A few things have changed for me since my last grow.
The biggest being that I obtained my medical production license allowing me to cultivate up to 100 plants !
I have done some upgrading to my gear and I am looking forward to trying a few new techniques.
This grow I am using seeds from Garden of Green.
The Strain: Dubble Bubble is a sativa dominant hybrid and was made by crossing two bubble gum strains.
The goal of this grow is to do a preliminary test to begin to determine if Mycelium provides any additional benefits to Cannabis when allowed to colonize in super soil before being added to bottom layer of the pot.
The Process:
1) 8 weeks Prior to Germination Super Soil is mixed (see super Sub cools super soil recipe further down the page) and added to spinning two part composter, water is added and the super soil mix is allowed to break down for a week.
2) 7 weeks Prior To germination 1L of colonized mycelium is added to each side of composter. Mycelium is now allowed to colonize the super soil.
3) After 8 weeks total the Mycelium has had enough time to colonize throughout the super soil mix and is ready to be added to the bottom 1/3rd of the pots. See Pictures for an example of what this looks like.
I use this recipe for the super soil
Subcool’s Super Soil Recipe Improved, Small Batch :
1 ten gallon bag of high quality Organic Potting Soil I use Fox farms Ocean forest.
3 to 6 pounds of Organic Earthworm Castings (1 lb. of casting = about 1 gal.)
10 ounces of Blood Meal ( 10 oz. of blood meal = about 1 & 1/2 cups)
10 ounces of Bloom Bat Guano ( 10 oz. of guano = about 1 cup)
10 ounces Fish Bone Meal ( 10 oz. of bone meal = about 1 cup)
6 ounces Rock Phosphate
1&1/2 tablespoons Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate)
2 tablespoons or 1 oz. (liquid measure)of Dolomite Lime
1 tablespoons or 1/2 oz. (liquid measure) of Azomite (trace elements)
1 teaspoon of powdered Humic Acid
The for My base Soil ( This is the main soil that makes up the 5gallon pot and the super soil is only added to the bottom third layer of the pot )
For each 5 Gallon Pot:
5 L of Pro Mix
2 L Coco Coir
2L Worm Castings
2L Perlite
2L Organic potting soil (fox farms ocean forest)
1 tsp Mycorrhiza
1 tbsp. bat guano
1 tbsp. Dolomite Lime.
I mix this together in a large bucket for each plant individually. This way I can be sure my plants are all getting as close to the same starting soil composition as possible.
I then add the super soil that has been colonized by the mycelium to the bottom 1/3rd of the pot.
Next I add the mixed base soil.
The plants that will be coming into these pots have been vegged for 2-3 weeks and are in red solo cups.
Then I pot each plant and water with a 1/4 dose of Fish Fertilizer, Sea Kelp, Silica and Pro Cal.
The plants will now spend the next 4-6 weeks in veg.
Hopefully the Mycelium will increase root zone uptake as well as help break down soil elements. And who knows maybe it will raise the c02 in the room a little.
All plants are doing very well, there was no transplant shock when they went into the 5g pots at all.
I have noticed vigorous growth and praying leaves.
The plants are all on track to go into the flower room next week.

This is the last week of veg for these Ladies and they are ready to flower for sure !
I will begin scrogging them this week and I will flip the lights next week.

This week I inoculated the room leaves and plants with Neoseiulus cucumeris, I have had minor thrip problems all summer, Usually I use lady bugs to combat them but none have been available this year.
I inoculated the plants by shaking the bottle full of Cucumeris and bran over the leaves. I will do this a few times before pre flowers show.
Cucmeris are predatory mites that eat the thrip larvae. And are supposed to work for spider mites as well.
I added the scrog nets to the room and began training the plants through them.
I then flipped the lights over to 12 and Initiated pre flower.
All vegetative growth was very vigorous.

