New strain new run.
Sour Diesel (Blimburn) x CBDiesel (Crop King)
Excited to see how the 3 gallon buckets with irrigation manifolds perform running 70/30 coco/perlite in a drain to waste setup.
Manually feeding once a day with a 100 ml syringe.
Seedlings were healthy and grew vigorously from the outset.
Once I transplanted the coco pellets into the solo cups I started feeding starting at an EC of .4 and worked up to 1.0 keeping the PH between 6.1 and 6.3.
Topped the plants above the 5th node.
Feeding twice per day with 200 ml per application at an EC of 1.1 and PH between 6.0-6.2.
All plants looking healthy and growing well. Gave first application of Miicrobial Mass.
Transplanted into the 3 gallon medical buckets from thebucketcompany. Everything still going smoothly. Plants are happy under the gavita at 40% power and 50 inches above the top of the plants.
First haircut for these ladies. Stripped all the big fan leaves that were shading growth tips. Anticipating a good strong bounce back as the roots continue to colonize the medium.
Ready to be flipped. Dropped the light down to 36 inches and have it dimmed down to 60%.
Gave them another haircut and took some cuts in case any of these phenos turn out to be a keeper.
Also gave them a foliar application of Chitosal.
Everything cruising along and all the plants look happy and healthy with vigorous growth.
These plants have been growing vigorously. The leaves have a mildly light green hue which I'm assuming is a result of light intensity and slight underfeeding.
I defoliated fairly aggressively and they didn't skip a beat. 3 days later and they had nearly filled the canopy again.
With the flip to 12-12 lighting they've begun stretching and transitioned to flower within about 4-5 days.
I've raised the light up to 30 inches above the canopy because they had stretched to within 20 inches, and I've encountered light stress issues during previous runs. I boosted the intensity of the Gavita from 60-70% to account for the increased lamp to canopy distance, and I'm hoping they only stretch another 12 inches or less because I only have a few additional inches of headroom remaining.
I added Hygrozyme to the reservoir this week. It came highly recommended by my local hydro store for preventing root health issues. I also added Rezin and a Bloom Booster to their nutrient mix at 1/4 strength.
Decided to get even more aggressive with another round defoliation because the canopy got extremely crowded again.
Most of the leaves were laying on top of each other and with humidity creeping up inside the tent (70-80%) it seemed like a recipe for WPM, and ain't nobody got time for that.
As you can see in the last picture (6 days after the buzz cut), they keep pumping out fan leaves like its going out of style.
Stuck with the same early bloom nutrient recipe, switching up slightly to mid bloom recipe next week.
End of week 3 of flower. Stretch has slowed down and plants seem to be close to their final height. Tallest cola is 42 inches and 16 inches from the light. No signs of light stress. Very minor tip burn on fan leaves which I attribute to increased transpiration and water requirements. On day 18 I noticed the largest plant had drank almost all the moisture from the 4 pm fertigation by 6:00 pm and so I've adjusted the feeding frequency and duration.
Lights on 9:00 am
First fertigation @ 9:30 for 30 seconds
2nd fertigation @ 11:00 for 20 seconds
3rd fertigation @ 12:30 for 20 seconds
4th fertigation @ 2:00 for 20 seconds
5th fertigation @ 3:30 for 20 seconds
6th fertigation @ 5:00 for 20 seconds
7th fertigation @ 6:30 for 20 seconds
8th fertigation @ 8:00 for 30 seconds
Lights off at 9:00 pm
Lollipopped the lower half of the plants. No further defoliation planned for the remainder of the cycle.
Light is now@ 78%. Plan is to increase by 1% each day for the next 3 weeks ramping up to 100% by the end of week 6 of flower. Will increase Co2 accordingly up to 1100 ppm.
Day 28 of Flower:
The gavita pro 1700e LED is now up to 85% of full power and the Co2 set-point is up to 950 ppm.
Temperature set-point is 82 F. I have an intake fan connected to the Trollmaster with the DST-1 temperature controller. When the temperature exceeds 82 F the intake fan draws filtered cold air into the tent which lowers the temp to 78-79 F and then shuts off.
The cold air is dry and has been keeping humidity between 50-65%.
The leaves have been showing signs of nutrient burn on their tips, and although the inflow EC has not been very high (1200) there must be salt buildup in the medium that needed to be flushed. I ran a few gallons of RO through each of the buckets. Hope that alleviates the nutrient buildup in the coco.
Fertigation schedule has been adjusted. Fewer events with a higher volume of application. Hope this prevents salt buildup moving forward.
Lights on 9:00 AM
Feed 1 @ 9:30 AM for 55 sec
Feed 2 @ 12:00 PM for 55 sec
Feed 3 @ 2:30 PM for 55 sec
Feed 4 @ 5:00 PM for 55 sec
Feed 5 @ 7:30 PM for 55 sec
Feed 6 @ Lights off (9:00 PM) for 55 sec
Final leaf strip on day 27. I took every fan leaf with a petiole to increase air flow and light penetration through the canopy.
I'm not sure if this is nutrient burn or a cal/mag issue (deficiency or lockout), or something else. Anybody know what is likely to be causing this, and how to treat it?
I don't think it's a cal mag problem. It could be due to using up the potassium. I would be tempted to leave your nutes as is but increase the bloom slightly and see how that goes.
