Got these 2 as clones, didn't have a good setup as I'm a beginner, put one outside that almost died and went straight to bud and the other with sub par setup. 1st time hydro grower, now if u see next diary I have it sussed better now so I'm calling this week 4
Plant 1 is bigger but seems to have a issue with over watering so I'm letting it dry out to see if that corrects up, solution was 5.5ph so shouldn't be an issue unless over watering which let's minerals build up and becomes toxic causing root rot somet8mes
Plant 2 is smaller but a nice healthy colour and haven't watered it much yet, using a moisture metre to tell when to water and seeing that is healthy as fuck, I'm presuming the bigger plants prob is over watering....
Gunna grow one tradiional organic nutrient companies and the smaller one do exclusively seaweed and my own additives
Plant 1 i(the bigger one) still have issues but is getting passed it. Gave it a little trim underneath, I only trim after I see 4 to 6 nodes on a branch, for tipping especially 6 nodes.
2nd one looks healty azzz and has doubled in size in 2 weeks.has had 1st film.
If all does to plan looking like turning to flower Xmas day
1
When using rockwool cubes take the plastic off hahahaha
So my bigger plant is now growing healthy again...
I've never used rockwool or grown hydro before so mistakes are Gunna happen 1st time round.
So I worked out that I needed to get root zone growth and depth... I'm using DWC but because of probs I was feeding incorrectly so I put water hoses either side just above the roots and so that roots would be encouraged to grow down into the pot and that fixed the problem, upon working that out I accidentally pulled the plastic away from the rockwool and saw mass roots trying to get out so I set them free and did the same for the 2nd plant which looks awesome and ready to explode.
Finally have both plants back on track but wasted 3 weeks of grow time working out the issue so will go to week 12 then turn the plants over probably new years
Ok so this week.. well 4 days since last post but all seems to be working out, 1st timers Gunna make mistakes.
Miss instructions, leave plastic on rofkwool hahahs.
Roots are on their way now, so this week I learnt to look at things, analyse and adapt hahahah
So I started the process to flush for the next 2 weeks... Currently day 6 ... Seems that the plant s prefer just plain old pH correct water ATM.
Will start turning to bud in 9 days.
Cheers
Turning plants this week after a 2 week flush, did a trim on both and added scrog netting.
Will be changing light globes, feed schedule and a Monstar grow bud formula added and adjusted to 6 pH which will go down gradually to 5.
Ok so I turned them on the weekend 36 hrs of darkness then straight to 12/12 flower cycle.
Also upgraded room with sterile stands, better drainage so I don't have to disturb the pots too much, also upgraded air pump to accommodate 4 pots for next grow as well as upgrades to power distro.
Cheers
2nd week flower and have have bud shoots all over the plants, no longer top feed, now just DWC with air on stupid speed hahahah.
Plants are green as fuck now.
Looking forward to the next 5 weeks passing qhick
Ok so this one is 3 days late but n E ways...
2nd week of full flower, plants drinking a half litre or more a day ATM.
Both in full flower now, one I have trimmed all old leaf off and the other left it on so I can see what's better for this strain.
See U next week
Ok so week 17......would actually be week 13 if I adjust for the 4 weeks I didn't know what I was doing hahaha but n e ways, flowers are starting to gain size now so I think 3nd of this month will be harvest time.
Had a look at the roots and they have some issues due to me initially over watering and getting root rot but it will suffice to harvest decent buds, I started adding seaweed extract to the nutrients to prepare for final growth.
Cheera
Buds are getting bigger and in trimming leaves that block the inner canopy.
Also using Seaweed extract in my nutrient mix and lowered the nutrient levels.
Cheers
Almost the end of my 1st grow, buds are looking nice, probably 2 weeks left and then I can evaluate 2 pull or leave another week, the plants will tell me.
Ok so harvested one, I found the CFL lights to be average and I really need to upgrade to good old ballast HP's and MH to get any kind of decent yield, but at least I got my 1st grow to harvest, 2nd plant is a few days behind but will pull it next weekend, and should be 4 ounces wet or so, time to dry and enjoy
Hey friend. Congratulations on getting into growing cannabis. It is a nice-looking tent and DWC setup you have there! Would you be alright with me offering you some pointers based off going through your journal? Id love to be able to help you out for your next attempt if that is alright with you. So first off, Cannabis plants love heat and humidity. The buds hate it, in veg we want steady temperatures of anywhere from 79-84 MAX with lights on and no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. If we allow for too much of a swing between lights on and lights off, Beyond 10 degrees less the plants will stretch a lot. Also if your temperatures are swinging a lot day by day or week by week, Or having your temps swing multiple times a day your plants will just shut down and you can write the day off for growth. This is in veg or flower, Maintaining steady temperature is very important and key to happy healthy growth.
When our plants are small, Our roots are small. What you see above is what is below in a generalistic sense. This is when humidity can play a big role in helping us get a more vigorous healthy veg period. In the first couple weeks, we can run anywhere from 60-70% humidity to help the roots out with some supplemental intake from the leafs.
In flower our temp control and keeping everything consistent becomes more important, In veg you are not on the clock you have unlimited time to recover your plants get them ready for flower then flip the switch. Once you begin down that road on 12/12 every day counts. The temperature will play a big role in how our buds will develop. If our rooms are too hot, We get big airy buds that are more prone to fox tail and will never have that much cake on them. Too low of temps and we get very dense super caked buds but sacrifice a lot of size. The best of both worlds seems to be around 75-79 MAX with lights on and no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. Although once your plants finish their vertical growth by weeks 4-6 of flower we will now want to begin to widen our temperature gap between lights on and lights off. If we now allow for more than 10 degrees less with lights off instead of stretching the plants will send extra energy into the budding process and resin production. We do this each week widening it a bit more each time to finish our plants off nicely.
Also when we de-leaf, Make sure you are not doing it every single day or randomly pulling leafs off your plants. Stick to a schedule and do not break it, Randomly plucking leafs off the plants they will respond by essentially screaming and letting all other plants in the room knowing they are being damaged. The plant itself and all others in the room will shut down growth for 12 hrs when exposed to this. This is not just cannabis plants but plants in general. Make sure to remove all leaf from the house ASAP in a bag and remove any trace of plant matter once you are done from the tent.
When it comes to watering, We generally do a feed, feed, water routine. In hydro 5 PH is a little low I have some hydro experience I found 5.6 to be a good baseline. There are good charts online that show how PH works and what happens when it begins to fall out of the sweet spot in either direction I suggest taking a look if you are interested.
I would recommend looking into VPD, Vapor pressure deficit and how it relates to growing cannabis. It is a great tool for all growers and all-new growers should familiarize themselves with a VPD chart and how to use it. Grab yourself a PAR meter and a thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 62 MAX, These pieces of equipment will really help you grow to your plants needs and get the most from your lights. If you are interested check out my youtube and subscribe, It is linked off my grow diaries profile. I am currently producing a youtube tutorial series for all levels of cannabis growers to use. I can use all the support I can get! Check out my diaries & follow my profile if you have the time. Good luck and if you should ever need any help, Please feel free to ask I am always around.
