Time to get this journal up and running! The larger girl is 1 week old today the other bean I planted at the same time didn’t pop so that’s why the other girl is smaller she’s is a few days behind. Either way both are looking good so far. The bigger one had some funky first leaves but nothing to worry about in my book. This grow I’m following the auto flower rules to a T so I planted directly in their final homes (no transplanting) and just doing LST this round only. Maybe minor defoliation but we will see how bushy they get I guess. Only plain water for now and just enough to wet around the plants. I did solo cups last round before transplanting and found that to be very easy, so will see how it goes this way. Anywho one week in the books will post again on Friday!
Jeez! Really been battling it out this week in the tent! I’ve been fighting high temperatures (hot in souther CA right now), fungus gnats, and some my own stupidity and the ladies have had a tough time in my opinion so far as a result. They’re still looking ok and going strong considering it’s been 88-91 degrees in the tent when I come home and check my plants so now I have to open my whole garage at night to finally get them a bit of cool air. Didn’t have this issue last time but it is summer so just have to deal with it. Also had some gnats show up so got some sticky traps and that seemed to do the trick not seeing any today and I put them in on Tuesday. One fell on the plant and when I picked it up I ripped a leaf but she seems to have gotten over it. Anyway the battle rages on!
Weather and bugs under control so things have gotten back to normal in the tent and environment is significantly improved. The one that got yellowed/stunted definitely the smallest one she got passed up by the other OG which was planted later. Not sure exactly what happened with her as they’ve all had same everything and she’s the only one that had any issues. I am man sure it will hurt yield somewhat but what can you do! Anyway started training this week as well just bent them down to expose bud sites and grow them bushy. They’re starting to really take of so next couple weeks just have to stay on top of training and we should be flowering in no time!
Everything coming along nicely this week. They grew quite a bit and underwent a good amount of training as a result. Trying to keep them bushy and get as many “main” tops as I can. I have a feeling the next week or two they will really get their stretch going as the first few pistils have already started to show up! The runty one is bouncing back a bit but I still think she will ultimately be the weakest yield wise...hoping I’m wrong about that. ANYWAY that’s all until next week...
They’ve started the flowering stretch this week. They’re starting to fill out the pots now and grow taller as well. The stunted one is making a comeback but it’s still the smallest of all the girls. She’s looking healthy now though so I’m sure she’ll finish fine! Having a heatwave last couple days but they seem to be taking it in stride so far. I will check back again next week hopefully have some mini buds forming by then!
Rough week this week! I don’t know if it hot where you are but it’s been hitting the 90s in the tent literally everyday for the last week! I have to open up my garage and tent to try and get it to 86 which is as good as it’s getting right now. Hit a high of 93!!! Throughout it all the girls have handled it surprisingly well! Lots of growing and stretching this week. Continuing to LST but starting to ramp it down and just let them do their thing the heat is probably stressful enough! Budlets forming all over the place. Time now for the final stretch and hopefully fatter buds next week! Hopefully weather will mellow out too but might have to just deal with it...
Lots of stretch this week I think they’re done now though. Now it’s time to fatten up hopefully! Was another hot week but they’ve dealt with everything well so far, hopefully they can keep it up through flower. The training looks like it paid off I’ve got multiple tops so looking like yield should be good. I’m betting #2 is going to be best of the bunch! We shall see!!
Kaboom!! Flowers exploding everywhere this week! The stunted one #1 is definitely behind #2 who somehow seems ahead of all the girls despite being planted a few days later. My money is still on #2 to be best yielding plant as well! Trimmed them up a little this week again too. Other than that just cruising through flower I am guessing another 3-4 weeks but will see what the plants say. Looking forward to watching these ladies fatten up!
Still going great this week. #2 definitely ahead of #1 by what looks like at least a week or so which is bizarre since she was planted days later. I’m sure it has to do with #1 being stunted a bit early on in the grow. They’re both going strong and buds are getting fatter and filling in. Not quite as frosty as the Girl Scouts but still looking and smelling great. A few nute feedings left then we will start flushing them. Only a few weeks left until harvest time! Getting excited...the finish line is getting close and I can’t wait to try these girls out!
