What can I say—I have a million of these seeds thanks to Sweet Seeds. I’m a big fan too; easy to grow, fun to watch, and tasty. I smoke CBD most days and often cut more strong THC strains too (I now have a baby daughter so have to be a little restrained!). However you use it, it’s a really good CBD strain. This will be my fourth plant/third grow, and am hoping to get that lovely pink/red: so far all of mine have been a rich purple.
I started germination on 29/8/21 using wet paper towels. Once it pops I’ll plant directly in soil (Bio-terra) in a 5L plastic pot. I use Biobizz nutrients and will start just with a little root juice. Thanks for reading!
1/9/21 update: after 60 hours there was a nice big root so in it goes! The pot is as described above with about 100mL of water with Root Juice at 1mL/L. I also used about 15g of Dynomyco.
Up she goes! After a slightly slower start than the White Widow in my other current diary, this one has now picked up over the past night and they’re about the same size. All good!
Heat wave this week has meant it’s been tough to keep the tent cool. This one struggled a little with some yellowing on the early leaves but seems to have recovered fine. Otherwise not much to report: pleased with the progress!
Not the most vigorous growth, but steady. It got a bit too heavy and laid down but seems to be picking back up this week. Chugging along! Introduced bio grow and ecothrive biosys this week, so we’ll see how that goes.
Pretty decent growth this week! Bet she’ll flower next week. Not a massive plant but she seems happy. I trimmed out a bunch of leaves to get a bit more light and air to bud sites. Still going with biogrow and biosys, but will swap to flowering nutes next week.
Lovely growth this week, about 10cm! And while she was getting ready to flower, flipping the tent to 12/12 brought the bloom out quick. As in my previous diaries it’s worth noting that I don’t worry too much about wringing every last gram out of my CBD plants, but I’m super happy with how this one is going so far especially in the 5L pot.
A nice week; really glad to see the purple coming out. It’s definitely a bit cramped in the tent thanks to the White Widow, but it’s all good—am not desperate for a perfect yield. No problems at all so far.
Wow, so tons of vertical growth this week on my White Widow. So much so that I ran out and bought a new tent! The old one was 60x60x140 and was a generic non name thing, but the new one is a Budbox Pro medium shorty (75x75x160), about the biggest tent I can manage at the minute. But super pleased with it—seems like very high quality and I got it for 40GBP cheaper than Amazon from my local hydro hobby store. Thanks guys!
As for this plant: no fuss at all! She’s plumping up and vertical growth has slowed a lot. Plenty of lovely rich purple coming too. No problems at all; I love growing this strain!
Stretch has completed; no more vertical growth this week. But the buds are definitely moving well, it’s lovely to see all the purple coming out. I’m sticking with a limited nute schedule and so far it’s working out well. I’ve alternated calmag and Algamic in small amounts, and am watering/feeding more or less every four days. No Biosys this week, but I’m convinced that it’s helped with nutrient uptake.
Making slower progress now—does anyone else find flowering to be a bit frustrating? Not too much happening but no real problems. Maybe a tiny bit of a N surplus so taking it easy with feeding (and if using Biosys cut nutes in half). A bit smellier this week too.
I’m concerned that no new pistils are coming out, so the buds are really, really tiny. I can’t work out why. No obvious nute issues or anything and normally I get huge fat buds with this strain. At this rate it won’t be much of a harvest at all…
Bud growth has basically stopped and most trichromes are milky, a few amber. I was really hoping to get a bit more growth—the buds are tiny tiny tiny. Maybe just a dud plant; my other grows of this strain have been much fatter. Oh well. Not sure when I’ll harvest, since I would like to deal with all my current plants at once and the others have at least another week or two to go.
No real changes this week, just waiting to harvest this one with the others. It’s as ready as it’ll get, but I’m not expecting much. Oh well!
Join a union!
Normally this one is super easy to grow big fat nugs. However this time I got a tiny amount of very airy buds. I harvested when all the trichromes were cloudy with maybe 10% amber. But no nute problems while growing and no pests at all. So, I’ll definitely keep growing this strain even if this one was a bit of a dud! Check out my other RPA diaries to see some better examples.
