Week 9 (4th week of flower): Day 60: Well good morning sweetpea! Welcome to a new week. In all honesty, no real action to start the week. Monday (day 58's) watering is still holding in the soil until at least tomorrow, and probably until morning of Day 62. Plants will get moved temporarily out of the room tomorrow for a bit while we have an appliance guy here working on the dishwasher...so plants will need to be out of the tent (next to the boiler & breaker-panel for a bit. Not to worry too much, since it's a legal state and this is a grey area grow right now. Day 61: Woke up early and removed all plants from grow tent and secreted them up in our guest room in the lap of luxury. Had a call in to the dishwasher repairman and while the call was 9am, he arrived at 4.30pm promptly! The grow tent wasn't moved but was minimized so that if anyone needed to access the breaker board it was noticeable but not occupied. Took the time to clean the floor pan and do some reorganization, so it's now neater and cleaner. I guess I could have fed tonight, but decided that tomorrow was a better option. Still working on NL#1 who has the best growth and bud formation but still has lemon-lime leaves. Did a soil slurry pH test and it sat right at 6.7, so I'm pretty happy with that. Will lean in a little bit to the Cal/Mag and the Nitrogen side of the feed for that one tomorrow. Day 62: Feed day. Followed the GH 'light' chart for trio but at half strength, then backed off the PPM to hit 550ish. That's about 220 for the water and the rest for nutrients. I may hit a little harder (round 500 for nutrients plus water in the future. I also posted the grow question below (lemon lime yellow of my NL#1) and did some back and forth here as well as on the RIU forum...decided that there was a good chance I'm experiencing lockout along with some other setup issues. I decided after the morning feed...about 4 hours later to do a thorough flush of NL#1 since it was still wet from the feed water of the morning and there's no point of feeding if it's not going to take up anything. I did check the EC/PPM of the morning's run-off but it was partially evaporated and definitely that added to being inaccurately high (3000ppm/1.5EC)...though I know that wasn't the real number, probably in the mid 2000's. Flushed 5 gallons of water through NL#1 and ended up at a runoff of 330ish PPM (not bad given the water is 220), and on the back-end gave the same half strength nutrients that I'd fed in the morning. Day 63: Rest day. Day 64: to address some of the issues in the tent that NL#1 was bearing some of the brunt of, I raised the lighting to have the bud-top sites at ~43 DLI or so. Adjusted all plants as well. I think that should help with what in NL#1 looks like light stress up top with some canoeing. The other thing I did is adjust the fans...In case it's also some wind-stress as well. The two smaller Honeywell fans in my setup even at their slowest setting put out a pretty good 'beam' of airstream and I've been concerned that it's too much, especially 24/7. Put to work some smart-plugs in the tent. Each fan now does 1-hour-on/ 1-hour-off and they're slightly staggered so there's some time where both are on for about 10 minutes and some time where both are off for 10 minutes. I also put a third plug in, automated a 6" oscillating clip fan that's less powerful and sits above the canopy top that blows gently across in a 3-hour on/off cycle. Put in some sticky traps for fungus gnats, which haven't been awful but are a minor annoyance. Removed dead/yellow fan leaves at the bottom from NL#1. Day 65 Rest day; by my morning peep in the tent shows plants seem happier. Day 66: Watering day. All plants seem happier with the last feeding and the tent changes made. Pictures added. This morning I watered 3 of the plants (not the NL#1 which got flooded back on D62 and has more moisture in the soil still. All plants were dry down to 2-3" deep. Watered with the usual well water adjusted to ~650pH and reading around 330ppm/.66EC. Each plant was watered to a flush at a rate of 2 gallons per plant with about 50% runoff. PPM checked on first sign of runoff at about 1300ppm/2.6EC and after water/flush down to ~400ppm/.80EC. So fairly close to tabla-rasa for our next feed at the end of the week. NL1 will be watered tonight or tomorrow am. It shows signs of greening and looks better to my eye.

Are these on track or slow/low? 1st time grow, 3 auto varieties. Today is the 14th day since seeds hit the soil. They look healthy, but they're all only 1.5" to 2" tall. Do I need to raise my lights? They're currently @ 14" above the leaves with 1x225wLED & 2x 32wLED.

They may be a bit over watered. Can't really comment on light hight ad unformiliar with it. With my lights it's about 18 inch above in veg, also your going need to pot up to your final container.

Brown spots on my Auto Blueberry...What's causing this? They weren't there yesterday. Haven't moved my lights. Fed (GH Trio,CALiMAGic) Tuesday, watered today (Fri). pH runoff = 6.5 Temp@77f, Hum=58% None of my others (NL & Tan.Dream auto) have it.

Anyone have a quick and easy rule/suggestion for PPFD & lux for plants in Seedling, Vegetative & Flowering states? Lots of divergent answers online. At plant top right now I'm currently at ~1000PPFD and the lux readings are 49,000-51,000. What are 'best practices' for this?

Lowest numbers to hit: Seedlings: 200-300 ฮผMols Vegetative: 306 ฮผMols Flowering: 463 ฮผMols If you want to increase the amount of light from 20 to 40 moles per day, resulting in higher yields, you simply need to double the numbers above, but not the Seedling stage โ€“ 308 PPFD to 616 PPFD during the vegetative phase, and 463 PPFD to 925 PPFD during the flowering phase. Seedlings: 200-300 ฮผMols Vegetative: 617 ฮผMols Flowering: 925 ฮผMols Best of luck and happy growing my friend.

