Holy Grail Kush. Great to be back into the garden again after the winter off season. I decided to try this one because I have heard a lot of good reviews,, but also because it should be a real quick grow which suits me this time. Again I decided to skip the first few weeks and get to the best bits! So far this has been a great grow with no real hassles. For the first time ever, I’m not gonna do any topping, just let it take it’s natural shape.

Week 6. HG Kush took off with 13cm growth this week. First time I haven’t topped a plant and it’s cool to see it just stretching up more each day. It’s in great shape apart from being in the shed for a day or two because of some bad weather hanging around. It has heaps of lower branches, some which grow right up underneath the big fan leaves, so I tried just tucking in 2 of the biggest fan leaves in behind the branch. I didn’t want to pull off such big ones, so I hope the lower branches will grow a bit further out with the extra light, then I will unfold them. Its silly maybe but worth a try. Really hassle free grow so far with this one 🍻

Week 7. Preflowers showing. Stretched a whopping 20cm this week to 63cm, but it's seems to have slowed down now. Hopefully this will be roughly the max height. A few storms around this week keeping me on my toes but so far lucky to have not had any real issues with this one.

Week 8 HG Kush keeps on stretching out. I thought it was gonna be a short stocky one, but doesn’t look like it. It’s in great shape really, and has the first little buds starting to form. I’m glad I never topped this one because I’m really loving the shape and size.

Week 9 I am loving the shape of HG Kush. So glad I didn't top this one as it has developed into a perfect shape. It seems to naturally allow smaller branches to poke out from around the huge fan leaves, so I haven't needed to remove any of these beautiful big leaves. I'm keen to see how much weight I can pack onto the spire at the top in coming weeks. A big tick so far for DNA and for Holy Grail Kush ✅

Week 10 HG Kush is pumping along now. No more vertical growth, which is ideal. Buds are filling up bit by bit.. and getting a bit of smell coming through now too. I like the shape of this one, it's got strong branches and the buds line up all the way along, rather than spaced apart

Week 12 HG Kush is going pretty well so far. It seems to me like it’s going pretty slowly, but it’s hard to tell when you see it everyday. It’s slower than I expected though. My thinking at first was to try growing Kush because it’s likely to finish quicker,, but I might be wrong assuming this. Also the buds are shaped a lot like rows of marbles, rather than joining up to form big long buds. Seems I was wrong about that too!! I’m getting this weird gold flash on the odd random leaf. I’m not too worried as it’s only here and there. Although I have seen this before, I’m not exactly sure what it is?? I’ve always figured it’s just a touch of burn from a feed that might be a bit hot. But none of the other leaves have any traces at all of this, not even crispy tips,, it almost seems like I could push it a bit more!?! It’s a bit confusing, but I’m not too fussed,, all in all its pretty happy and doing well. A full week of rain has had me on my toes moving in and out of the shed. I’m glad Im using 5 gal grow bags, they are really practical for this.

Week11 A mixed bag this week for HG Kush. After picking off a few leaves here and there, I decided to give the Kush a pretty good haircut, on some good advice from my Thai mate Med. I feel like it was the spark needed, as it has put on noticeably more bulk this week. It has been raining cats and dogs here all week, and poor Kush has spent most of the time in the shed. It sits next to a window so it gets good light all day, but no direct sun though. With plenty of moisture around the bugs are about. If you are in East Coast AUS I recommend having a real good scan of your plants, cos these conditions bring out caterpillars. They can be hard to spot, but anything that looks like rot, or any withered looking leaves around buds are indicators. If you can get em early it’s a bonus, but sometimes it’s just not possible to spot them before the damage is done. 🐛 ☠️

Week 14. On the home stretch now. A final big haircut for HG Kush has helped. I couldn't get home in time to get it out of a heavy downpour recently. Fortunately a couple of sunny days have followed and no damage was done. I was worried about how slow it was maturing but it seems to be changing more recently in a deepening of colour and a rush of deep red pistils. Only a week or so left I reckon. Perfect timing for Christmas 🎄

DNA Holy Grail Kush is some of the best quality I have grown to date. I grew this strain because it's one of a handful of strains in the world that defines a breeder. The quality was there at every point of the grow. Big dark seeds which germinated perfectly. Perfect through the grow, with a small bit of rot (expected in the persistent rain and humidity ) and a few caterpillars the only blemish. Flowers at exactly 9 weeks as advertised. In the end I got 90 grams of premium bud and 10 grams of usable trim. As for the smoke,, awesome taste. Even now it's still a bit grassy in the first weeks, you can still easily tell the signature sweet earthy flavour of the HG Kush. Earthy but not at all harsh, and just the right strength to enjoy all day. It's no wonder this strain has won as many cups as it has, I really recommend this to outdoor growers for the excellent yield and all round quality

DNA Holy Grail Kush just smacks of quality. The seeds are dear as poison but the result sure does live up to the hype. I am very happy to have grown this high quality strain and would definitely recommend it to the outdoor growers out there

I think this would be a good time to remove some fan leaves on the low and mid part of the plant. Should help with fattenting up of the buds.

Hi @Shooey, yeah, smaller leaves do pop up a day or two later. So, it is a couple of weeks for trimming. Actually, i do trim for a few days. Wife do complain about me spending time in the garden feeding mosquitoes rather helping out around the house.

@Med_in_Tropic, geez you are on to it med! I took all the real big ones off earlier in the week. Just the large ones attached directly to the stem as they were blocking light. I was second guessing myself but it's good to hear you agree. I noticed some of the remaining leaves growing in size, almost as though they realised they needed to replace the job of the ones I removed! Cheers med

You might try using the soil microbe Bt to control the caterpillars. Food safe pesticide that photodegrades so I think it’s fine to use. Cheers.