Lots of nice bud sites developing this week.
These plants had a really nice transition into bud. The lights are just the right height away and I have really dialed in the temp and VPD of the flower room.
I am seeing more vigorous growth than I had in my double bubble without mycelium.
I trimmed under there skirts this week and cleaned up some of the larfy sites.
The plants are doing great despite high temperatures.
They are all scrogging nicely, one out of the bunch didn't like the heat very much and began leaf cupping.
The canopy had some nice bud sites and pistils already. I have fed twice this week with full strength nutrients from Green Planet and the plants seem to be liking it.
I have cleaned up under the canopy a bit more as well.
The thrips seem to be under control I cannot see any in the room so between the Cucmeris mites and the yellow strips and dunking the plants in water I think they are more or less taken care of.
I will keep training the scrog this week and hopefully I can get the temperatures a bit lower before full flower.
Lots of bud sites are starting to fatten up already. The canopy looks great, Very little scrog work to do now as the plants have left the stretch.
Everything is going really well. The thrips I had in previous crops have cleared up thanks to the Cucumeris mites I applied.
The buds are much fatter this go around. Whether that has anything to do with the mycelium we will have to wait to see.
Not much to report this week.
Lots of buds getting fatter. The pots are soaking up 1.30 gallons of water every 3 days. The temps have cooled off quite a bit in the room outside the tent. Day temps are about 78 now and night 65
The buds smell like light pink bubblegum. Its really quite remarkable how nice and bubble gummy the scent is.
I am really enjoying this grow so far.
Almost every plant has very large and dense buds that are giving off the aroma of Pink bubblegum.
Most of the buds are extremely dense for 5 weeks in.
Usually I don't see my plants start to fatten up until the last 2 weeks, as was the case with the previous run I did of double bubble without mycelium.
The smell in the room right now is extremely pleasant.
Everything is looking great !
Super dense buds and a few very distinct pheno-types are showing.
Lots of plumping up has happened in the last week.
They are all being fed full strength nutrients and are loving it.
There is some fade already in a few plants.
I have taken down plants at the end of the 9th week that were not nearly as dense.
The bubble gum smell on 3 of the plants is exceptional 2 of which also have the largest and most dense buds, although there is some smell present in all the phenos.
I am now mothering a clone I took of Double Bubble #6 from the week before these were flipped. I take clones of all the plants going into bud if I don't have a mother for it already.
In this case although I have 4 great distinct pheno types I will only be keeping the best of the best which at this point is #6.
Well everything is almost done.
Excellent bud growth throughout and the room smells so good.
I am seeing a lot of fade and some nice leave coloring ranging from orange to deep purple.
I will be checking every day for trichrome development with my microscope, A few plants look like they will be ready any day now.
Its a good thing I have been checking daily with the microscope as I caught the very begining of bud rot ona top cola.
The bud was just so dense moisture was not escaping. I removed the branch affected and examined the rest of the room I did not find any other signs.
But to be safe I began trimming anyway.
Only 4 days short of a full 65 day flower.
The buds this round were really great. I saw alot of super dense bud growth with fairly large buds.
I cannot say for sure weather the mycelium added to the soil did anything but no other conditions changed this grow and the bud development was certainly better.
Perhaps this is a result of the mycelium breaking down the super soil during its cook/compost time before being added to the pots.
I will report back in again after I have weighed the root balls and the buds have finished the first steps of drying as well as before and after cure.
Well another grow in the books, this one worked out really well I got alot of weight in my final product and the taste and smell are exceptional.
I cannot say whether the mycelium I added to the soil did much, The plants were very happy the entire grow and did not seem to lack nutrients at any point. I did not notice any increase in root mass after inspecting the root balls though. Perhaps the mycelium helped break down nutrients in the root zone for the plants but I cannot be sure.
I will try this experiment again using live mycelium though and we will see if extending the veg time with mycelium in the soil will allow the mycelium to propagate more and thus perhaps provide the boost to the soil I am looking for.
If you want a plant that lives true to its name Dubble Bubble is it. The phenos I grew all had the very strong scent of bubble gum. One particular pheno grew extremely dense buds with a light hint of pink when the buds are ground up. The flavor is incredible with Bubble gum coming through clear as day when you inhale. The effects are very pleasant and buzzy more than sedative. I am extremely pleased with how these plants turned out and I will be keeping my favorite pheno as a mother for some time to come. Great Job On This Garden on Green !😀
