I'm reusing the Turbo Dirt soil so I'm amending it up with all the Dr Greenthumbs recommended nutrients. It supposes to take full effect after 3 weeks but I'm not losing nearly a month after wasting time growing 3 fucking males. She's not gonna use much of the nutrients for a couple of weeks so we should be good.
I got this strain seeds from a pretty reliable source this time and this specific strain has really good reviews all over the internet so I'm excited to grow (and smoke!) this high sativa beauty.
After 24 hours in glass of water to "wake up" the seeds then straight into substrate. Usually I leave the seedlings outside the tent to protect them from the grow light but I decided to try it differently this grow and they are inside since day one. I reduced the lights to 25% for the first days. Three days after sowed two of them are already showing up and they seem to be quite strong already. Maybe the light? The one sowed into the small plastic pot still hasn't came up and I thought that it might be dead. After some delicate shovelling with a toothpick I found the seed with the taproot coming out half way already so she will be out in few days tops (if I didn't fuck her up messing around it the substrate).
Let's keep an eye on those. I'm gonna try do topping for my first time on one of those plants. Pretty exciting!
They are in that critical stage that anything can go wrong. The one on the small pot seems to be slow since the seed but at least is going on. As soon the flowering plant goes to harvest she's going into the 7 gallon pot. I can't take another mini plant due to that shitty pot. Not much to say about this week. Perhaps about the gnat pretty much being gone since the neem meal? Maybe it's too soon to praise victory.
Well... This week was busy. I harvested one plant and transferred the one from the plastic pot to the 7 gallon smart pot. She was clearly stunned for few days and it seems the transfer socked her even more. It looks like she was having trouble with roots. I guess the pot was holding water and the excess humidity fucked her roots up. But the main root still feels strong and the whole plant is just hanging there for a while. I flushed her real good with some root roids to wash out any shit stuck on the old substrate and gonna keep her quiet as she'll recover soon enough. The other two are thriving. They all got sucked a bit by those mf but they seem to have been gone as the new leaves are spotless green. I'm think about topping at least one of them as I'm kinda out of ideas of new stuff to try. See you all next week. Cheers
As expected two of them are still triving while the stunned one seems to be slowly recovering. I really thought that she wouldn't make it as the humidity at that fucking plastic pot was really damp wet for too long. The secondary roots probably rot down and luckly she was transfered to the smart pot quick enough to avoid irreversible damage. I guess she is just gonna be the little sister as I ain't hold back on none plant to get her to follow them but peharps I'm gonna pull some good lst and scrog pretty soon on her "older" sisters. I'm not sure about the topping though as I don't wanna deal with any more stunning from now on. See ya next week. Cheers 👊😸
Yeah... I decided not doing the topping. It's been fucking hot here and the plants are struggling to deal with that so I'm not putting any more stress on them as the heat is not going away any time soon. I better fix that second fan to get more air circulating in the tent. Got a little over 30° inside the tent this week and the #3 wiltered a little. I had to crack the tent door a little and my cats found their way in to eat the fan leaves. At least they seen to know the right ones they can chew away. lol Anyway they are growing good and dealing as they can with this fucking "heat wave" that seems to be more like an ocean that a fucking passing wave. But climate change is a hoax they say, isn't? Cheers you all and be safe!
Got the main plant some good training to spread the growth within the net. The #2 is kinda already on the right position and the #3 is barely getting any benefits from the net as she is so small that can easely get through the squares. Anyway they are growing consistently strong but it seems that they were asking a bit more food.
I've noticed that the way I been can watering my plants isn't efficient as the water seemed to run from the top through "tunnels" straigth to the bottom and I'd see some runoff after around 3 lts on a 7 gallon pot. The higher part of the pot would be pretty much dry and the soil would be pretty inconsistently damp here and there. So I finally decided to cut off being a tight ass and got a 5lt pressure sprayer and bro... I've been missing shit! The plants drank 6lt each before they started running off and the runoff was totally different from before so I'm guessing that's the proper shit coming out. It's a lot less messy and way cooler to water your plants but it takes time though.
I done some light defoliation taking down the huge fan leaves I've being having since the new lights came into play and cut off some of the lower branches that seemed to be useless as they are growing tall and bushy. I'm going to feed them some blooming nuts and turn to 12/12 mid next week. The #2 is 55cm tall and I don't know how much she's gonna stretch once start flowering so better get her starting now. See yall next week! Happy new year!
Changed it to 12/12 and started feeding bloom stuff as well. They don't seem to grow tall as they haven't stretched much this week. But they are getting bushier and tick so I guess that is good as they are pretty much filling my whole space with green just like I want. The MARS TSL 2000 do a great job in filling the tent with light as the retangular format matches perfectly with my tent. It's worthy to notice that the neem meal became irreplaceable to me now as it destroyed the plagues (gnats and thrips are gone!) and give some boost on the plants everytime I top the pots with it.
Let's hope they start flowering soon enough. I can't wait to smoke some high thc shit as I'm just been able to get indicas lately. See ya next week.
So it seems I've neglected the thrips and they got some good damage on the lower fan leaves. Nothing that could have a big impact but enough to be noticeable. I done two rounds of leave washer using Dr Greenthumbs Reset and removed the leaves that seemed too damaged or to old and low to make any difference to the plant.
