per plant right now. Watering slowly (rotating through with .75 liter per plant until all 4 gallons are gone) but that seems to work well with the bags. Again feeling pretty happy and positive with how things are going. Interesting that all the plants look entirely different from each other. Seems like they're doing well and what they should...not because of me, but in spite of me.
