Is it OK that my first set of fingers, well other then the start leaves and the two singles, came out as 5 and not 3? Sorry, I am not up on the correct terms, fingers meaning the jagged leaves. This is my first grow.

I might have some stretching going on. New light and I set it at the 24" recommendation. Added some dry soil to help protect the stem and assist with the stretch. No ferts yet as the soil should be good. Any tips/advice always welcome. Plastic bag canopy used between day 3 and day 7. Removed at day 7.

Good growth during the second week. She started to over hang the solo cup so I transplanted into a 1 gallon container. Next go around I might try planting directly into the 5 gal container. Transplant was stressful for me but the plant didn't skip a beat. After 2 days no drooping at all and more growth. Should have waited another week on the transplant but was worried about the watering as it was impossible to check. You can see where I cut out the cup so I could feel the soil. Furnace is starting to come on for the house due to the lower temperatures outside. Having a hard time keep the humidity up even with a humidifier inside the closet. Easy to keep temps up though. :)

What a week for growth! The transplant must have been a success. The 1 gallon pot is much nicer and easier to judge water levels. I will start adding some extra nutrients next week. Starting very small and building it up. I posed a question on the number of fingers this week. My second node or whatever they are called came out with 5 fingers. I skipped the 3 finger spot. The newest leaves appear to have seven fingers. Being the first time every change is a stressor. :)

Nothing is really any different. Watering about every 4th day when the soil is dry. I check the PH and adjust it, room temp on the water. This started just after the watering I did last Wednesday. Watered again today and it looks worse. Everything I see says over watering.

She wants to grow that's for sure, 9 cardinal rules have to be in some form of conjunction, how is the drainage on your soil? Adequate aeration is as important as water, id hazard a guess you are suffocating the roots in those plastic death cups, leaves are full of water but unable to breathe, loss of breathing inhibits growth, puncture a 100 holes all around that plant pot and underneath, have a fan directly blast air on the plants, Air pruning pots would eradicate overwatering given the soil has adequate amendments to hold moisture. Id also get a probe to the canopy level and adjust the height of the plant so the leaf canopy reaches around 85 Farenheight, with the extra water buildup in the soil you will want to maximize water uptake through root absorption via photosynthesis, optimal photosynthesis is achieved at a leaf surface temp of 86, anything above 86 will tell the plant to inhibit growth so make sure to keep raising it up as the plant grows. She is beautiful, she just needs a little more air in that soil, more drainage more air, only water her the next time she looks that droopy, let her tell you when its time, she is a weed after all, but a lazy weed, fat and sick full of water.

I asked a couple of questions last week and it looks like I am an over watering fiend. Growth slowed down some, I assume due to that fact. I raised the lights a few inches to see if I can get just a bit more height. I am not seeing any issues on the leaves, maybe a bit on the light green side on the first and second set. Slowly introducing nutrients.

I almost didn't post this week. The plant is really struggling after the water and container issues. I doubt is has grown more than an inch with no new leaves. I transplanted into the 5 gallon and the 1 gallon pot was basically a soggy bog of roots. The 1 gal pot was highly recommended due to all of the air holes on each terrace level. I guess they were right, holy cow. I should have taken a picture but was so worried about getting it into soil I missed my chance. I had no idea they grew this fast. I bet it outgrew the 1g in 5 days. I haven't watered at all in a week so today I did some bottom watering to perhaps entice the roots out of that mess they are in. Just poured about a cup and let the felt container absorb it.

Cal-Mag to the rescue. Two inches of growth since adding some Cal-Mag to the watering. Looks like I am finally past the root ball, over water, root lock mess I was in. Nothing much else to report. Next go around I am planting directly into the 5 gal. Maybe another week or 3 days and then a top. This transfer method between different sized planting pots and now a topping coming up - that is too much stress in my opinion.

What a week for growth. Almost doubled in size in one week. The 5 gal container really allowed the roots to go. As fast as this grows in new pots I am sure it will be slowing down again in another week. She is getting about a solo cup every 3rd day. Sprayed some more cal mag mix on the soil and soaked the bottom of the container on water days to try and get the roots to go low. I still haven't topped her yet. Not sure what to do to be honest. The issues I had have slowed down the veg phase so I may post a question next week. Next week is a milestone - kept a plant alive for 45 days.

Trimmed some of the lower leaves that were blocking those two shoots that look promising. Other than that possibility, no real training has taken place. It looks to me like a prime candidate for lollipopping. I am thinking of going to flower on Jan 5th but will wait if suggested.
