Placed 1” in middle of solo cup after 48 hours soaking in wet paper towels. Pretty simple process. Recommend poking holes or making cuts around the sides and bottom of cup for aeration and drainage.
Spray bottle to keep soil damp as it dries from air circulation & evaporation. Pretty simple process. Watch and feel the leaves to get a handle on the watering schedule. Check the weight of the cup as you adjust water additions so you’ll know about how it feels when properly watered.
Watering until runoff every 2-4 days monitoring medium moisture, cup weight, leaf color, leaf stiffness, and leaf moisture. Transplanted to 5 gallon bag. *Recommend using rock in bottom, soil in the middle, and 50/50 soil/loose no nute top layer in bag to minimize cost, enhance drainage and air flow, and assist root development.
Watered where the root plug was transplanted 3 days a week monitoring leaves and soil.
*Recommend adding nutrients at the level your nutrient line recommends and seek out breeder and strain specific information.
Trained to the side. Watering schedule hasn’t needed adjustment.
*Recommend allowing plant to develop about 2-4” over radius of the bag before training to help prevent stunting growth. The flexibility surprised me.
Increased watering to 1/2 quart every 2-3 days with veg nutrients. Defoliation.
*Recommend to not defoliate really any closer than 3-5 nodes below tops to help avoid stunting growth.
Seemed to have rebounded and filled back in more than I had expected. Rearranged bags to free space for the new growth (upper-left)
*Recommend elevating bags on drainage surface and use something to catch runoff for checking EC and recycle/waste at minimum (various setups with various costs so can choose the right option for your needs)
No significant changes
*Recommend cutting out veg nutrient when flip to flower. I’m not for sure at this point if running the veg nutrient a little into flower cycle is okay or not in order to achieve optimal results.
Noticed abnormal burn to fan leaf tips. I was still running my veg nutrient at this time and was attempting to push the nutrients with no method to verify. Stopped adding any nutrients and purchased ec meter from bluelab.
*Recommend using at minimum EC Meter to check runoff. Then play around with nutrients once you have something to check slurries.
Flushed both bags 10 gallons a piece to get ec down from 4.8 to 0.7 and waited nervously to see if the run was going to require harvesting with only 60% milky trichs.
*Recommend using a jewelry loupe for checking trichs
Increased watering to 1 gallon per day for sort of a flush watering effect. Thankfully the nutrient burn effect on the leaves stopped spreading. Removed damaged leaves and got to move forward with an experience.
*Recommend pre-planning drainage method for your grow space and grow plans suitable to your needs.
No significant changes in the past week. Reduced watering back to 0.5 gallons per day. Trichs are all milky with about 5% amber per viewing area checking all flowers so will probably harvest next week and not get the 8-10 week bulk I’d like to.
Very happy with my first top shelf attempt. It’s good for stress relief and unwinding with a movie but won’t induce sleep by itself. The flowers and fade I got to see were neat and gave me what I’m looking at in the current run of Banana Daddy and Skunk Hero.
