so after she sprouted her tap root I placed her in a jiffy cup with promix and nothing else. After a few days of light I prepared her final 3gal fabric pot with fox farm ocean forest. I ended up ripping up a bunch of holes in the side of the jiffy cup and tore off the entire bottom so her roots could expand down and not rely on her to rip thru it herself.
Not a whole lot to talk about at the moment. In the next few weeks I start to notice some leaf issues that brings up a good point of not too overreact to something. Sometimes its a non issue:)
So this is my first growing experience with autoflowers and I am curious what they have to offer. We are 3 weeks from planting and I noticed some spots and discolored patches on the leaves which had me concerned. Is this the infamous tobacco mosaic virus{tmv}, cause at the time I smoked cigarettes and thought maybe I had a role in this. I did a ton of research on tmv and anything else that could cause these issues, nothing seemed to fit the description to what was happening so I reached out to fastbuds directly and they had thought maybe a pest infestation but that wasn't the case because I had set up preventive measures before I started and there was no visible pest in sight. They had also mentioned that I should raise my light because i asked them if it was normal for the three strains i had to flower so early at day21. It concerned me that they were particularly small when they started to show pistils but raising the lights and preflower stretch is crazy! Oh height is a guess as I wasn't measuring them.
Not Much to say on this week, I stopped taking so many pics of her around this time and the upcoming weeks. I have been doing very light lst and got a couple colas going. I definitely could have done a lot more lst but the spots on the leaves were still on my mind. I couldn't come up with an answer to it other than some mild leaf septoria. I like to use something taught to me as a kid, try to find the answer myself multiple times and take breaks when frustrated then go back at the books then After feeling exhausted of my outcome i reach out to others for an answer. I love the internet for this, millions of people to help in your pocket, when you need.
We couldn't come up with an answer on why the leaves were like that, In the meantime of getting the consensus as to what the issue is, I start to notice the tops, more particularly the new growth being twisted with burnt tips. Having not added any fertilizers at this point besides what's in ffof i knew it was not nute burn. I referenced a 'diagnose your plant' diagram and suspected I had the start of potassium deficiency. Luckily I had some Happy frog dry amendment to add. I ended up adding a quarter of what was recommended because doing some research on nutes and what kind i wanted to try a lot of the helpful info was adding less than they say.
Sorry for the lack of pictures on week 6, I went on a 6 day vacation and left my brother in charge, if anyone ever had to do this, you know its terrifying because they don't share the same passion for it as you do. I meant to give him detailed instructions on watering because I went organic dry amendments so I'm feeding the soil microbiology not the roots so all I have to do is water but the night before was a cluster of everything not going as planned. Where I went on vacation in the mountain's i didn't have service so when I did remember to tell him the instructions on watering and keeping the tents temps down it was too late. I was able to give brief instructions but upon returning home i noticed they weren't followed but hey its my fault! The girls were really stressed by heat and lack of proper water. They were looking like they were ready to be tossed but I gave them some water and a few days they looked fine.
I haven't really done much lst but I honestly love how the three colas are growing then the main top, its aesthetically pleasing to me. Oh the gelato is the top right plant, those leaf markings we had earlier doesn't seem to be affecting the plant at all. The potassium deficiency we had earlier has set us back a week on development, compared to her roommates which will have their own diaries.
Well as you can see by the leaves we had nute burn at some point in her life but nothing of much concern. We were battling a calmag{forgot which one it was} issue and im thinking the blitz red stems were a result. Some weeks were better but i guess to a degree it helped defoliate herself.
I don't have a way to show my trich shots yet but will do something about that later, I wanna say she followed the breeders suggested timeline but I pushed her a little longer to the point i could physically see the amber trichs it was quite impressive and interestingly enough she's the one I liked the most smoke wise.