This was my most disappointing week for these girls because I really realized that #1 is definitely going to underperform in this grow and yield way less than #2. I was worried it would happen but held out hope that she might catch up/bounce back but looking at them this week it’s obvious that whatever stunting/issues she had early on took a toll. I still haven’t figured out what happened either because all 4 plants got same treatment but OG #1 was the only one to have problems. Anyway I’m bummed a bit but not much I can do about it now. #2 looks fantastic my $ is still on her to be the biggest yielder. They can be harvested any day now they’re looking pretty ready just going to flush for a week or so and go from there.
Chopped them down this week! Trimming wasn’t too bad this time either. OG #2 went on day 70 and #1 went on day 75. I’m drying #2 in bags and hanging #1 just testing out different methods see which produces the tastiest buds. #1 went in jars today will keep burping them until they’re really ready. I’ll have true harvest report with weights etc next week or so...
West Coast OG definitely gave me some issues. Originally only 1 of 2 beans popped so I planted a 3rd which ended up being the best plant of all and outgrew the one planted before her. OG #2 is probably my favorite plant of the bunch and I wish #1 came close to being as good. She has issues early on and never was able to Vince fully back. She still produced 44 grams but buds are airy and not very frosty/crystallized either. Especially when compared to #2 which yielded 53 grams of pure fire! So honestly can’t help but be a tad disappointed because #2 shows how much #1 underperformed. It’s still curing but what I’ve smoked has been tasty and very stony mind wandering high which I enjoy. I have a couple more of these so will grow again soon. Hopefully they end up like #2 not #1 though!!!
Like I said overall compared to other plants I grew this round the OGs and OG #1 in particular gave me problems, and in the end she produced inferior herb as well. But #2 was my favorite plant, best yielding and may have produced the best herb. So kind of a wash on this one, had one good and one not so good. Ultimately I will grow this again and other FastBuds strains for sure! Despite my complaints this grow was far from perfect it was way too hot in the tent and we had bug problems too so I would like to give them another try under better conditions and see what they can really do! Overall I’m happy with this grow and looking forward to starting my next adventure with FastBuds and Grow Diaries!
So you have 4 autos ready to flush and cut? The GSC look a lot nicer, but your GSC look fantastic. These girls look really nice as well. I wonder if heat had any effect on that one plant. You had said that you thought heat might've played a factor in your overall grow.
This was an excellent use of space. I'm trying to utilize my grow space better. The size of your plants would be perfect if I wanted to grow 4 plants at once.
@Quexos, I would think it’s strain if #2 didn’t have fat rocks growing lol I think I just fucked up #1 or it was a crummy seed I guess just not as strong as the other girl apparently I’m not sure but I’m sure it’ll be good enough just not great like the other one...
@TreeTent310, It could be that your strain/phenotype has very airy buds. I've noticed some strains at the dispensaries are airy , and I'm always told that its the strain. Same thing was said when I was buying from the local dealers. I haven't read that airy buds are heat related. However, my Royal Creamatic grow was a little airy. Heart of the buds were nice and tight though.
I wonder if it could be a characteristic of the Rudelaris that makes it an auto?
@Quexos, yessir all 4 been flushed for about a week now I want to go one more week if I can but they’re looking pretty done so not sure if they will make it until next weekend. Thanks man I totally recommend you try it I think our training methods are similar and you could definitely pull off running a couple more plants at a time as long as they don’t get too huge. I’m sure the heat didn’t help any but it’s strange that only 1:4 of the plants was really bothered by it. I’m pretty bummed on her right now buds look kind of airy even the main and it’s not even close to the size of the other one. OG#2 has a side nug that looks like #1’s main top so I already know that plant is going to suffer yield wise. Can’t do much about it now so just hoping for the best come chop time. I’ll probably let her go the longest of all in hopes she plumps up...not sure it’ll happen though.
Great looking buds maturing on your girl! They appear rock solid!
Once you start flushing and cutting back on the water, they are gong to start smelling even more!
