Week 4: Last week before transplant to bigger pot.
What could go wrong?
😢 FIRST MISTAKE OF THIS GROW SESSION 😢
----------------------------------------------------
I haven't travel since a long time. But I had to leave house for 4 days.
Unfortunately, I badly managed the watering before leaving house, and plants got thirsty for probably 24-48h.
Soil dried way faster than usually. There is multiple reasons for this. The most obvious is that plants are growing, and needing more and more water days after days.
BUT, the biggest $variable was myslelf, not being home. My only presence at home prevent the soil from drying to fast.
That sound weird, right :) ? Well. It's simple ^^ I'm opening windows all day long, I'm opening growing tent to check plants multiple time a day.... I'm letting fresh air coming in the house!!!
When I came back from my little trip, was something like 28°C in the grow tent. Too hot, and way higher than my usual values. So water vanished faster.
I never realized how much I was regulating temp without being aware of.
Impact on the plant: I believe it slowed them for 3 days. Lowest leaves yellowed. But they are useless now anyway, they'll get defoliated next week.
But they fully recovered and looking great again, after beeing droppy for some days ;)
🌳 TRANSPLANT FROM 2.3L TO 16L POT 🌳
-------------------------------------------------
Once my plants fully recovered from thoses dry days, I managed to perform transplant to bigger pots.
In my last grow sessions, I was using 25L pots. But this time, I decided to have a shorter veg period, and needed more room, so I could grow more plants at the same time.
Because the main goal of that grow session is to end my PURPLE QUEST! So, I need to test as much pheno I can. Productivity isn't the goal here.
Allright. So smaller pots, but still decents for an indoor grow, especially since I'll start flowering arround week 7 or 8!
The shoes should fit perfectly until the end of the grow :)
I waited that soil got partially dried, so it stay as one block when you remove the plant from the old pot.
That is the theory, because It wasn't that easy that time. As expectable with thoses damn 2.3L pots.
As mentionned last week, they are verry deep, their shape is a weird design choice in my opinion, because it will make watering way harder.
And transplant too ! Deeper, mean more roots contact with the fabric of the pots... Plants were verry well attached to the fabric, and removing them was really not easy.
So i tried to be as smooth as possible... Probably took me 1H to transplant thoses 4 pots 🤣
My method is simple. You fill your new pot with soil, but with previous pot placed in it, so you create the "hole" for the plant and it's root&dirt block.
Then, I "water spray my hole", I do the same to the plant and it's roots, and I place it in the new pot! Some work with the soil to place the plant correctly, and you are done.
Water spraying top of the soil, and true watering 30 minutes later. Just ph balanced water without nutrients. It will come next week.
🤓 SOIL: CHANGED MY PLANS ON THE LAST MINUTE 🤓
---------------------------------------------------------------
I had brand new and fresh Biobizz - Allmix.
A nice 50L bag, ready to be used.
But once again, I been trapped by my feelings, and felt bad using new soil, when I have used soil, waiting there...
It's just.... Using new soil again and again... Feels like a consumer society behavior....
I already talked about that. Not gonna go further.
So used soil (biobizz - allmix), from my previous grow session (Legendary OG Punch from RQS).
The soil been flushed with arround 50L of tape water (for 25L of soil), and let outdoor, in pot, for... 4 months I believe.
So it also been flushed by rain, and dried, and got wet again.
I could have added some compost to it. But It was not ready when I needed it.
But I'm confident... My current grow is a shorter one. And first goal is to find a pheno, not to make the biggest nugs ^^
🎃 SHORT UPDATE ABOUT THE UGLY 🎃
---------------------------------------------
She is growing verry wildly. And I think I can describe her problem like a "left-handed-only" situation.
It's like she absolutely want to turn LEFT :D so left leave/node will grow and turn left, when right leave/node will grow verry verry verry verry slowly.
Let's call this the "Nemo disease" 😃

Wow! I really enjoyed visiting ur journals! Great work, I hope you’ll get a healthy grow with the best results and some delicious buds at the end. Keep on doing ur thing.
