Cuttings from GDP and Blueberry into rockwool cubes. 45 degree stem cut with sharp knife while submerged underwater. Scored back of stem 3 times and dipped in gel and then powder rooting hormone. Cubes into humidity dome on heat mat set to 23C, misting twice daily. Shade on top of dome to reduce light, but under dimmed SF-1000 18hours.

Rooted clones growing vigorously. Looking for a home for the extra Blueberries, would hate to have to throw them out. Who thought it would be so hard to give away healthy clones?

Blueberry and GDP loving their new pots and growing aggressively. Topped them both and tied their branches down for a cup shape. Blueberry will get a big pot next transplant and go into the flower tent. GDP will stay in the veg tent and get trained into a bonsai mother.

GDP mother looking sickly. No amount of nutes will make her happy so time for a big root chop. Never done this before so we will see how it all works out...

A little scary to chop off so much of the root mass, but the GDP mother has recovered well and new growth is a richer green than before. Big defoliation has revealed a very nicely trained open cup shape that should yield plenty of clones on a regular basis.

Gdp bonsai has lots of new rich green foliage, but some deficiencies showing. Possibly magnesium so increasing calmg. Also concerned about powdery mildew since my flowering blueberry under the other light seems to have a little. Treating both with a 0.3% hydrogen peroxide spray daily but doesn't seem to help very much. Will increase concentration to 0.6% and see if that does the trick without hurting the leaves.

Bonsai was due for a trim, and generally looking kinda sickly. Mottled leaves are hopefully just from my laziness in failing to PH water every time, or from being rootbound. Couldn't find anyone interested in cuttings so into the compost they go. Repotted from 2L plastic container into 1 gallon fabric pot with promix organic veg, enhanced perlite, worm castings, and seafood compost. Watered thoroughly and sprayed remaining foliage with cyclone 15ml/L as preventative measure since I'm having some powdery mildew issues in the other tent in the same room. Humidity is very dry intentionally to deal with the PM, and will stay that way all winter because the plants are in the furnace room. What's the harm in low RH anyway? Hoping to take better care of her for the next 6 weeks as the Blueberry SCROG in the tent finishes flowering. Then, I will repot the bonsai into an 8 gal fabric pot and scrog her in the tent. Then it'll be time to start a CBD plant from seed! Been a while... (The other plants in the veg tent are thornless blackberries. They are loving the conditions and I plan to clone the growing tips again this month with the goal of having a dozen healthy canes to go into the ground in the spring.)

Thinned her out a bit this week rather than an aggressive cropping. Been a bit sickly lately so I stopped all nutes and flushed with ph 6 water all week. Seems to have done well with that. Blueberry is almost finished in the flower tent so may SCROG the GDP mother next. Also tempted to pop the CBD seeds I bought, or the autoflower freebie that came with them. So many decisions!

Bonsai moved out of the nursery and into the tent today. Repotted into a 7gal fabric pot with an organic potting soil, worm castings, seafood compost, and basalt dust. Somehow I had done a terrible job of repotting her last time into the brown 2gal and there were lots of empty spots where there should have been soil - whoops! Hopefully I did a better transplant this time. I won't feed her much this week since the soil is so rich. I had wanted to wait until the new @spiderfarmer se7000 arrived before flowering, since this bonsai is what won the Halloween photo contest, but the blueberry fem I flowered in the tent is done and I need the nursery for my thornless blackberry clones. For now, she is under a Sunsystem 315W CMH at 4200K. Hopefully the se7000 will arrive in the next couple weeks and I can get a new tent and fan and move this girl into that to finish flowering. I'll keep the bonsai on 18/6 for about a week while she gets used to the new container, and then flip to flower.

