Hey everyone, so possibly making clones doesn't technically fit in to the "germination" phase....however, I'm not starting with pre-made clones or established clones given to me. They're cut, dipped, and given the chance to root....many die along the way like seeds, so I figured I could start their life here, at the beginning with no roots....just like a seed.
This clone was made in just a glass of water on the window sill. Thats what was working best for me this summer.
Being the first week of the vegetative stage I'd say this plants off to a good start. It didn't die when I transplanted the cut into a cup of soil. I always feel like those first two weeks from germination or cloning are some of the most important, because either the plant is going to survive... or it will die. If you make it this far, things are already looking good.
Currently the young plant is just enjoying window sun and that seems to be both bright and warm enough to grow without risk of burning the leaves or getting too hot. Occasionally it has a home made humidity dome on top of it (another cup), and that gets misted and let's it get some higher moisture content. That's one struggle I always have is raising the RH.
Once it gets transplanted into its bigger pot then ill move it into the Mars Hydro setup, with the Sp6500 Led and the 4x2x6 growtent. I'm liking this new setup because even though its most the same space I was using before, I have gotten an extra foot of space in height, which can be extremely helpful when growing photoperiod strains. As for the new light....oh wow is it a great feeling not having to look at that awful blue/purple lighting from my older led models. To be able to take pictures freely and have them be tolerable to look at without having to change the lighting or take them out of the tent is a huge relief.
I did a poor job at taking photos this week. Unfortunately while I love letting my plants get some natural sunlight, I sometimes forget about them since they're not in my immediate sight.
However, this lovely lemon is growing beautifully and building a nice root system and has put out several new sets of leaves. I'll transplant her into a bigger pot and move her full time into the tent with consistent led lighting.
My new Mars Hydro setup has been great. The zippers are so smooth, no light holes, and the LED is beautiful. I didn't expect how big the light and equipment would be though so I'll have to adjust to that.
A great week for this plant. Her transplant went perfectly. No clear stresses that I could see happened. I had some difficulty deciding whether or not I wanted to do any LST on her, so I tied and untied her a couple times before making the final choice for her to get to grow natural and straight.
I used some of the Plant Success Mycorrhizae when she was transplanted(they're basically a sister company to the Great White Myco) and she's happy with that. Seems to be doing a fair boost of growing now that she has room to spread out and has the consistent strong LED light and regulated environment of the grow tent.
She's currently in with a Mars Hydro SP6500 full spectrum led and a 4x2x6 growtent.
The only negative thing I can think of for this girl is she's the smallest in the tent so I have to keep her up on top of something to raise her height closer to the others.
Happy growing everyone. ✌️
A great week for growth. However I'm seeing a few leaf problems beginning.
Early in the week I started to see some leaf discoloration, which could have been some light burn but more likely some ph fluctuations.
Towards the end of the week I'm seeing leaves with raised edges which I think must be due to the low humidity and the temps being a bit higher than ideal. Unfortunately the higher I kick up the power on my light, the higher the temperature gets.
I currently have one small 4 inch intake fan and an oscillating fan but I think its time to bring in the big guns and add in a 6 inch fan and turn the 4 inch into an exhaust rather than intake. Anything to keep the air exchange continuously flowing.
Besides the heat I'm loving the new Mars Hydro SP6500 LED, its powerful, beautiful and dims. It does take up a large amount of space though so I'll plan for that better in the next grow.
I decided to leave this plant fairly natural in its growth pattern, no High Stress Training, only the small LST that I eventually decided against. For the most part it straightened out nicely after having the ties removed. Being the youngest and smallest plant in the tent I figured leaving it alone was the best way for it to get the most light, by taking up less room horizontally.
So far she's stayed green and healthy even with my spotty Ph'ing methods. That's never been one of my strong suits anyway and too often my ph pens go off in accuracy that I despise them all the more.
I'm going to let her finish in this somewhat small pot because I don't expect her to get too big before I flip to flowering.
She's loved being in the tent with a more controlled environment and the higher power lighting from the Mars Hydro SP6500. I've still kept the lighting no higher than 50% and that seems to have kept everything cool enough and happy.
Happy growing and harvesting to everyone. ✌️
It's been a great week. She's gaining in height quickly with the stronger led light. Her leaves have a nice healthy deep green color. As soon as an auto finishes she'll have more room and more direct light.
I'm still using the Mars Hydro SP6500 at about 35-50% because it seems to be strong enough and also it helps to keep the heat down.
Her feeding regimen has still been low, and until she starts showing signs of needing more ill keep things moderate. Just the micronutrients seem to be enough to keep her healthy and happy right now.
I figure we'll go another couple weeks in veg to let her gain a bit more height then flip to flower.
Happy growing everyone. ✌️
So happy, what a great week. Some nice defoliation to open things up. Still a stunning color. Very healthy looking.
Its amazing what a good session of defoliation can do for your plants. I know some people are against it, but now that I've gotten more comfortable with the process, I can't Not do it. I haven't decided on how many lower branches to remove since she's so much smaller than other plants in the tent, but if they seem like a drain of energy then I'll remove more later.
Happy growing everyone. ✌️
It was a good week for this girl. She's looking strong and healthy. Maintaining her beautiful green color....which is great since I seem to often struggle with ph imbalances.
I still have the Mars Hydro SP6500 light only running at around 50% and that seems to be strong enough to keep the plants happy and growing, but also keep the heat in a manageable range.
I think we'll be ready to flip into flowering here soon and then we'll get to see how beautiful she really is. She will still be a fairly small plant when she goes into the 12/12 but I'm starting to want to lean more on the smaller side with my plants... They're so much easier to maneuver around and most of them still yield great results with a smaller veg time.
Happy Growing all.✌️
Well....a 9 week veg is a little longer than I'd like. But I guess when you stretch out all the time from seed to clone to veg its really not too bad.
Unfortunately its a hard thing when you only run one tent at a time and you have to wait for some things to finish before starting a new flowering cycle. I really need to have a veg tent and a flower tent, it would make life so much easier.
I went ahead and cleaned up the bottoms on this one and now she's basically ready for the flip. I'm excited to see the size and yield on this plant as its the smallest photoperiod plant I've grown.
Happy holidays to everyone. ✌️
The first week of flowering:
What an exciting time. Fortunately I kept this plant fairly small, but it will still be interesting to see how much it stretches. If she gets too tall her pot will be even more top heavy and want to fall over.
After seeing how much lower from the top of the canopy she is compared with the other plants, I decided she'd benefit best from a plant stand. At least it's risen her up to their level for more light.
Happy growing everyone.

