First time germinating with this clone done. Normally used Saran Wrap but I was able to get some more supplies during the lockdown.
This soil mix is roughly based on the legendary Clackamas Coots mix.
The soil is mostly sphagnum peat moss with rice hulls for aeration. The rice hulls contain silica which contribute to a stronger stalk which makes them naturally tougher and more resistant to pests.
Added to the mix is worm castings to add microbial life.
The final ingredient is malted barley the barley is a seed and this contains enzymes. These enzymes break down offering nutrients to the microbes which in turn become plant available nutrients.
First time using barley. Excited to see what they do!
P.s. amended 4-4-4 organic dry amendments and alfalfa meal for the added triacontanol a natural hormone which will aide in growth.
The amendments won’t be available until the microbes break them down. By the time the plant is hungry they will have plenty of food without fear of being burned. The joy of organics is the plant only eats what it needs as it needs it.
Thanks for reading my novel haha hope you enjoy the journal!
