First time grower and learning as I go. Just found this site and think it is amazing plus has helped a lot! This is week 4 for my 3 ladies!
Using Fox Farm Organic Ocean Forest Soil which is why I held off on feeding them. I was watering with straight water every other day and did my first feeding on Day 28 with a mix of Fox Farm - TigerBloom/BigBloom - 1.5tsp of each in a gallon of distilled water. With a second feeding tonight
Critical Banana Smoothie - This plant is very bushy, I did small amount of defoliation only on Day 31 as I was worried about cutting on Day 28 because how close the branches were to each other. Afterwards, I didn't like the results of the defoliation. Tried a different approach on Day 33 I tied down end side of the plant. I thought the plant looked much better on Day 35. Not much pre-flowering that is noticeable though I do see hairs coming from the stems. She requires a little more attention and in my case more research but I feel like I'm gaining ground again.
Gelato - Did a small amount of defoliation on Day 28, 31 and liked the results. Pre-flowering is looking great...lots of little pre-buds forming at different locations. So far very easy to handle!
Purple Punch - Did a small amount of defoliation on Day 28, 31 and liked the results. She is a spreader for sure and pre-flowering looks amazing, growing pre-buds everywhere she can. So far she has been the easiest to handle!
So far so good, start of the week 5. Pre-flowering is going great with the Purple Punch and Gelato. After researching it does seem like the Critical Banana does take about 1-2 weeks longer than the other two plants to reach a noticeable pre-flowering stage. I have been watering about 1.5 - 2 cups of distilled water everyday so far all 3 plants seem thirsty, I'm being cautious about over-watering. ̵I̵'̵m̵ ̵a̵l̵s̵o̵ ̵u̵p̵p̵i̵n̵g̵ ̵t̵h̵e̵ ̵a̵m̵o̵u̵n̵t̵ ̵o̵f̵ ̵B̵i̵g̵/̵T̵i̵g̵e̵r̵ ̵B̵l̵o̵o̵m̵ ̵t̵o̵ ̵2̵.̵5̵ ̵t̵s̵p̵/̵g̵a̵l̵ ̵f̵r̵o̵m̵ ̵t̵h̵e̵ ̵1̵.̵5̵ ̵t̵s̵p̵/̵g̵a̵l̵ ̵f̵o̵r̵ ̵f̵e̵e̵d̵i̵n̵g̵ ̵t̵h̵i̵s̵ ̵c̵o̵m̵i̵n̵g̵ ̵S̵a̵t̵u̵r̵d̵a̵y̵. I did notice a little bit of yellow tips on the Gelato, I believe this is just because they were never fed before week 4 so maybe a little bit of a nutrient burn. Will be cautious about upcoming feeding and keep monitoring leaf tips. I placed the Critical Banana on a stand to get it closer to the light since it was so short. Update 12/18/21 - I notice that brown spots were on a couple of the leaves. After troubleshooting I believe I'm dealing with Cal/Mag deficiencies. I'm holding off on feeding them until Sunday night and I'm upping the Tiger Bloom to the recommended amount to give the plants a decent Magnesium dose. I have order the General Hydroponics CALiMAGic 1-0-0 and will hopefully get that in Monday for use.
Did a small Maintenance day on Tuesday this week.
Critical Banana Smoothie - Tied down the side branches to spread the plant out a little more. Very short and bushy. Pre-flowering is more noticeable and looking nice as we head towards the end of the week. Brown spots on the leaves suspect is Cal/Mag deficiencies.
Purple Punch - Very minor defoliation work. This plant is looking beautiful and really have no concerns at the moment. Some of the bottom leaves are getting scarring on them. I suspect light stress.
Gelato - Very minor defoliation work. Flowering is coming along fine however the plant is starting to grow taller than I expected, so a little concerned that it might be too close to the light causing burning. This definitely is making me learn more about LST so I can try to avoid this on future plants. Yellow tips seem to decreased quite a bit towards the end of the week.
Start of Week 6 - Some big changes that I'm implementing this week. I'm switching to a 20 - 4 light schedule to give the plants a chance to rest. Lights will shut off at 11pm - 3am. Changing the dose for feeding to 1 tablespoon of Tiger/Big Bloom per gallon of distilled water. Plant will now be fed on Sundays around 9-10, a couple hours before lights out.
(12/20/21) - CaliMagic arrived and I did the first recommend dose. (CaliMagic - 1tsp/gallon of distilled water.) I watered all 3 plants with this and will monitor progress. Did a plain watering on 12/21/21. (12/24/21) I have done the CaliMagic Dose 3 days in a row. (12/25/21) - Feed them all distilled water today, also performed a pH test on all 3 plants which all seemed normal around 6.4-6.6 pH.
Critical Banana Smoothie - She is not looking good at the moment, Pre-flowering still progressing but she is struggling. Hoping that upping the dose of Tiger Bloom will add extra Magnesium. Waiting on CALiMAGic as of 12/19/21, will applied that once it arrives. I'm concerned about this plant.(12/22/21) Looks like CaliMagic is working so far, noticing the spread of the red-brown dots has stopped. Did some LST...Tighten previous tied down branches, also tied down new branches to help her spread out more. (12/25/21) Did major defoliation on the bottom foliage and where the buds seem really weak and did LST to spread out the plant more. This is just my opinion on this plant going into week 7 tomorrow is that this plant is not for beginners while I'm learning quite a bit about different growing issue with this plant, I'm starting to get little frustrated. I'm still concerned about this plant and what it is going to yield.(Sorry, little rant) I did add more soil to the pot as I noticed that some exposed root was showing from watering.