What a fascinating flower period this plant has had so far. Very minimal stretching, but good fast bud site development.
I continually notice my struggle with Ph'ing, I expect thats what dominantly causes my leaf discolorations. However I need to invest in a good pen, bluelab or something because I get so tired of having my calibration go off so quickly. Ideally once a month recalibrate would be ok...but every week or two come on!

Whoo its incredible how quickly the buds get going before you know it. I'm sure my @greenbuzzliquids fast buds is hard at work but I never tire of seeing them get developed.
I'm realizing some small things to adjust with the new lights...like with their gorgeous full spectrum color, I need to back off using my flash with photos. Or dime my light prior to pictures.
I love having a light that dims. That baby has saved my butt so much already. If you ever find your plants under stress, underwater for example and droopy. Water those babies and kick your lights down to 10-20% and they will overcome even the worst situation.

Alright time for some small clean-up. Usually a day 21 defoliation is a good place to be. Get rid of some of these low useless branches. However, I did keep this plant relatively small so I have to remind myself not to remove too much and that I can always get rid of more as we go along.
The top of this lemon is making me laugh as it has a much larger amount of leaves at the top branch... I'm afraid to pull many of them and am reserving that for a little further in the future.

This has been a good week of flowering,
the buds are getting nicely developed and covered with trichomes.
This plant is probably the smallest plant I've ever grown. timing is rarely my strong suit so I often end up letting things get overgrown before flipping to flower. So this plant has been a joy to care for, easy to move, water and defoliate. While big plants can be nice for big yields, they're also much more work, they're heavy and need more support; and if they don't get quality light, air and treatment they're yields may not be so much better than having a few smaller plants.
This has been my first round of photoperiod plants with the new full spectrum led and tent from Mars Hydro. The tent is pretty close to my previous size but its maintaining its strength and durability nicely, I haven't found any light leaks or holes. I wish it had a few more large vent holes versus the smaller ones that only fit the 4 inch exhaust fans, but that's jx3ust personal preference.
With the new SP6500 LED I'm very happy. It fits the tent just perfectly with enough room to fit my exhaust fans at each end, any smaller of a tent and it wouldn't fit the width and leave room to work with. I love that it is a dimming light and that has saved my butt so much! I've had my fair share of underwatering situations with drastically wilted plants and I've noticed my plants can recover from stress so much faster and healthier when I can dim the lights for a few hours after being watered. If you're someone considering changing your light setup id definitely recommend one of these SP series or another dimmable light. The full spectrum coloring makes for decent pictures and especially so when I lower the brightness.
Happy growing.
This week I pulled the @greenbuzzliquids Fast Buds and started up the Big Fruits and increased the Bloom and Humidity acids doses. Being several weeks into flowering its not really valuable to continue to use the Fast Buds, but it makes a great difference in those early weeks of flower in how quickly the buds sites begin to appear. I've been extremely satisfied with the Green Buzz Liquids fertilizer line since I got introduced to them here on Grow Diaries, if I hadn't have been building diaries on here I don't know if I would've ever branched out from just using Fox Farm products. Unfortunately you get tied up in whats readily available in your area and maybe never get the opportunity to try anything new.
The biggest difference i noticed this week in the grow was with the main cola. From day 1 to day 7 it definitely got more pointy and fatter. So I think we've gotten to that later flowering stage where we're not growing vertically or even horizontal, just bulking and gaining more sparkle.
Best of luck with everyone's current grows.✌️
It's been a pretty good week for this plant. She's definitely in the bulking and maturing stage now. I was pretty surprised at how much purple coloring she started to put on throughout the week. I think she's going to be a fairly pretty plant by the end of the grow. She's building trichomes nicely and seems to be handling her environment and feeding schedule happily. I'm sure next week she'll have changed even more and keep surprising me.

