Both seeds germinated and sprouted. Of the five I originally purchased 4 of them were good. One did germinate but didn't make it to seedling. I'm using a top-feed system with emitters at the base of the plant as well as Deep Water Culture. I'll run the top feed all the way to harvest, it can't hurt.
This is my first Hydro grow and so far I'm quite pleased with the results. pH has been a bit all over the map, but it's now stabilized around 6.3 on the high side of the desired range. I'll start with a lower pH when I change the water at the end of week two.
Using General Hydroponics Flora 3 part nutrition system and Hydroguard to prevent root rot.
Just found these cool clips for LST from Engineered Essentials https://engineeredessentials.com/collections/plant-trainers-for-low-stress-training They look like an elegant way to train my plants. I'll keep everyone posted on how they work.
Second solution change. Filled buckets the day before to allow water to stabilize and reach room temp before adding nutrients and adjusting pH. The pH stabilized last week at around 6.3. Starting a bit lower at 5.7 so if it inches up I shouldn't have to adjust to stay in range. Both plants are looking strong and growing fast. Waiting for my LST clips to arrive, I'll prolly start LST sometime later in this week or early in the next. Not going to do any pruning of these girls just LST.
Started LST on the taller of the two plants using the new clips I got from Engineered Essentials (https://engineeredessentials.com/collections/plant-trainers-for-low-stress-training/products/adjustable-plant-trainer-10-pack?fbclid=IwAR0_JkIPYbPCR4MU9E1nL1WFg57Ni_1BoHzEEUEQSItY8mQt1VZW5S2ZvLc). They are inexpensive and work really well. I'll let you all know how they work over time. Very easy to attach and much easier than tying them down with string or pipe cleaners.
This is my first hydro grow. Looks like we've flipped to flower about a week sooner than in soil. Both plants are doing great adding about an inch of height a day. The LST clips are working great and both plants are thriving.
Added some additional LST to the taller plant, both are doing great. I'm very pleased that I switched from soil to hydro. Much more control and my plants are bigger and healthier than ever before. Don't know if I'll harvest sooner than soil but the number of buds I'm seeing is easily double from the last time I grew this strain in soil. Hydro is the way to go for me from now on.
This is my first hydro grow and I am super impressed with the whole process. Not sure if things are moving faster than in soil, but the plants I'm growing now are at least twice as big as anything I've grown in soil. The same batch of seeds as a previous grow in soil and these are way bigger and have way more buds than when I grew in soil. I'm a 100% hydro convert. I'll not grow in soil again
These girls have grown to at least twice the size of any plants I've grown before in soil. Totally convinced that hydro is the way to go. They are looking great and ripening nicely. Expect to harvest in the next 2-3 weeks. Taking longer than expected but I'll be patient to allow them to fully mature
In hindsight, I think I should have trimmed back the large base leaves so they could send more energy to the flowers. Both plants grew to be quite bushy and I think it caused the buds to be a bit smaller than when I've grown in soil. The yield was way better and it smokes very well I'll let then cure a few weeks before I go back and re-sample. So happy I switched to hydroponic. Didn't speed things up much, but the yield was way better than any I've grown in soil. I won't go back.
