I'm very curious and hyped, about these new strains from Royal Queen Seeds.
For a change I'm growing a true full CBD strain, the brand new Royal CBDV which just released.
* Royal CBDV: https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/medical-cannabis-seeds/532-royal-cbdv-automatic.html
Beware, she is a true medical plant (for a THC richer alternative with CBD, consider looking at Royal Highness) for medical benefits and clear focussing (see below).

[ Royal CBDV Automatic ]
- The ratio of THC/CBD is 0.3%/5%, 5% CBDV
- Seed to harvest is 8-9 weeks (3-4 weeks in growth, 5-6 weeks bloom)
- Type: 75% Sativa, 20% Indica, 5% Ruderalis
- Genetics: Solomatic x Durban Poison
- Height (inside): 60-80cm / 23.62-31.5inch
- Height (outside): 80-100cm / 31.5-39.37inch
The genetics are great and promising. My plan is to aim for a harvest around 80-100gr / 2.82-3.53oz ( INDOORS ), as it will have to share some space.
A dedicated medical grower will be able to knock out an additional 30-50gr / 1-1.76 oz with ease.
Timing wise, although it is an auto I'm confident she'll be able to handle some heavy stress training, that's why I go for a growth of 3+1 weeks (1w to recover). Regarding blooming most likely 5-6 weeks.
I'm hoping to keep her small by Topping.
Next week I will talk about this weeks germination, the tent preparation and the soil composition and preparation.
Soil setup (same for both plants):
- 10 % pebbles at the top (for top soil protection against water evaporation)
- 50gr / 1.75oz of RQS Easy Boost
- 70 % Plagron Grow Mix
- 20 % pebbles at the bottom (for draining and preventing the roots from digging into the fabric pot + prevents root bind)
- 7L / 1.85gal water (initial watering, should last some weeks till they grow bigger)
On temperature: there have been a couple of "hot and humid" days. All in all no biggy. Pretty good conditions overall for a growing phase.
Regarding the germination process:
The Runtz hatched quicker, hence the longer stem compared to the CBDV.
I did had to help out the CBDV strain with hatching (nothing out of the ordinary), hindsight I should have kept her 1-2 days longer inside of the incubator in order to let her develop longer roots.
The rolls will be removed once the stems are stronger. They mainly function for a bufferzone in order to let the plants grow without pressure or heat from the pebbles.
I will keep the topic on tent preparation in next weeks journal. See you guys soon!
No watering needed this week. With the start of the new week I will provide some with some good new nutrients.
The CBDV is one week behind, but will catch up anyway.
The rolls will be removed once the stems are stronger. They mainly function for a bufferzone in order to let the plants grow without pressure or heat from the pebbles.
Regarding the indoor tent preparation (some basic 101's):
* take a room with stable heat - moisture conditions
* no pets in the same room as they can take bugs from the garden to inside
* make sure your tent is light blocking from out to in, and light reflective on the inside
* vacuum and clean the tent after every usage, give malovelent pests and fungi no change
* if you want to use a screen of green, prepare and deploy it in advance
* place a fan for a soft breeze, this will strengthen the roots and stem
* place fitting trays to catch any overflow of water
The results for this week:
CBDV = 07cm / 02.76inch
I've started to use the RQS Easy Grow Booster tablets (https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/growing/355-easy-grow-booster-tablets.html)
Where 1 tablet goes with 3l / 0.79gal of water. So for this week and the upcoming week I'm using half of a tablet each time.
For CBDV:
Hoping to see some growth progress there in the upcoming week. Or I'll be forced to put her on a pedestal to keep her out of the shade of the Runtz.
CBDV height: 18cm / 7.09inch
The CBDV made some good catching up progress. Hope to see similar big leaps in the upcoming week.
Somewhere this week I will remove her protective barrier for the stem from the pebbles.
CBDV height: 21cm / 11.42inch
For CBDV:
She has grown significantly, still need it to kick some extra 10cm / 3.94inch for my liking + I haven't removed her protective barrier, the stem should really grow thicker first.
On the positive flip side, the CBDV is a real true autoflower and isn't affected at all by the light schedule. She is starting to bloom already, so I might have to adjust my estimation to 57gr / 2ounces.
I think that I might go lollypopping her, will see how quick her sidebranches develop in the upcoming weeks.
Once she becomes more demanding on her feeding schedule (not really thirsty atm) then I'll feed her separately with the easy bloom tablets.
For CBDV:
She is on par with Runtz now, in height. She keeps on blooming nicely, must warn though that she can be smelly when disturbed.
It looks more and more that she is great for small tent growers, which like to have one main firm branch.
Will treat her accordingly in the upcoming weeks, by pruning away any side branches (as she only has a few weeks left).
CBDV height 38cm / 14.96inch
For CBDV:
Definitely a great plant for small time/secret growers. The buds are starting to fill up.
It seems she has hit her height. Maybe with a new seed in another growth, I'll be able to unlock her true potential.
For now I'm more and more convinced that in her current state, she will yield around 1ounce / 28gr once finished.
I've actually started (week 8) giving both (=Runtz on another diary) a solution of Easy Bloom
CBDV height 40cm / 15.75inch
For CBDV:
Just look at that top bud view. Beautiful!!! She'll be ready any day now.
This means that next week I'll add some harvest and microscope pictures.
Regarding the nutrients, I made a small mistake. Where the Easy Grow table is ment to be for 3-5L / 0.79-1.32 Gal. The Easy bloom tablets are actually ment to be for 5-8L / 1.32-2.11 Gal (which makes sense as we need more water during blooming).
So I accidently double dosed them this week. To be honest, all went ok and with this soil they do need a bit more oomph.
CBDV height 40cm / 15.75inch
For CBDV:
Just a little bit longer ... to let some of the sweet juice settle on the sugar leaves.
As you can see I lollypopped her in preparation for the harvest, SoonTM.
As you can see all went OK nutrientwise.