I will drop by some times to see your progress on ur grows! Happy growing and feel free to drop by anytime to say hello! Have a good day 😁🥦
Sounds like you're trying to catch some previous lightning in a bottle...but sure it's a worthwhile quest to be on!!! Good luck and hope you find the flavour you're looking for in here!
@PurpleWorship, nah, they are good, i don't care so much about couple spots on first leaves ;) you have to try products, to understand what and when, failure is success sometimes too !!!
@AsNoriu, It was important to me you like it, because you made me realise previous ones were not that great. I really appreciated this feedback,
because i didn't noticed the problem, and I been abble to improve my pictures after that.
I'm verry verry sorry about your bad experience with leafcoat :S
Why did you applied it that early? An emergency I guess.. :S ?
I only used it way later, when plant well grown.
Each time I'm applying a product (like black soap), I'm pre-spraying my plants, so leaves drink as much as they can,
and then when it's dry, I apply the product.
Anyway dude... I hope they'll recover :/
@PurpleWorship, ;)))) i am not your nasty Spanish teacher ;))))
All the best in your adventure, hope you'll find that taste in those girls !
I have tried to use LeafCoat on youngsters, 8th day, got burn, even after first application during first night. Be cautious with it, i know you like the stuff ;))
@Mr_Cannuccia19, Thank you.. I dont know what to say. I have a looooooooot to learn and understand. And I like to take my time. I'm also thinking the same with so much other growers on @growdiaries. This place offer us an unique chance to share and learn from each others... Thanks for this kind comment :)
That purple taste you are referring to I found the perfect cannabis from stones coffee shop in Amsterdam around 2009.
It was a blueberry x a reversed purple kush. In my top 3 ever smokes for sure if not too 1.
I think a purple kush x blueberry strain is what I would be hunting if trying to replicate that quite rare mix of terpenes.
@PurpleWorship, grand daddy purple is on my list to grow funny enough, I was looking at the version from the originators grand daddy purple seeds which had a similar description to what I remember from 2009.
They also had them in regular which is another plus point in my opinion being more stable than a feminised strain. I think that would be a very good chance to finding that terp we crave, also sell them in fem too.
I think medical seeds also do a Mendocino purple kush in fem which I have pondered buying a few times over the years but I got caught up in the hype of these new over hyped low yielding hemi prone strains😂 in fact the only hype strain that I found stood out was barneys runtz muffin which with the right pheno looks crazy (several examples in my diaries) and hits like a truck but again low yielding and hemi prone if you even look at it funny while in the grow room😂
In the UK we had purple haze around 1996-1997 which had the first type of purple taste arrive which I wish I had some seeds of but like many other fantastic strains from years ago that genetic pool seems missing from today’s market.
The cookie crosses have done as much bad as good for the cannabis connoisseurs in my humble opinion.
I will be sure to follow your diaries and hope you find what you are looking for my purple hunting brother👊
Good luck finding your purple bro!
I agree on the pots, I've got some lavender I started in them and they fall over or are just super awkward to water!
Wider is better! I use 3 gal pots but thought I'd buy 5 gal measure 3 gal and cut the excess pot away (fabric obviously), giving me the extra vertical space and making watering a little easier 😝
@InspireMe, I tried corriander in it too, and miserably failed :D
It need way more attention than with other pots, because it just accelerate water dissipation.
And also, there is not that much plants that would benefit from a so deep pot that tight. Carrots maybe XD? Weirdly designed to be honnest.
Following your Quest for the " Purple Grale"
but how can you call those little ones ugly tststs..... if they hear it😱
I really like your grow-description and your thoughts.Pictures are sharp and good aswell, keep that track!😍
I agree to the XS-2000, tent stays quite cool, no overheating
@Mrs_Larimar, Damn I were is my first answer!?
I was saying that I was calling her "my pretty Ugly" so I think it's totally fine :)
My pictures are good when I get plant outside, under sun light. But I can't make decent photos in the grow tent...
The light spectrum is messing with my camera so much lol.
"I really like your grow-description and your thoughts."
Thanks :) I'm trying to share interesting thoughts without going crazy with data / techy details.
I'm glad you find it appreciable :)
