Stuck her in a glass of water, a suggested germination method by the seed bank. Waited 24hrs and came back to her at the bottom of the cup but no tap root yet so I left her alone. Came back the day after and she had a tap root a little under a half inch so I put her in a jiffy cup with just promix soil that has no nutrients in it to begin with.
Planted her about an inch down in some promix that contains no nutrients because I plan on putting her in a 3 gall fabric pot with foxfarm ocean forest. I did my research before doing so and read various forums talking about how foxfarm is too hot for seedlings so the jiffy cup method without nutes will work fine. The plan is to have the roots search for water in the first week then she should have a long enough root system to access the nutrients in the ffof with being too small to handle it. I did tare off the bottom and sides of the jiffy cup so she didn't have to punch thru the cup
So on day 21 I noticed all the girls, Purple lemonade, gelato and original sour diesel from fastbuds all started showing pistils thus letting me know they were heading into preflower, at this point all ive had to do is water and this simple approach is just that simple, and easy. Not having to mix any nutrients means i spend less time watering and having to really maintain anything in here. I was hoping to get at least another week or two of veg time to be able to lst her more effectively but its an auto, its in her nature to do what she wants when she wants. I have been watering at a ph of 6.8 and since her leaves have reached the edge of the pot means her roots have as well so they dont need to search for water anymore and i can saturate the whole pot now every 4 days or more. I cant quite remember how long it was taking the soil to dry out.
At this point I have started some lst, I probably should have been more liberal with it but ive just been training some of the side branches to get more light. Still have only had to water with a ph of 6.8 and using about 3/4 a gallon to saturate the pot. She really exploded when she hit preflower which is nice because i wasn't overly impressed on how small she was when she started. Not having to really do much in the garden equated to not having so many pictures in some weeks because after I check if they need water or not i go on about my day, and will occasionally check the temp at random parts of the day. I havent amended the soil yet which will play a role in some deficiencies with the gelato later but not the purple lemonade. I have a fly strip and some random chunks of soap for some preventive measures but it honestly wasnt needed, the fly strip fell into one of the pots and got a bunch of dirt on it so i decided not to hang it back up
Not much to say about this week, I did notice some yellowing towards the bottom of the canopy but i wasn't overly concerned. I top Dressed with a quarter cup of happy frog fruit and flower which is less than what they suggest but i didn't want to add that much based off prior forum members having some issues.
Well we got the purple pheno and ive heard about a green pheno of the purple lemonade. Honestly im happy she is purple thru her genetics instead of having to lower the temp to bring out some colors. I only choose her cause she was purple...nothing more lol.
The weeks are not too accurate, but overall really like how she is turning out, we are a couple weeks away from chop so the yellowing in her leaves are not a problem as it means shes using all the nutrients she has left.
Happy Tuesday! I wish you the best day today, inside and outside your grow space! Please say hello of you ever visit my page.
Peace and love!
