Growing local once again with a new offering from the Niagara Seed Bank, Candyland Peyote.
Candyland Peyote Strain produces a powerful and long-lasting sensation while being surprisingly simple to grow. This cannabis strain is the hybrid of Platinum Cookies and Granddaddy Purple strains; it has a complex yet lovely flavor. It tastes earthy but still soft and creamy, just like a fruity latte. This Sativa-dominant strain is highly potent, with THC levels ranging from 20 to 26%.
Standard germination stuff. Soaked seed in water overnight. Moved seed to wet paper towel and placed inside plastic baggie. Baggie was placed in shoebox that was sitting on a heat mat. After 48 hours I transferred sprouted seed into a pete plug. Seedling moved into net pot and 5 gallon DWC bucket today, 8 days after dropping the seed.
Off we grow again 🌱
All good in the Candyland Peyote hood.
I've been top-feeding her every other day over the past week. I'm going easier on the nutes this time around - EC running at about .4 currently.
Roots not broken through the net pot yet but should be any day now.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
No issues at all with the Candyland Peyote. She's making herself right at home in her bucket and starting to beef up.
Rez change today with a slight increase in nutes; still treading on the light side with EC running .4 - .5.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote is doing fine. A fair bit of growth since last week. Although she's stavia dominant, she's sure growing like an indica.
Slight bump in nutes with today's rez change - EC .5 (250PPM). Some brown areas on the roots which I think can be attributed the the VeloKelp - it's a little silty.
FIMed her two days ago. We'll flip the lights next week, after 4 weeks of veg.
Thanks for checking in ✌️
All good in Candyland. No issues to report.
Did a bit of defoliation and removed some lower branches to get things ready for the ScrOG and the flipping of the lights to flower; likely by the end of the week.
Increased nutes slightly again this week - EC is running around .6 (290 PPM). PH has been in range, running between 5.9 - 6.5 through the week.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote doing just fine. Looking strong and healthy with no issues to report.
I flipped the light to 12/12 three days ago so she's just begun her stretch. She's only grown a couple of inches since last week but I expect more vigorous growth over the next couple of weeks. The ScrOG is now in place and I'll be folding and tucking as she grows. Did a little more defoliation, removing some of the larger fan leaves that were eclipsing the bud sites beneath.
Added flowering nutes with the rez change today. Bumped things up a bit, her EC is reading 1.0 (500 PPM). PH has been really stable most of the week, right around 6.1 most of the time.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote is growing very well. She hasn't stretched as much as the Fire OG and being of smaller stature I boosted her bucket about 6" to even out the canopies.
EC has been running around 1 throughout the week with PH running between 6 - 6.4. Rez change today.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote is doing great.
She doesn't have nearly the vertical stature of her tent mate, the Fire OG and her stretch has been really quite modest, growing only 4" during the past week. Her sprawl has been impressive though and she's filling out her side of the ScrOG pretty well. I boosted her bucket another couple of inches just to try keep the canopy somewhat even. The Fire OG has 10" on her.
Flowers are popping and she's looking really strong and healthy.
EC has been running between 1 - 1.2 (500-600 PPM) through the week and PH 6 - 6.3. Rez change today. No big changes.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote is popping! I'm very happy with her progress.
Although a foot smaller than the Fire OG beside her, she's nicely established in her half of the tent - very full and healthy. I've got some undergrowth beneath the canopy to take care of and other than that, no issues to deal with 😀
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote is doing wonderfully. Her tops are popping and already a fair bit of frost on the shingles.❄️
Her EC has been running between 1.1 - 1.3 through the week and PH between 5.9 - 6.2.
Got around to doing some branch management and cut away some wannabes from beneath the canopy; should provide some additional airflow.
Very pleased with her progress.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Looking sweet in Candyland. She's cruising along, trouble free.
Some nice colours starting to emerge in her buds - light purple and pink hues.
Her EC/PH have been very stable throughout the week. EC has been right around 1.1 and PH has ranged between 5.9 and 6.2 👍 Rez change a couple of days ago.
Still a ways to go - 4 or 5 more weeks. Lots of time for this Candy to get sticky.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Smooth sailing in Candyland.
She's got some lovely dark purple fan leaves - fortunately characteristic of this strain and not a deficiency 😅 Buds are super frosty and oh so sticky.
EC has been steady between 1 & 1.1 and PH has been running between 5.9 - 6.1.
Can't wait to sample this candy!
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
A lot of frosting in the Candyland Peyote side of the tent. This girl is cruising along with no issues. Buds are very frosty and sticky.
Rinse, lather, repeat with her feeding regime. Keeping her PH between 5.8 and 6.1 and EC is running 1 - 1.1.
About 3 more weeks to go. Looking forward to the finish.
Seasons greetings to all my GD pals! 🎄💨
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Just a waiting game now. Buds are super frosty and sticky. I did a bit of defoliation just to open up some of the lower bud sites to the light so things can ripen up over these last couple of weeks.
Feeding regime remains the same. No big fluctuations or issues to report. She's been very easy to grow.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Things are frosty in Candyland.
Still some ripening up to do on the lower bud sites. I'm guessing another 10-14 days until harvest.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
So very near harvest time for this frosty wonder. I did a last round of defoliation to open up the lower bud sites to the light in an attempt to squeeze out some further ripening. Unfortunately, she's lagging a little behind the Fire OG that is also in this tent so I'm going to have to pull her a little sooner than I would like - probably by the end of the week.
Trichomes are mostly cloudy throughout the top half of the plant with some amber starting to appear on some up the top bud sites.
I want candy! 🍭 💨
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Candyland Peyote was pretty easy to grow and I had no issues at all with her. Unfortunately, only the top layer of buds really formed nicely, with much of the bud harvested being pretty larfy. Consequently, the net yield was pretty disappointing. In hindsight, I should have probably reduced the number of bud sites to keep her structure more open. Ultimately, I think the time has come for me to up my lighting game and invest in something that has better penetration/coverage throughout the canopy.
It's the buds and the smoke that matter at the end of the day, and I'm more than please with the end result. I'd definitely drop another bean in the future and try to improve on this effort 👍
That's a wrap on this one. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
