Mikeinthekeys Put 4 seeds in a shot glass in my cupboard 10/11 All 4 germinated by 10/13. Used tweezers to transfer to pots. Ran out of soil so I have 2 in 2.5 gallon pots and 2 in small starter pots. Will transplant to bigger pots once roots grow some more. I have the seeds covered with small Tupperware containers to keep the humidity up. By 10/15 all the 🌱 have pushed through the soil and were looking great. By this morning, 10/16, I noticed some of the sprouts are experiencing some light burn issues. Upstretched and yellowing leaves, and reddish stems. I moved the lights up to 12” and switched the lights from 24 on to 16/8.

It seems these Mars hydro lights are not so great. This is my third grow and having the same issue every time. Red stems where they are exposed to light. Yellowing leaves. But when I move the lights further away, stretching is very bad. Should I just get new light?

Mikeinthekeys Overall Things seem to be going ok. Had a yellow spot on one of my girls, contributing it to either light burn or overwatering. Moved the light up to 24" and held off on watering for a few days until the soil was dry the first top inch. So I only watered once yesterday (10/22) throughout this week since 10/16. I also raised the pots off the floor. The small pots (#1 and#2) I have sitting on big fat stems( so they drain better) on top of Tupperware containers to get them the same distance away from the light as my other 2 in big pots. The 2 big pots are also raised off the floor wit Tupperware. I also turned my exhaust fan up a bit as the girls seem to be taking a while to dry. Are there any particular training techniques you guys find exceptionally successful? Thinking of doing a manifold. Im growing in a small space, 2x2 tent and want to maximize my yield for the space. Do you think creating a manifold with 8 colas on each plant will be too much for this tent? I also have another 2x2 setup that is unused at the moment so I have more room than just this space. Thanks for everybody's support! Ya'll have been so helpful I really appreciate you guys!

Mikeinthekeys Week 2. Slowly bumped up the light schedule to 18 on. Noticing #3 and #4 are growing wider and taller than #1 and #2. Likely due to being in bigger pots. I am not seeing roots at the bottom of #1 and #2 so not ready to transfer to big pots, I have some 2.5 gal pots of used ocean forest soil/mushroom compost mix that has been sitting for about 2 weeks which I will transfer into once the roots show through the bottom. Although #3 is growing more rapidly than 1 and 2, it seems to be drowning in this big pot, you can notice the leaves are reaching up, the top inch of soil is dry but below that is very wet. I have not watered #3 and #4 at all this week while I watered #1 and #2 twice. Will wait a bit more for 3 and 4 to dry out a bit more to water. Added a fan blowing into the tent and a dehumidifier outside the tent to hopefully get 3 and 4 to dry out quicker. Will keep a close eye on 1 and 2 so they don't dry out. Hoping to do my first topping later this week after they hit 6 nodes. Will top at third node and defoliate below the third node to prep for manifolds.

Mikeinthekeys Wow, #4 is really taking off, #3 is not far behind. #1 and #2 seem to have gotten used to their small pots even though I haven't seen roots coming out of the bottom, the difference in size prompted me to get them in bigger pots 11/3. Soil is a mix of used and flushed ocean forest/mushroom compost/ coco. This morning I pinched the main stem on #4 just below where I am going to top it. This has proven in the past to really strengthen and thicken up the main stem on my past plants. I will leave the others alone for now. Looks like ill be topping tomorrow morning.

Mikeinthekeys Did my first topping and defoliation almost immediately after posting last week. #3 & #4 are beasts compared to #1 & #2. Fresh Fox Farm Ocean Forest > Used+Mushroom compost(MC). Ph runoff from the fresh Ocean Forest is 6.5, while the runoff from the UsedFFOF+MC is 6.0 The runoff from the MC Soil left a nasty residue in the bottom of my tent and noticed it was a bit darker and not reflecting as much light so I cleaned it up and replaced my Tupperware with a bit more proper plant tray. I used a basket I found in a dumpster, cut the sides off and they fit together perfectly to create a free 2x2 grated plant tray! A week after my first topping #3&4 had 4 nodes on each top so I topped them and defoliated the second node leaving nodes 1 & 3 on each main stem leaving a total of 8 colas. They are flourishing in the Fox Farm Ocean Forest and these Mars Hydro lights are actually doing really well for these girls at 18 inches. I have also been using HST training on #3&4 by pinching the stems just below the nodes where it is still soft, you may be able to see in the pics they are giving them nice thick woody branches. I will wait another week to see how #1&2 hold up I might scrap them and put #3&4 in their own tents depending on how big they get. they are in 2.5 gal now.Any suggestions on moving to a bigger pot?

Mikeinthekeys #3 and #4 are taking off! responding very well to their training. along with the LST you can see in the pics I have been Using HST by pinching the soft stems of the new growth. Still just using plain 6.5 Ph'd water 2x a week. They are drinking much more now. Will not use nutes for #3 &#4 until flower. Thinking maybe 2 more weeks before flipping the lights to 12-12? I think I used too much mushroom compost in my soil mix for #1 & #2.Looking very yellow with some browning spots on the older leaves, Very slow to almost no growth. Earlier in the week I was thinking about tossing them but decided to just let them grow for now. Added some Fox farm Grow Big, Big Bloom, and cal Mag 11/19. Will see how things go. Will be starting a new diary with ILGM Super lemon haze Auto & ILGM Grandaddy Purple Auto real soon!

Mikeinthekeys just been letting them grow, while watering twice this week. Did a pretty good defoliation 12/4, and HST by pinching the branches just below the lowest node after defoliating. Think I will switch her to flower tonight 12/5.

Mikeinthekeys 12/8 - Switched to 12 hour light cycle 12/10 - Watered the girls with a quart each of a 1/4 recommended strength doses of grow big and tiger bloom followed by a quart of regular ph'd water. forgot to check tds but girls seemed to have liked it. will bump up to half strength nutrients next watering. 12/12 - Girls are looking good after training. A few colas on #4 are a little lower than the others so ill let them off their training wire for a few days. Will likely do a last defoliation towards the end of this week.

Mikeinthekeys These girls have been pounding these nutrients! They are very hungry I started at half strength went to full strength, and now am giving them a little extra nutrients with no signs of burn and great growth over the past couple weeks. I think this will max out my nutrient regimen. Just ordered the Open sesame, beastie blooms, and cha Ching fertilizers hopefully next round will maximize yield even more with this strain. Since #3 is so short I gave her a little boost up towards the light with another pot, I take her down when I water so she drains properly. Her canopy has evened outa little after making this move hopefully #4 will not be too affected. I out some foil on the side of #3's pot so it will reflect more light towards #4

Mikeinthekeys Have been watering with plain water since flushing last week. No signs of deficiencies with these babies, which I am experiencing in my other grow tent with 2 GDP autos and a Super lemon haze. Gave another round of feeding, adding cha Ching to build up the resins. Am already seeing a few amber trichomes, so possibly one more feeding, then flushing, then 2 more weeks of plain water and these girls should be ready. Im out of nuts to smoke so I chopped a little sampler off #4, which had approx. %5 amber trichomes. Am thinking 3-4 more weeks before chopping. These buds are looking and feeling so much denser than my last few organic grows which I was not using nutrients. Smelling very funky.

Gilgamesh