Happy growing everyone. ✌️
Wow! What a magnificent color change this week! I really didn't expect this many purple tints to show up, but its gorgeous. It does make me curious why the top half of plants tend to have the color change while the bottom buds, and lower branches will usually stay more green? Maybe light intensity? I don't know. But it seems like it's a bit more rare when the color reaches the whole length of a plant.
I've still been currently running my @MarsHydroLED at about 50% power, which seems to be more than adequate for the plants in my tent. The higher I turn the power up on this light the more heat it wants to generate, and because everything is fairly tall I don't want to over cook them and burn any plants. Even with the larger exhaust fan running it still gets between 78-85 F. Possibly on a future run when all the plants are shorter I'll see if I can get the power closer to 100%.
Happy growing everyone. ✌️
Week 5.
The buds are looking beautiful and strong. The pistils are changing colors quickly and the trichomes are getting more and more dense. Its time for the plants to be maturing and bulking.

Hi all,
Well...the end of the grow is getting nearer and nearer. There color change on most leaves, good trichome development, and beautiful citrus smell and we're on 9 weeks of flowering.... so maybe another week or two at most.

Well....here we are. The end of the grow, the last week of flowering. You realize how fast it actually kgoes once you get to the end of a flowering cycle... 8-10 weeks really isn't that long once you start breaking it down. The days go slow, but the weeks go fast.
This Lemon G was an absolute joy to grow and she impressed the heck out of me. There's always set backs and problems...but that's to be expected and totally ok. However overall I was blown away by her color, her incredible weighty buds towards the end, and her beautiful trichomes and smell(which ended up permeating the whole place). She's the smallest plant I've put through flower so far and wow is it so much easier dealing with smaller shorter plants!
I gave her only plain water this week to hopefully flush out any possible build up and naturally many leaves started to wither or discolor(further than the purplish/red quality they've had). Throughout the grow I had given this plant a low/medium feed schedule, so I don't expect an excess of nutrients, or needing a lengthy flush..
I'm excited to give her the chop...and even trim her because I know it won't be anything as difficult as other grows.
Big love to @marshydroled for the SP6500 LED and making taller growtents, the plants loved the full spectrum.
Also @greenbuzzliquids who make great fertilizer lines for people aiming in a more natural, organic grow style. I always notice a significant difference if I use their "More Roots" nutrient on my younger plants and clones.
Happy Growing and Harvesting to everyone.✌️
Alright this is it. The very final day of life and time to cut and dry.
I can't seem to say it enough but this grow has really made me rethink how I want my future grows to be or look like. All grows have little problems, indoors or outdoors, when you're using so much equipment or nutrients, ph-ing, even just watering practices....there's room for things to go off a little bit, but as long as they get corrected and the plants live then you're doing alright and you'll learn from any mistakes or issues.
The most valuable thing I took from this grow was to keep my plants manageable. If you're limited by space or a small person like me, its not so practical having big, heavy, cumbersome plants. Especially if you can get good yields off several smaller plants.
I also used a plastic pot on this grow and that was a huge help in maintaining a good moisture level. I've gotten so used to fabric pots and like them...but with my low humidity range and how quickly they can dry with fans and everything, it's been much better using a plastic pot.
This is also my first grow with a full spectrum LED. I cannot say enough how much my plants and self loved it. Great color and being able to dim the light has been a life saver.
The Mars Hydro SP6500 did a great job and I didn't have to take it much above 50% the entire grow and still get better results than my previous lights at full power! Love it!
I hope everyone has had some excellent grows lately and beautiful harvests.✌️
So this plant is actually Lemon Granita from Compound Genetics, which is a Lemon Jack cross. It grew amazing, I had no idea what to expect and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The plant was beautiful, it was strong at resisting fungus gnats(which i struggle with), it handled my high heat & low humidity perfectly, and wow talk about dense buds from top to bottom. Being able to have a medium sized plant that had solid buds all the way was so nice, I could handle the plant easily and every bud was worth trimming..no larf with this gal.
I love doing the grows on GD because I can actually look back and see where things may have gone right or wrong, I just struggle with my timeliness.
All together though this was an excellent grow and taught me a lot about how I want my garden and grows to actually be and how I can get them to fit me as person more comfortably .
If you have a chance to find these beans at auction or get a clone somewhere, grow it, its a good one.
Again, big love to Mars Hydro for making good gear, my grow was all the better for getting different equipment.
Happy harvesting everyone. ✌️
