Ok so this week.. well 4 days since last post but all seems to be working out, 1st timers Gunna make mistakes.
Miss instructions, leave plastic on rofkwool hahahs.
Roots are on their way now, so this week I learnt to look at things, analyse and adapt hahahah
Hey friend. Congratulations on getting into growing cannabis. It is a nice-looking tent and DWC setup you have there! Would you be alright with me offering you some pointers based off going through your journal? Id love to be able to help you out for your next attempt if that is alright with you. So first off, Cannabis plants love heat and humidity. The buds hate it, in veg we want steady temperatures of anywhere from 79-84 MAX with lights on and no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. If we allow for too much of a swing between lights on and lights off, Beyond 10 degrees less the plants will stretch a lot. Also if your temperatures are swinging a lot day by day or week by week, Or having your temps swing multiple times a day your plants will just shut down and you can write the day off for growth. This is in veg or flower, Maintaining steady temperature is very important and key to happy healthy growth.
When our plants are small, Our roots are small. What you see above is what is below in a generalistic sense. This is when humidity can play a big role in helping us get a more vigorous healthy veg period. In the first couple weeks, we can run anywhere from 60-70% humidity to help the roots out with some supplemental intake from the leafs.
In flower our temp control and keeping everything consistent becomes more important, In veg you are not on the clock you have unlimited time to recover your plants get them ready for flower then flip the switch. Once you begin down that road on 12/12 every day counts. The temperature will play a big role in how our buds will develop. If our rooms are too hot, We get big airy buds that are more prone to fox tail and will never have that much cake on them. Too low of temps and we get very dense super caked buds but sacrifice a lot of size. The best of both worlds seems to be around 75-79 MAX with lights on and no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. Although once your plants finish their vertical growth by weeks 4-6 of flower we will now want to begin to widen our temperature gap between lights on and lights off. If we now allow for more than 10 degrees less with lights off instead of stretching the plants will send extra energy into the budding process and resin production. We do this each week widening it a bit more each time to finish our plants off nicely.
Also when we de-leaf, Make sure you are not doing it every single day or randomly pulling leafs off your plants. Stick to a schedule and do not break it, Randomly plucking leafs off the plants they will respond by essentially screaming and letting all other plants in the room knowing they are being damaged. The plant itself and all others in the room will shut down growth for 12 hrs when exposed to this. This is not just cannabis plants but plants in general. Make sure to remove all leaf from the house ASAP in a bag and remove any trace of plant matter once you are done from the tent.
When it comes to watering, We generally do a feed, feed, water routine. In hydro 5 PH is a little low I have some hydro experience I found 5.6 to be a good baseline. There are good charts online that show how PH works and what happens when it begins to fall out of the sweet spot in either direction I suggest taking a look if you are interested.
I would recommend looking into VPD, Vapor pressure deficit and how it relates to growing cannabis. It is a great tool for all growers and all-new growers should familiarize themselves with a VPD chart and how to use it. Grab yourself a PAR meter and a thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 62 MAX, These pieces of equipment will really help you grow to your plants needs and get the most from your lights. If you are interested check out my youtube and subscribe, It is linked off my grow diaries profile. I am currently producing a youtube tutorial series for all levels of cannabis growers to use. I can use all the support I can get! Check out my diaries & follow my profile if you have the time. Good luck and if you should ever need any help, Please feel free to ask I am always around.
