Week 5: 7 days after transplanting plants to 16L pots and the second topping,
everything seems to be fine. A potential PH issue, but I believe it's underwatering!
✂️ TIME FOR SECOND TOPPING ✂️
----------------------------------------
First topping (above node 3) been performed during week 3.
I'm trying to start flowering earlier than with my previous grow: hopefully at week 8 instead of week 10.
So I'm happy because I been abble to perform the second topping this week, one week of advance compared to my previous grow.
Each plants grow 2 branches at node 3, after the first topping. Those new branches been topped again above node 3.
Node 2 of thoses branches been defoliated, and I removed oldest and useless leaves. I could have topped them way earlier in my opinion, since they had grow 6 nodes!
🔧 FINALLY PERFORMED LST 🔧
------------------------------------
I wanted to start LST after plants transplants to the 16L pot. Because I'm using sting to attach every branchs,
Performing it on 4 plants take some time, and doing it once to redo It completly 1/2 weeks later was... NO 😆
But the plants got strong colas quickly, I had to be verry careful. I broke branches in the past, I know how stressfull It can be,
and it would totally break my "quick" grow expectations, forcing me to delay flowering begining.
So first thing: Get the plant thirsty. They are way easier to bend when plant's tissues aren't saturated with water.
Then, I bend the branches at multiple spots, but always keeping the base of the branch in position.
The bending pressure shouldn't applied to the base of your branch, never! Work your branch before applying the tension.
Everything went well. No damage, no stress, just happy plants :) Some hours later every leaves were facing the light again 😊
⚠️ POTENTIAL ISSUE: PH/UNDERWATERING ⚠️
-----------------------------------------------------
Oldest leaves started to yellow from the side, and new leaves were way lighter.
This really look like a deficiency, but there is no way the soil can't provide enough nutrients.
It's reused soil, but it spent months outdoor. And it's first reuse!
I haven't watered the plant during ALL the week. Wanted to make sure the soil was clean of any pest, and I needed the plants to get thirsty to perform LST!
I think I waited too long before watering again after transplant. I think it's not a PH issue, but a watering issue.
The plants still look healthy, no worries. But I must make sure to fix this as soon as possible.
(at the moment I'm writing this, week 6, I have the feeling the yellowing process stopped after watering the plants again).
I will check PH of the water drained from the pots at next watering to make sure it's not a PH issue.
💜 WAY TOO SOON, BUT CAN I RECOGNIZE HER? 💜
-----------------------------------------------------------
The plants are already smelling. But... it's smell just cannabis, it's just cannabis sweat juice in the air 😊
So for now, I don't smell anything close to what I'm expecting from them. Flowering will start in 3 weeks or so...
I can't wait to smell my "purple" again. The moment my noze will identify the first molecule of her delicious perfum will make my day. Maybe my year. 😍

Wow! I really enjoyed visiting ur journals! Great work, I hope you’ll get a healthy grow with the best results and some delicious buds at the end. Keep on doing ur thing.
I will drop by some times to see your progress on ur grows! Happy growing and feel free to drop by anytime to say hello! Have a good day 😁🥦
Sounds like you're trying to catch some previous lightning in a bottle...but sure it's a worthwhile quest to be on!!! Good luck and hope you find the flavour you're looking for in here!
@PurpleWorship, nah, they are good, i don't care so much about couple spots on first leaves ;) you have to try products, to understand what and when, failure is success sometimes too !!!
@AsNoriu, It was important to me you like it, because you made me realise previous ones were not that great. I really appreciated this feedback,
because i didn't noticed the problem, and I been abble to improve my pictures after that.
I'm verry verry sorry about your bad experience with leafcoat :S
Why did you applied it that early? An emergency I guess.. :S ?
I only used it way later, when plant well grown.
Each time I'm applying a product (like black soap), I'm pre-spraying my plants, so leaves drink as much as they can,
and then when it's dry, I apply the product.
Anyway dude... I hope they'll recover :/
@PurpleWorship, ;)))) i am not your nasty Spanish teacher ;))))
All the best in your adventure, hope you'll find that taste in those girls !
I have tried to use LeafCoat on youngsters, 8th day, got burn, even after first application during first night. Be cautious with it, i know you like the stuff ;))
@Mr_Cannuccia19, Thank you.. I dont know what to say. I have a looooooooot to learn and understand. And I like to take my time. I'm also thinking the same with so much other growers on @growdiaries. This place offer us an unique chance to share and learn from each others... Thanks for this kind comment :)
That purple taste you are referring to I found the perfect cannabis from stones coffee shop in Amsterdam around 2009.
It was a blueberry x a reversed purple kush. In my top 3 ever smokes for sure if not too 1.
I think a purple kush x blueberry strain is what I would be hunting if trying to replicate that quite rare mix of terpenes.
@PurpleWorship, grand daddy purple is on my list to grow funny enough, I was looking at the version from the originators grand daddy purple seeds which had a similar description to what I remember from 2009.
They also had them in regular which is another plus point in my opinion being more stable than a feminised strain. I think that would be a very good chance to finding that terp we crave, also sell them in fem too.
I think medical seeds also do a Mendocino purple kush in fem which I have pondered buying a few times over the years but I got caught up in the hype of these new over hyped low yielding hemi prone strains😂 in fact the only hype strain that I found stood out was barneys runtz muffin which with the right pheno looks crazy (several examples in my diaries) and hits like a truck but again low yielding and hemi prone if you even look at it funny while in the grow room😂
In the UK we had purple haze around 1996-1997 which had the first type of purple taste arrive which I wish I had some seeds of but like many other fantastic strains from years ago that genetic pool seems missing from today’s market.
The cookie crosses have done as much bad as good for the cannabis connoisseurs in my humble opinion.
I will be sure to follow your diaries and hope you find what you are looking for my purple hunting brother👊
Good luck finding your purple bro!
I agree on the pots, I've got some lavender I started in them and they fall over or are just super awkward to water!
Wider is better! I use 3 gal pots but thought I'd buy 5 gal measure 3 gal and cut the excess pot away (fabric obviously), giving me the extra vertical space and making watering a little easier 😝
@InspireMe, I tried corriander in it too, and miserably failed :D
It need way more attention than with other pots, because it just accelerate water dissipation.
And also, there is not that much plants that would benefit from a so deep pot that tight. Carrots maybe XD? Weirdly designed to be honnest.
Following your Quest for the " Purple Grale"
but how can you call those little ones ugly tststs..... if they hear it😱
I really like your grow-description and your thoughts.Pictures are sharp and good aswell, keep that track!😍
I agree to the XS-2000, tent stays quite cool, no overheating
@Mrs_Larimar, Damn I were is my first answer!?
I was saying that I was calling her "my pretty Ugly" so I think it's totally fine :)
My pictures are good when I get plant outside, under sun light. But I can't make decent photos in the grow tent...
The light spectrum is messing with my camera so much lol.
"I really like your grow-description and your thoughts."
Thanks :) I'm trying to share interesting thoughts without going crazy with data / techy details.
I'm glad you find it appreciable :)