Aggressive battle against thrips this week. Defoliated affected leaves and caught about 60 thrips in 24 hours on yellow sticky traps. Treated with Lost Coast plant therapy 5ml:500ml H2O via foliar spray drench before lights out, then dusting of diatomaceous earth over soil and leaves the following morning. Let that sit on the plant for 3 days, then another Lost Coast treatment. Today, a few affected leaves left but have clearly knocked the thrip populations down. Will spray Lost Coast again tonight, then another 3 days of diatomaceous earth, and hopefully one last Lost Coast treatment after that and with a little luck can stay thrip-free for flower. Last veg nute feeding today, flipped to 12/12 light. Some minor low-stress training to level canopy started a few days ago. Will implement the SCROG net again once stretch begins. (Update: My prize from the Halloween @spiderfarmer contest arrived this week! Didn't get any replies to my messages asking about it, but it just showed up via Purolator one morning after 5 weeks. Ordered a new 4x4 tent since the se7000 is too big for my 3x3 and still waiting for that to arrive but reorganized the grow room to make space in the mean time. Also bought a new 16" oscillating fan from Hurricane to hopefully improve air circulation and reduce the change of powdery mildew.) (Edit: I have been having lots of problems posting photos to my diary which is why I haven't updated in a while. Tech support finally fixed posting so I was able to make this entry, but I tried another week and the same problem has returned! Hoping they can get it working so I can bring everyone up to date as I am now 4 weeks into flowering.)

@spiderfarmer se7000 Halloween contest prize light has arrived and I got a new 4x4 tent to accommodate it! No signs of thrips but I sprayed with Lost Coast again and then sprinkled with diatomaceous earth. Plenty of air flow with the new Hurricane 16" fan and a small floor fan. Very excited to finish the grow under the new light. Can't figure out how to change the light type to se7000 for this diary but maybe I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks @spiderfarmer!

1 month into flower, canopy nice and flat with healthy buds fattening nicely. Thrips seem to be totally gone but I'm leaving the yellow traps there just in case and monitoring carefully. (Nursery in the same room with the sf1000 has fungus gnats that we are working to knock down). No smell yet from the GDP and haven't bothered to filter exhaust air as a result. New 6" exhaust fan plus the 16" Hurricane keep temps right around 25C with the @spiderfarmer se7000 at 80% power, and 18C with the light off at night. Grow is in my furnace room so it's quite dry, especially during the winter. Last week I started noticing brown spots on some fan leaves that look like a calcium or magnesium deficiency. This is strange, because I have been feeding 2ml/L CalMag, but I have been adjusting nutrient solution to 5.9-6.3 so I am beginning to suspect nutrient lock out due to low PH. I will water at 6.5-6.8 for a week and see if I can get the brown spots under control. Yesterday's watering was at 6.7 and runoff was 6.3, which lends evidence to my theory that ph might have been too low at the roots. (Note: I'm starting to think that my VPN might have something to do with my photo posting problems from earlier weeks. Posting today from work without issues.)

Buds fattening up nicely this week. Might be my imagination, but I think the molasses is really helping with bulk. After seeing some social media posts featuring the @spiderfarmer se7000 much closer to the canopy than what I've been running, I decided to drop the light from 22" down to 14" from the scrog net. Will monitor to see about light stress and adjust accordingly. I have been running the light at 80% output this whole time for no particular reason, so if there's light stress I'll dial it back a little instead of raising it up since this light is such a beast. Apparent cal/mg deficiencies are not showing up in any new leaves now that I adjusted ph up to 6.5-6.7 range for feeding and watering so I think it was nute lock out after all. Still no smell to speak of, unless you touch the buds in which case the resin is very stinky and sticky. At this rate, I might get through the whole grow without needing to open my new carbon filter but I guess we will see. Picked up a usb microscope last week that has made checking trichomes much easier too. Will be fun to include 100x zoom photos for the rest of this grow.

Happy Harvest Day!

Yield was 303g dried from the one big plant scrogged under my 700W Spiderfarmer LED. Very happy with this grow. Buds are dense and smell earthy and tangy. Smoke is quite smooth, with a nice buzz that comes on slow and mellow. I find the Grand Daddy Purps to be great for household chores and focus, and also for creativity. It makes gardening a real joy, and I also like it for more routine stuff like cleaning the house. Not much of a body stone considering it is indica leaning, and I did not find that it gave me the munchies. Absolutely no paranoia, and generally a lovely plant.