Purple Punch - Buds are looking awesome, I notice some burning on the lower leaves not really that concerned about it, I think switching the light schedule up will improve this. (12/22/21) Everything is on track and not really seeing any issues at the moment. (12/25/21) Nothing was really done by me this week except watering/feeding, this plant is pretty much on autopilot and the buds are looking amazing! This plant looks beautiful in my opinion!
Gelato - Buds are looking good and tips are not continue to turn yellow, looking good. (12/22/21) Everything is on track and not really seeing any issues at the moment. (12/25/21) Added some more soil to the pot as I noticed some exposed root was showing. Plant is looking really good going into week 7
(12/26/21) - After doing some research, I believe she was nutrient locked the Critical Banana Smoothie which sucks but better than a fungus. So I fed Purple Punch and Gelato their normal feeding with Big/Tiger Bloom mixture and Critical Banana just distilled water in attempt to flush the plant.
(12/27/21) - Big changes! I took down the barrier/shelving to increase the grow space from 3x3 to 4x3. The duel T5 lights that were used for the new plants were removed and 2nd VS1000 LED was put in on 12/27/21. Still just running the 6 inch exhaust fan and achieving negative pressure. Bought a handheld sprayer for watering I believe this will help avoid further erosion and spread the water around the soil better. All plants received distilled water today
(12/28/21)watered all 3 plants with CALiMAGic. I gave little extra to Critical Banana hoping she was flushed and give her a Mg/Ca boost.
(12/29/21)watered all 3 plants with CALiMAGic.
(12/30/21)watered all 3 plants with CALiMAGic.
(12/31/21)watered all plants with distilled water only
(01/01/22)watered all plants with distilled water only
Critical Banana Smoothie - (12/28/21) Noticing increasing spots and yellowing of the leaves. I'm hoping the new space/light and flushing the soil will allow this plant to thrive again. I'm worried that she has been too stressed and will not produced quality buds or even worst herm on me. I'm checking multiple times during the day to make sure that doesn't happen. (1/1/22) Did major defoliation to clean up the plant a bit and use some Tie-down method to give the growing buds some well needed space and light. Might have been overkill but at this point, I'm just learning as I go.
Purple Punch - (12/27/21) Everything looking good, Plant was moved to the center of the room to get max light from both LED to help increase the buds.
Gelato - (12/27/21) Everything looking good, Plant was moved to the center of the room to get max light from both LED to help increase the buds.
(01/02/22) - Unfortunate start of the week for sure...Critical Banana Smoothie was destroyed due to multiple issues with the final straw being bud rot that was starting to take over on the lower branches. It was decided that we should put her down in order to make room for the other plants in the tent. I felt like I've learned a lot from this plant though I wasn't as proactive as I should have been as I was curious to see what would happen. In my opinion this is not a plant for beginners and I'm definitely using what I learned on my future projects to avoid what happen with her. RIP Critical Banana Smoothie.
(01/02/22) Both plants were fed Tiger Bloom a heavy feeding of 4 teaspoon per Gallon of water. This will most likely be the last feeding they receive.
(01/03/22) - Loupe just came in today so I'm able to look at the trichomes closer!
Purple Punch - (01/03/22) Examine the buds with the loupe and notice that some of the Trichomes were cloudy but most of them were clear. I would have to guess from my research I'm about 1 week min to 2 week max before Harvest. Plant will now be only fed Distilled water to begin flushing the plant of chemicals. Buds are looking great and hoping for just a little more growth!(1/06/22) Everything on track just letting her do her thing. (01/07/22) Was able to get some better pictures of the Trichomes, seeing amber on the sugar leaves and cloudiness on the top bud with a few amber in the bud area. Watching the Trichomes more carefully at this point to determine the right time to chop!
Gelato - (01/03/22) Examine the buds with the loupe and notice that the Trichomes were clear. I would have to guess I'm about 1 1/2 week min to 3 week max before Harvest. Plant will most likely be only fed Distilled water to begin flushing the plant of chemicals, I will make this decision at the end of the week for her. Buds are looking great and hoping for just a little more growth!(1/06/22) Everything on track just letting her do her thing. (01/07/22) Was able to get some better pictures of the Trichomes, seeing amber on the sugar leaves and cloudiness on the top bud. Wasn't seeing too many amber on the bud itself. I'm definitely not adding anymore chemicals at this point. Watching the Trichomes more carefully at this point to determine the right time to chop!
(01/09/22) - Didn't water either plant and did a quick check on the Trichomes
(01/10/22) - Water both plants and did a quick check on the Trichomes. I did some defoliation on both plants to clean them up and prepare them for harvest.
(01/11/22) - Decided to commit to not watering them anymore, they had over a week to flush
(01/12/22) - More defoliation on both plants to get as many leaves I could before cutting. Both Plants will now spend 48 hours in the darkness.
(01/14/22) - Chopped both plants down. A little concerned I might have chopped a bit early...my main goal was to go for mostly cloudy with very little amber for this harvest. Buds with stems are hanging upside down and the small buds with no stems are on a drying hanger.
Purple Punch - (01/09/22) Everything looking good, looks like the plant starting use its chlorophyll at a good rate so I assume my flushing is working. Will keep checking the Trichomes. (01/14/22) Wet weight was 1.59oz of Bud not on stems and 4.68oz of bud on stems.
Gelato - (01/09/22) Everything looking good, looks like the plant starting use its chlorophyll at a good rate so I assume my flushing is working. Will keep checking the Trichomes. (01/14/22) Wet weight was 1.54oz of Bud not on stems and 2.49oz of bud on stems.
