I have germinated the plants directly in the soil. I am doing this most of the time because of two reasons:
1. There is less stress for the plants during the process, because they are sprouting the same way as they would do in nature.
2. Whenever I tried other germination methods, I always had some issues. Sometimes there was not enough water, and they simply dried out, or I overwatered them, they got no air, and they chocked themselves to death.
I personally don't like to give unnecessary stress to my plants, because in my opinion every tiny movement can make significant changes in the final yield. That's why I love to germinate and harvest them in the same pot without repotting.
The lamp distance to the plants is 100 cm, and the lights are dimmed to 80% from the start.
The first week was flawless. All of them are growing at the same speed. The plants feel very nice. I gave them nutes for the first time, now they are drinking it, so we will see the progress next week.
This week was just as usual as any other... The planta feel nice, ther wad no issue with them so far. I gave veg nutrtients for the last time. Next week I will start to give them flowering nutrients.
This is the first week of flowering. I've changed the nutes from veg to flowering. The plants look incredible! I had to raise the LEDs to 100 centimetres from the plant again, because I've noticed that they get too much light. This week I have a new family member, her name is Sarracenia. She will help me to get rid of gnats. This will be an experiment, I'll add some more carnivorous plants in the future updates!
This was a beautiful week. The girls started to flower, they feel really nice. There were no significant changes, everything goes as expected. A ladybug visited my garden, I decided to keep her as protection from mites. I never had problems with them, but we can never know. :)
This week the plants started to flower rapidly. I started partially with defoliation, so I've started to remove the excess leaves, and flowers. I will continue with the process next week. The girls look happy, and healthy, there was no issue so far. I had to raise the lights, because they were too close to them, so I still keep the lights at 80 centimetres from the plants. I had to reduce the humidity to 40%. because it is flowering time. I will start giving only flowering nutrients + green sensation from next week, and then my girls will explode! I don't really know what else I can say, this was just a regular normal week. See you next week! 🙏
This is a wonderful week of flowering. This week I had to reduce the dosage of my main flowering nutrient, because I started to give them green sensation. I will increase the dose later on step by step back to normal as I see that the girls are okay with it. I had to increase the light distance again, because some of the leaves started to bleach as the lights were too close. That's it for now, I am hoping to see a nice progress in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
This is just a regular week of blooming. The plants feel really happy after all. They got almost the the full dose of Green Sensation, and blooming nutrients. Next week they will get the full dose. I am also giving them a little bit more water with the nutrients than I should, because I've noticed that these plants are really sensitive to overfeeding. They need less nutrients than the rest of my plants before.
This was a productive week for the girls. The buds are forming pretty well, some of the lower leaves started to die off, which indicates that the harvest will be soon. :) I had to raise the lights again, so the distance is still 80 centimetres, and I've raised the light output to 100%, because I'd like to see as much trichomes, as possible. One of the plants is maturing a little bit slower, so I will see if the amount of ligh is good, or too much. I gave them the full dose of nutrients for the first time.
Here we go again, another week and a half passed, I am a little bit late with updating this week. I defoliated them, so the buds will access more light, than before. The plant that started to mature faster is now slowed down, so I gave her a little bit of nutes this week. Overall the plants feel really good, I expect to have the harvest around week 11-12. The trichomes are milky colour right now, and I would like to wait for the amber ones, because I'd like to grow a proper indica this time. Stay tuned 🙏
This is the last week, when I gave nutrients to my girls. I think the harvest will be next week, or in 2 weeks. I had some trouble with them, because I increased the lights a couple of weeks ago, and they started foxtailing, and one of the plants turned a little bit red, because she tried to protect herself from the strong light. I decreased the lights a week ago back to 80%, but now as I' giving them only water I raised it again to 100%. These girls are more sensitive to strong light.
Note for myself for the future:
Only increase the lights if I stopped with the nutes, and I started flushing, because that will be only 1-2 weeks of intensive light. Overall they look, and smell incredible, can't wait to harvest them.
Merry Christmas!
I had an amazing harvest this time. 380 gramms of dry bud+ 40 g of trimmings. This plant was easy to grow, but it took a little bit longer than expected.