My auto blueberry just started showing some yellowing mid-plant. It's first/second week of flower. Thoughts on what she needs? None of the others have it (Tangerine Dream & Northern Lights). Doesn't show signs of overwater. More deets below.

This Northern Lights auto is being vexatious...I can't get rid of the yellowing towards the bottom. Not overwatered, I've tried beefing up the nutrients, etc. with no effect. Any thoughts or do I just writing off as she's just being a jerk? Other plants in this grow are fine.

OK dli is good, 60 is max.. but, if the dli is given to intense (to close light) the leaf turn upwards like yours, so you might back light a little. 4-7 cm? problem with ppm is that is no standard definition of it. sometimes 700ppm =1 ec. sometimes 500ppm =1 ec?? its just a mess. it depends on your reader. So anyway, i dont know how much 500-800 ppm is. You should however be between 1.2 - 2 EC for soil flowering. make sure you measure the run-off water.. if its a lot less then what you feed them, they need more nuets. (EC target need sometimes even go up to 2.2-2,6 ec ... if strain demands, typical indica to need much and sativa little.. or if you are doing hydro/coco that also needs more EC.) Anyway about your nuets,, i read only 1/2 strength nutrient and that's not good. I too use GHE tripart, their seedling feed where spot on EC-target. (with my water). I think GHE have good ec targets in mind when design feedchart, but of course your water quality also plays a part.. but i would just go full strength mate. atleast for 2-3 watering and see what happens

Just chopped my first 4 plants, all auto. Did 2x Northern Lights, 1 Blueberry, 1 Tangerine Dream. I have enough seeds for a few more rounds. But I should probably pick one type & do 4. Help me pick! BB are fussy, TD are more Sativa, NL are classic. Thoughts?

@BeautifulCraftRreddit Leaning towards the NL's too, given they did pretty well no matter how badly I butchered them...and also I just have more of those seeds. I have 8 on hand still. Though soonish I'd like to move over from autos to photoperiod so I can have more control over things and try my hand at more training techniques.

@ BeautifulCraftRreddit; Yeah, the Blueberry was more prone to conditional problems, sensitive to nutrient burn, etc. And it was also the first to hit flower-fade at the end of its time. It helped convince me that it wasn't the best to run 3 different strains at the same time. At the same point, if I'm running 4 of the same thing, it's easier to tailor the feed to that one strain, and dial that in, I think. On the other hand, I have 8 NL seeds (I originally bought 10 NL, and 5's of the others). And those plants just GREW the best. Once I got used to them, they did well and even with all my abuse they were very forgiving. The Tangerine Dream is the one strain that's heavier on the Sativa...but the one I grew was really dense and tight and was a mutant that only ever developed 3-lobe leaves that always pointed downwards. So this round I ended with a bunch of reasonable indica heavy stuff and less sativa, so there's some draw to balancing it out. I'm going to move to Pro-Mix and stay with all my other common elements but get some good myco for next run. I'm also going to start out in .75g pots instead of cups.

@LeastExpectedGrower LYeah I did the same thing as you, tested out a gelato, sour diesel and purple lemonade all at the same time and mid grow was thinking how I should have done just one. I went dry amendments so I didn't have to really worry about feeding just watering but the sour diesel just wasn't letting up on how much cal mag she wanted

@Grower2021253, Surprisingly cheap. I have mine updating every 30 minutes (while I'm away at work I can see how things are unfolding). I recently adjusted it to reflect what the meter on my AC Infinity controller says, since I'm guessing that is fairly accurate. I also have some smart plugs that I can trigger extra fans, etc. when I'm away from the house. Right now no matter what it looks brutal since the exterior temps are 85-90f during the day and 75-85% humidity. My dehumidifiers can mostly keep up but it's keeping grow tent conditions a little warmer than ideal!

Those swings you mentioned are why we only run a veg tent down there..humidity is rough in the summer but perfect all winter, we typically pick tropical/heat resistant strains for the summer indoors and heavy indica outside (or inside during the winter) our GDP run was a fluke, Grower's Choice decided to send us all autoflowers (..again ๐Ÿ™„) and of all the GDP seeds we got 1 photoperiod, so we took 6-7 clones, vegged them and flowered them with mom indoors... that GDP took the heat better than my Kush lol, I still can't explain that lol
LeastExpectedGrower
LeastExpectedGrowercommented3 years ago
@Kitties_and_Colas, that's at least a cool work-around and a nice way to think around corners. I do all basement (we don't have an attic), but the basement is the most consistent zone for us across a season, where our living space is all over the place depending on the day's weather. Also, we're prone to house guests and gatherings. Once we really hit fall, the humidity will naturally drop at basement level into the 20-40% range for Fall/Winter/Spring and the room with the tent will remain in the 65-75 range, so summer is the real challenge. This first growing experience has been a challenge in a lot of ways, but also has been a great learning/researching experience, so I'm not at all sorry that it's been tough. Luckily I don't have my hopes pinned on a big harvest for it. In reality, most of what we do will go towards edible projects anyway.
