This will be just a small grow along side my vegetables I'm growing in my closet. My grow tent with my monster board 240W light is being used for another 4 - 5 weeks. I have Super Lemon Haze and Euphoria cbd growing in there right now. Sorry for now diary on that grow.

How is everybody germinating their Autoflower seeds? Let me know. I have had 3 failures with my Sweet Mango Autos from Green House Seeds.

I soak my seeds in water for 24-36 hours. Then I plant them in moist soil or peat pellet. During this critical "start of life" phase you have to be careful to NOT over water. If your seeds turn black or a tap root or sprout emerges and dies soon after it was probably too much water. I personally do not like the paper towel method. The tap root is very delicate and is easily damaged. Also, if you check the paper towel before bed you might have almost nothing but by the time you get home from work the next day the root can be much longer making it more difficult to handle and plant without damage. Mother nature doesn't use a paper towel so I don't feel bad about not using one either. The paper towel does have the benefit of allowing you to see when the seed has sprouted. But, if you just plant it you will know in a day or two anyhow.

Does anyone use a heat mat when germinating autos? Is it possible for the heat mat to overheat the taproot as it pops out of the husk and into the paper towel? this may have been the case with my second seed. Thanks

I use a heat mat, but I do my germination in soil which would certainly buffer the temperatures. I set for 78f and put the sensor either deep in one of the pots or under one of the pots/cups so it reads accurately for the bottom of the strata.

- This seed popped after about 10 hours soaked in water and then 2 days in soil. - I made my own living soil as the breakdown above shows using Gaia green, Promix, and worm castings + beneficials. - Currently under a 38 watt t5 bulb but as soon as it breaks through the seed husk I will put it under my Spider Farmer sf-600 (74W). - Just keeping the area around the seed moist and not wetting the whole pot yet. - Oct 13: - I moved the plant from the T5 bulb to my veg closet under the Spider Farmer SF-600 led. - One cotyledon leaf fell off when the husk came off. - Maybe a bit leggy but not too sure. Never had a leggy plant before. - I've been spraying it a couple of times a day to moisten the soil around the seedling. - Spraying it with water that has small amounts of superThrive, Hydrozyme and 1/8 tsp of soluble seaweed extract from Gaia Green Organics.

Has anyone ever had a cotyledon leaf fall off of an autoflower as the seed husk was coming off? One of mine did from my sweet mango auto. The 2 first "true" leaves are present and seem to be growing. Just wondering if it will be heavily stunted because of this. Converse away :)

I had the entire head fall off one of my zkittlez auto and with 48 hrs 2 true leaves had broken out the top of the stem and I had no stunted issues so it's up to you if you want to give it a couple of days see how she develops or cut your losses 🙏

October 21, 2021: - Just watered with a spray bottle for the first week and gave it 1L of water 2 days ago for the first time. - This seedling started with one cotyledon leaf from the start. She then got a little leggy, maybe because of the lack of light intake because of the one cotyledon leaf? She is showing damage on the first "true" leaves and the stem is a little purple. The leaves look strange in general. - I'm not enjoying these genetics so far since it's the 1st of 4 seeds that I got to germinate and have had these many problems. I've done the same thing to my Bloody Skunk Auto from Sweet Seeds and have had 0 problems, check out that diary for details.

The second seed got off to a great start germinating. It then since went a little brown on the taproot. I believe it might be because of the heat mat I had to plate placed on. I put it in a 3Gal fabric pot of homemade soil with Gaia green organic slow-release fertilizer. I will update the mixture in week one.

So the seed that I soaked for 20 hours or so may have gotten waterlogged. it has yet to show signs of opening in the paper towel. I started another seed on Sept 29 at night by just putting it in the paper towel and skipping the soaking stage. That 2nd seed has already started to open. I think this will be the way I germinate from now on, skipping the soak stage.

@DreamIT, Thank you. This is more of an experimental grow so I know what to expect with autoflowers. I have more Sweet Mango Autos, Bloody Skunk Auto and Super Lemon Haze Autos to come.