They are 100% into flower stage going quickly from only few white hairs coming from the stalk pistils to small flowers everywhere in only few days. They are growing really tall with the #3 surprisingly going near to 80cm tall. I'm guessing they are still going to stretch more so I had to do some adaptations on my current setup to allow more vertical room for the light. I'm planning to replace my fan and carbon filter as it's too noisy and the smell is starting to being noticeable outside the tent. I'm looking the Phresh EC Hyperfan V2 as I can integrate with a climate control later on depending on $$$ and an additional Hyperfan for air intake as well as I don't have any fan blowing air into the tent, only out.
I'm pretty glad with the overall of the plants. They are growing strong, tall, and bushy with several bud sites. The whole setup seems to be working good. The size of the tent could be bigger but I believe that I'm using the given space in the most efficient way possible with few gaps on the mesh to be filled as the branches grow. I guess that I'm not coming back to auto flowers anymore. Those plants are way bigger and stronger than any of my previous autos were. If they put on this strenght towards the flowers I'm looking foward at least 50% more at the scales with just few weeks on top of the autos.
So there they are fully blowing my tent! I got 90cm on the tallest one and wasn't prepared at all to deal with such height! The light were just at the 40cm distance limit from the tallest one and she doesn't look like is going to stop growing so I had to reorganize my setup to fit the light at a higher position. Even though the lights are right there with the filter I guess there's not much light being lost.
The thrips seemed to started to get everywhere and I could spot one of then (several actually) for the first time and they are nasty. I bath the whole plant with more conditioner for a couple of times and I couldn't spot any today but I'm gonna take a closer look tomorrow as today was about lsting all the side branches to fill the mesh as better as possible.
I'm pretty happy with the amount of good potential bud sites. They are several and pretty strong too! I'm guessing that except for some defoliation along the way that's the final shape of the plants. There's plenty of light getting to all important buds and even the lower ones are getting some decent light too (thanks @MarsHydro). I hope they stop stretching and getting those flowers big and chubby soon! Cheers
They finally stopped stretching with the tallest one sitting right on 90cm mark. The bud sites are well determined within the mesh and although there are few naturally higher branches, most of the buds are even in height and seems theres plenty of lateral space as well so the air can flow. My second fan died this week just after few weeks I've done some deep clean and lub on it. It was pretty cheap tho so I got what I've paid for I guess.
They started to dry out the lower fan leaves and looks like they are pumping all those flowers. I might need to pump some more nuts as they are not fattening as good as I expect. Let's hope they are late bloomers. Cheers
Not much to tell about this week. They are just fattening and going through the natural defoliation process. I'm just removing the leaves that are naturally close to fall as the fan leaves are pretty much doing their job up there on the plants. The #2 plant seemed to be having some nitrogen problem as the lower fan leaves were falling off like crazy on the weekend check. I got her some flush with both mixes (growth and bloom) and she is looking better today nearly on the same rhythm that her sisters. I'm guessing that they are going to take more few weeks before getting close to be ready. Week 13 perhaps. Let's hope they fatten those buds soon.
Nothing new going on. Some flowers look clearly bigger than last week but still I'm a bit upset by the results so far. Most of the buds look tiny and I don't have much hope of they getting great perhaps decent if I'm lucky. I'm def getting some different nuts for my next grow and I'm thinking in replacing the Maintenance Solutions combo with an more strong nut combo but I'm keeping the roids as they are basically mycorrhizae, nutrient solubilizing bacteria and a lot of other organic stuff that can be used with other nuts.
So I really gave up on the nuts I've been using since my first grow. I always felt like I was missing something with my plants and this current grow opened my eyes to change things here. First I had to get my setup fixed as heat is fucking up my plants so I got a Hyperfan V2 150 with a Progrow 150 x 500 filter to replace my old inline cheap fan + filter. The filter was going off already so it's going to recycling and the inline fan is now pushing fresh air into the tent so efficiently that the tent is around one Celsius degree lower than outside (but the nooooiseeee!!!). So far the heat issue is gone and now I have to deal with my not fattening flowers. So I know they are late to get some boost but it seems plants #1 and #2 are going to take a little longer than plant #3 that is being chopped down this weekend. So I gave them a good mix of the new set of nuts from GreenPlanet plus my old nuts as they are mostly micros and don't affect the EC which I only went to 900ppm to avoid shocking then on their final weeks.
That's her last week. I'm going to harvest the last tree this weekend. They got pretty much one week apart each to be ripe so I'm confident that the last plants are going to be better than the first one.
Pretty steady plant. They grew really well from seed to harvest. This strain is pretty resistant and recovers well from shocks but seems to be easily disturbed and can get stunned really easy. Started to flower consistently and had several good colas. Very tall strain that can get skinny and bushy at the same time. Great color and size too. I'm going to grow this strain again using GreenPlanet nuts from seed this time.
#1 It seems that she wasn't that much surprising... She endup with the same 33g of the #3 that got stunted for weeks. Pretty weird but not surprising. I'm def changing nuts.
#2 As I was expecting, she made good with 48g of dry bud. Not 2oz as I was hoping but it's a good result for at least one plant.
#3 Not a great result really. But for a plant that got stunted for a couple of weeks on her first weeks of life she got pretty good really. The scales don't show a good number but the experience of recovering this plant is unreplaceable.
