Can't ask for more than 100% germination rate. I've never had an SFV OG that I liked so hopefully growing my own will result in a better experience than SFV OG from the plugs over the years.
So far so good. The SFV OG Kush is displaying some weird leaf growth but that's typical of some plants I have noticed and nothing to be concerned with.
Both are growing like champs and displaying the normal growth that I have witnessed at this stage in their life span. If I had to pick between the two the Tropicana Cookies is vegging better so far.
Did the transplant from solo cups to 3 gallon fabric pots this week. It's usually about the 3-4 week mark that transplants are happening. I have one right now that's growing super slow but that will be in a future diary.
Both plants have been topped and cloned. Clones went to girlfriend. I've had magnesium issues in the past and decided to start adding Bud Candy earlier to deal with that issue. I was told by a friend that I could have some of his Mykos WP so I am running that this grow to see if it makes any difference in the root zone. This will be the last week that I use the Advanced Nutrient root zone additives until flowering begins.
Plants were growing very vertical and I believe that is because they don't have the space to really stretch out their legs. I've read that when they are close together they grow straight up to compete for the light and when they are spaced out more they grow more bushy. I'm dealing with the vertical growth by using LST. I forgot to use the B-52 I have in earlier weeks so I started using that this week.
Still seeing a little of the interveinal chlorosis so I've added Bud Factor X one week before flowering starts to help deal with any magnesium deficiency issues. Bud Factor X is the most expensive product that I know of from Advanced Nutrients so if it doesn't make any noticeable difference it will be the last time I purchase it. I've decided to use a grid system of the LST ties to help keep the plants short. It's a make shift scrog.
I'm worried that the plants will get too tall for the light and tent set up I have but am pretty confident that the make shift scrog I have set up for them will keep them short enough to make it through without burning them. The light dims also so that helps.
Frost is starting to come in. The Tropicana Cookies is beating the SFV OG Kush in that regards. The SFV OG Kush stretch is more than any plant I have witnessed that I've grown so far.
Nothing unusual to report this week. Business as usual. I lowered the base because the PPM readings have been high but I've come to realize that some plants can handle high PPMs and others can't. I'd like to get to a point where I can be the cannabis plant whisperer and just look at them and know if they can handle more or not.
Welp, the SFV OG Kush is one of the most dank plants I've grown. I have switched from using a carbon filter to eliminate the smell to running the exhaust into the attic. We don't have extreme enough colds or humidity to cause any moisture issues so I figured it'd be the best way to get rid of the smell.
Tropicana Cookies looks like she is going to be a pretty plant during the fading period. It sure would be nice to have a light meter to really dial in the grows. The one I want is $500 last time I checked. Hopeful that they will come down in price with home growing becoming more popular as more states legalize.
Tropicana Cookies is looking beautiful and frosty. The smell on her is tropical....imagine that. SFV OG Kush has a wonderful OG pine/lemon smell to her.
This is the last set of photos I was able to snag before the harvest at 10 week. Both plants went over 10 weeks and I will do a better job of documenting all plants weeks in the future before harvest. I used Advanced Nutrients Flawless Finish to flush the plants for the final two weeks. Nothing really more to report other than the smoke.
Good day smoke. Has a wonderful taste when mixed 50/50 with other buds. My girlfriend and I call it the flavor amplifier. We are hopeful that the next bean will be even better than this one. This is the first SFV OG that I actually have enjoyed some what.
All in all a good strain but I would personally grow it again from a better breeder. This is one of two photos that I grew from one love this cycle and I won't be running one love genetics anymore. You get what you pay for.
Easy to grow strain. Really stacks on the weight with her cookie structure. Has an interesting champagne nose on her. The taste has a bit of that tangie flavor which I've never been a big fan of.
Nice looking plants my friend! If you are worried about height then I would start weaving those branches through the trellis net. The plants will fully recover into a pretty even lower canopy. Fill that space up then trim the lower skirt up. Leave top 3-4 nodes and let her go.
Happy growing and stay high! #420😎😎🍁🍁🤜💨
