These nutes from Nectar For The Gods are simply amazing! I really wish I had been able to figure how to get the NFTG soil #8 and use that instead of the FF Happy Frog. I think I am going to delay the DWC attempt for a bit and track down some #4 or #8 soil and do a 100% NFTG grow. I'll have to look to see how much it will cost to get into the next regimen up too.
Managing the heat from the new light from Electric Sun has been tricky. There's no heat from the ballast. It is simply the ES-180 heating the air from the power of the photons themselves. Mid-air photonic friction I believe it would be. I got a new input fan for fresh air so that just jumped from 97 to 205 CFM but even THAT didn't help as much. Thankfully a cold snap rolled through so the input air has been colder than normal. Granted, you could hang slabs of beef in my frigid living room now but at least The Princess is nice and comfy now. LOL! This gives me time to work on contingency plans. The very precise and instructional dimmer has helped immensely also. There is definitely a learning curve with this light since it is so different from a normal LED.
Just hit week 3 since pop. I hate how this diary shows the wrong week count. Here are some details on the CO2 PPM. Unfortunately, ALL of the affordable monitors max out at 5000 PPM so I may not be able to get an accurate readings. The $150+ monitors that go up to 9999 PPM do not have guaranteed accuracy over 2000 PPM. WTF??
While I could delay flowing some more and do additional toppings of my toppings I am not going to do it. I have five successful tops and getting 10 full colas off of this in addition to any side branches that pop I think I will be good here. Can I hit that 16 oz Holy Grail on my 6th grow? I dunno but I'm will to give it a shot!! LOL!
Doing some light LST in a day or so just to separate out the branches and get some light into the foliage. It's too early for the side lighting and they need some basic training anyways.
She's happily cruising from veg into flower this week (hopefully). I've been doing very light LST to keep the secondary and tertiary top twin colas in the light. Creative fan leaf weaving helps immensely! I am not going to defoliate her as I want her to have as much photosynthesis as possible while in veg.
Genetics + Nectar For The Gods + new ES-180 V3 light + CO2 bubbler at 2000PPM = great growth so far.
The growth so far has been explosive. Unfortunately, due to all of the additions to the tent it's virtually impossible to tell which are responsible or if it's just the genetics...it's named Mass XXL for a reason! I'm not complaining though. My guess is that it's the steady supply of CO2 during her waking hours. We'll see on the next identical grow with no CO2.
All of that x 10 main colas from topping = decent harvest (hopefully)
***UPDATE FOUR HOURS LATER***
Changed the status of this week from veg to flower. As you can see from the photos it should be productive. All 10 of the mail top split colas are in the early stages of flowering as well as six other smaller satellite colas. There are tiny popcorn nodes further down the stems that I will crush like the energy sapping parasites that they are later this week.
So far, so good!