@Quexos, when to harvest is still something I wrestle with for sure. I guess in my mind I’d rather wait longer than take them too soon. I just started flushing this week so I want to go at least until next week with just water and see how they look at that point. I’m with you though, at least 2 of my 4 girls aren’t making it more weeks for sure the other 2 a little behind so they may go a bit longer. I’m ok with that because trimming can be a pain in the ass so spreading it out over a few days is cool with me. This is always the toughest time of the entire grow for me because I agonize over when to stop giving nutrients and when they’re done enough!! In all honesty I’m sure I’d be satisfied with results if I took them down today but I still prefer to flush a bit more and see if they get just a tiny bit danker/fatter/stinkier etc. Thanks as usual for your advice/comments! Always welcome my brother!
@TreeTent310, If you are already seeing amber trichomes, you are not going to make it 2 weeks. At the end its always so difficult to tell when you are harvesting at the right time. Lotsa second guessing. I waited for a week or so for my last grow to amber up, but it never did.
Then I read some articles that said not all strains end up with amber trichomes. I'm not sure about that, but it gives you something else to consider when harvesting.
Makes your head spin.😵
@Quexos, #1 not looking as good as #2 though that stunting early on did make a big difference. I think #2 might be done closer to next week. Already seeing some amber trichomes starting to show up on her so no more nutes from here on out just plain ph water for all the ladies. They smell a lot when out of the tent! Hopefully just fatten up a tiny bit more and they’ll get the cut next week or 2 but I don’t think they’ll make it 2...
I'd agree with your guess of 3-4 weeks. The breeders are usually pretty close when they give you a harvest time. I'm finding the very end takes the longest. I'm waiting for my trichomes to turn then my current auto is finished. I keep checking everyday, but no change.
I can only imagine what your grow tent smells like when you open it first thing in the morning. My little plant gives off a faint aroma. Your 4 girls must blast you with aroma.
@TreeTent310, Those buds will be plenty weighty by the time you are done with this grow. I don't have enough experience to know it autos yield less than photos. It seems like it. I guess you trade time for bud.
I am just waiting for trichomes to change. I'm going to start looking at the calyx as well. I've read that you can use them as an indication of harvest time. I figure I'll do a final flush and 3 days dark some time next week.
@Quexos, I am basing it off the breeders info as well as all the FastBuds journals on here. I haven’t seen many go past 12 weeks really so I’m assuming it’ll be 4 more max but time will tell. I checked your diary out you’re definitely at the end of the road soon! The end is always the loooongest. I have a carbon filter in my tent to keep smell from getting outrageous but yeah these girls already stinking quite a bit and they smell delicious, I’m sure it will intensify in the coming weeks as well which I am looking forward to. Really liking this grow so far! Only thing that could mess it up at this point would be a shitty yield...
Hard to tell from the photos. They look pretty choice. You think it was the strain? Heat issues? I'm finding out that some strains get really pissed off when you do something they don't like. Unfortunately, you invest so much time, you just have to go with it and consume the consequences!
@Quexos, I don’t know why she went south honestly. All of the others came out great so I think she was just extra sensitive. I thought the pictures might show the difference better but if you saw them in person or felt/squeezed them you would know immediately which is which. It’ll still get me stoned just not as awesome as she could’ve been. The good thing is I saw it coming so I mentally prepared to be a little disappointed with her. Better luck on the next round! Thanks as always homie!!
@Tonino, thanks a lot! #1 not looking as dense as #2 I haven’t squeezed them or anything to know for sure just based off looks #1 is going to have airier buds I think. Will know for sure soon! I will post individual weights and stuff so we will see once I break out the scale!
@Magich, thanks these were actually a breeze to train I just bent them all the way down and spread the growth tips in different directions as they grew. I just use a plastic coated 12 gauge wire and make little hooks/stakes to bend down branches. They didn’t stretch too much either so they stayed smaller than I expected but still bushed out with lots of tops so I’m happy with them! #2 especially took training well...she’s a little beast.
Both strains are looking excellent! My tent was getting into the low 90's during our heat wave. I'm not sure if it affected the plant though. Where I live, in the high desert, the weather is strange. It will get into the 90's during the day, but drop to the 70's at night. My plants are so confused.
None of your plants seemed to have any adverse affects from your training regimen. I guess some strains don't mind training.
Got your new grows on follow, bro!
Will probably start training next week if they seem healthy enough. I’m not sure they would appreciate it right now as they’re struggling with other issues.
