We are starting off with the exciting Mimosa x Orange Punch. We have high expectations for this strain but low expectations for our skills. We are pretty much stacked when it comes to our equipment and setup, so fingers crossed guys! 👽 We started off by soaking the seeds for 24h in diluted Nitrozyme (5ml/l). After, almost all of the seeds had germinated. Then, we filled the bottom of our propagator with thoroughly rinsed volcanic rock. We decided to use a heat mat below the tray as our grow room is a bit cold. We soaked our Root Riot cubes in Formulex (3m/l) making sure they were properly moist, but not dripping wet. Next step was sowing the seeds in the cubes. We were delighted to see that all 12 of our seeds had popped open in the Nitrozyme solution 🙌. After sowing the seeds we realized we hadn't planted the seeds with the tap root down, so we "gently" dug them out and re-planted them the right way round (rookie moves, guys 😅). We transfered the domed propagator into our little tent, turned on the heat mat, and installed the humidity/temperature sensor. We switched off the light in the tent, zipped up, and waited.

Barney's Farm didn't let us down and all 12 of our seeds sprouted out of their Root Riot cubes 👌 We decided to skip moving our seedling into intermediary pots, instead we re-potted them directly in their final 19L pots. We laced each of the planting holes with 1g of Platinium Hydroponics' Invasion T (Trichoderma powder) before gently placing in each seedling. Then, we prepared a solution containing Formulex and Green Fuse ROOT stimulator from Growth Technology, as well as Rhizoponics from Platinium Hydroponics, making sure pH was at 6.0 and EC in the range of 0.8-1.0. Each plant was watered thoroughly until runoff. After that, the pots were placed in their Autopot trays and moved in the 150x150 cm main tent. We decided to provide a bit of extra CO2 by hanging three "Smart CO2" bags over our plants. After using a single Sanlight Evo 5-150 for a day we realized overheating wouldn't be a problem with these brilliant LED lights. So the next day we switched on the other one! 👽😎 We are currently running them at 40 % brightness, 40 cm above the top of our tallest plant. The day temperature inside the tent stabilizes at 26 C with 65-70 % humidity. All 12 of our babies look great and are growing their first set of true leaves (except #5 who is lagging a bit). There has been a problem with thrips around the growing place and we have hoped that they don't infestate our grow tents. Some thrips have been seen flying around the grow room. The infested plants have been bug sprayed outside the grow room. It was a tough week setting things up, but we are proud of ourselves! 💪

Week 2 was a bit dramatic for us since 3 of our 12 seedlings didn't survive our brutal transplanting. We heard that we have too many plants and our pots are too big. Well, at least the plant amount sorted itself out. Luckily, the rest of them seem to be doing fine enough. Some obvious signs of transplant such as wavy leaves and one stunted/mutated leaf. Some of the seedlings stretched too much so we had to give them some more growing media and a stick or two for support. We turned on the light a bit late at the mini tent, so maybe because of that? We lightly watered the plants with a diluted nutrient solution whenever the root riot cubes seemed to be drying off. Some of our girls are growing much faster than the others. Our lights are at 40% intensity and they seem to be doing the trick. We are misting our plants daily with a diluted Nitrozyme&Superdrive solution. The problem with thrips in the grow area continues and they have been seen in the grow tent. Thus, the plants have been sprayed with a bug spray once a week and two glue traps have been hung in the tent. We hope (pray) the problem goes away finally.

The plants have seemingly survived the transplant shock and the wavyness of the leaves has not continued. New growth seems to be fine, even though a bit light colored. One girl's mutated/stunted leaf is apparent and she won't be in the running to become America's Next Top Mother Plant. All of our plants had grown to at least 5 nodes so we decided to FIM them. They bounced back almost immediately and are much bushier! 😍 We put the Smart CO2 bags on the floor because that's where our air intake is. The lights were turned to 60% intensity. We finally installed our Autopot/Flexitank setup at the end of week 3 (after some silly delays). Our exhaust fan's integrated temperature control is keeping our environment very close to optimal 🙌. Also, we are considering getting a third light to fully optimize our lighting conditions. We started seeing some strange discoloration on the foliage. Additionally, we are noticing a bit of "clawing". We figured it is either magnesium or potassium deficiency, or possibly nutrient burn. Maybe the 1.4 EC solution was too much for our girls to handle? At the same time we haven't been watering them consistently (or almost at all), so it's probably that. They are still growing fine, so we are trying not to panic... The thrips situation is better. Still, around 2 per day can be seen flying in the grow area. We haven't bug sprayed the plants again because we want them to get settled better before that. All other plants next to the grow area have been evacuated to different premises where the problem continues. Annoying little critters.

We went a bit crazy this week and got a third lamp. The lights are now at 25 and 30 cm from the tallest plant. According to Sanlight, it's optimal for our tent size and with CO2 added. Also, we added another CO2 bag hanging in the tent. According to the app Photone, which displays the PPFD of the lamps, the PPFD in our tent is around 500. Did some flushing with Cal mag, which we hope helped with the deficiencies seen on the leaves. Either or, our girls seem to be finally growing well and hydrated with the Autopots. New growth seems to be healthy. We had to get a dehumidifier because of the increasing humidity. Currently balancing between humidity and temperature because the winter is getting cold around here. We started doing LST this week. Some of the girls get the stick and some are getting tied up. They seem to be liking it 👹 We are hoping next weekend for a full and healthy canopy, so we can flip the flower.

This week the girls were getting a bit heavy leafed and sweaty. Getting into LST techniques, we went a bit crazy with the defoliation for some of the plants. Their growth seems a bit stunted so we moved them to the center to fill out the canopy with the bigger plants. Probably gonna have to veg a bit longer than we were hoping. Growth seems good though with some leaf tips yellowing. Hopefully it's just the old nutrient deficiency that should be now fixed. The canopy looks nice and even. The dehumidifier gets filled too fast, so we should've gotten a bigger one. Currently trying to keep the humidity at max 70% but we are struggling when the tank gets filled up. After getting two fans and still struggling with the airflow and sweaty leaves, we got a better third fan and stopped using the other two. We got a small greenhouse heater for our tent because we opened the window due to the growing humidity. It's winter around here. Main issues for the upcoming weeks seem to be getting the temperature and humidity in control before flowering. Right at the end of the week we installed our SCROG.

Lots of SCROG work this week tucking the girls in. It seems to be very rewarding but takes a lot of time. The plants seem to have grown a lot in just a couple of days this week. Really happy about that 😌 It's been a good week and it feels like some of the work put in seems to be showing. We are having some issues with the pH raising in our tank. It was 6.6 today so we lowered it. Hopefully that's not the cause of the yellowing leaf tips. Will have to keep a better eye on the pH from now on. Humidity and lack of space keeps making some leaves wet, so we put a third fan under the canopy. Let's hope the air circulation is sufficient now. We are done with defoliation for now. One lonely thrip was seen flying around the grow area but they are getting less and less. We've been anticipating flipping the flower the whole week. Got a better dehumidifier at the end of the week, and did it. Humidity was finally in check and the flower was flipped on day 41 😎 Every SCROG hole was filled with a bud site before the flip. That amounts to a crazy number of 225. Let's see how they develop!
