Trying out a local seedbank. Niagara Seedbank had some strains that interested me and this was one of them. Moby Wan Chemoby autoflower. No yield history or specific details or even size or grow time available but it’s a cross between Mobydick and Chemdawg. I’m going to be using Nextgen’s Kryptonite Organic Living Soil in hopes to just keep adding water and no nutrients except for maybe Calmag if needed. Because the soil is hot I used solo cups in the middle of plants and used a potting mix from a local grow supply store. Solo cups were removed I just used them to fill the soil in. They are also planted right in 3 gallon fabric pots for this grow.
***Dec 25***
Finally broke the soil and the journey begins above ground!
So the vegetation journey has begun! For now they are just getting a bit of spring water with no ph adjustments but I’m sure that will be changed very soon. I was happy to see these germinated by planting directly in the soil so that makes two methods now I’ve been successful on. Excited to see this soil in action!
Not much new to report just waiting for big growth spurts. Now that the holiday is over I can focus more attention on keeping humidity levels in check too.
They are both continuing to grow at their own pace. Temperatures are a bit lower lately due to the drop in temperature here but nothing to be concerned about. Looking forward to seeing her stretch! I’m making sure to practice my better watering habits on these girls this time.
The girls are thirstier! They seem to be growing nicely too, not a tall stretch but wide and nice to see they are not leggy like my last grow. Obviously proper lighting and air circulation has really helped.
Still looking great, only adding water the nutrients in this soil are providing everything the plant needs. I think this will be the last week of vegetation as the plant is showing the their pistils and should really start showing in the next 7 days I think. Humidity has been tough to control but partly due to the temperatures we have been seeing in the last week or so.
The girls did a little stretching this past week and shifted into full flower mode. Because of my hectic schedule I’ve tried adjusting the watering schedule which has worked out good so far I may have to call in a favour soon though from a good friend. Temperatures have been really cold lately but they don’t seem to mind right now. Till next time folks!
Another solid week in the books. The bud sites are starting to bulk up and she is developing a stronger smell and some frosty leaves. We’ve had some pretty cold weather and the house has been very dry so humidity has been tough to control especially on the weekends when I’m not around much. I haven’t adjusted the ph on any of the waterings and it hasn’t affected it too much I don’t think. This soil is definitely worth looking into for future grows if anybody wants to avoid having to add their own nutrients.
We have finished the 3rd week of flowering and she continues to pack on some frost and more buds. The smell is picking up a bit but nothing too strong, I’ve continued with just watering as per the soil requirements. This is my favourite part of the growing process because everyday something can change! Hoping for a decent yield on these girls and I think I’ll stick to this soil for now. I’ve got several other seeds available to me including some mystery photo seeds so I’ll have to plan the next grow for when I move in March/April.
These ladies continue to fatten up and smell fantastic every day! Still a few weeks to go but lots of trichromes and sugar leaves. I’ve continued with nothing but water and the Kryptonite soil from Nextgen and honestly I could not be happier that the process has proven so easy and flawless. No more second guessing nutrients or worrying about over feeding the plants seems to k ow exactly what they need and take it up when they need it. This is only my second grown but I’m pretty sure I’ll get more yield this time around especially with an extra plant to show for it.
They are both definitely smelling and looking great! 5 weeks of flowering down and a few more to go. Checked the trichromes this morning and no amber ones have shown up but wow looking at them up close they are both very frosty. Much more weight to these buds and obviously it has to do with the time spent under the right amount of light and proper conditions and soil. I thought I’d be watering more but I seem to have the schedule more on point this time around which is obviously a good sign. Very happy with this grow so far and look forward to the harvest on these two lovely ladies!
That’s another wrap, you can see the leaves changing colour and the flowers are still looking and smelling tremendous. Water Friday and Sunday so another watering will be due today it looks like. No amber tri chromes yet but I’m sure in a couple weeks we can trim some leaves and cut them both down to begin drying them out and then curing. This was a fun grow as it did not require much maintenance at all! Loving the soil!
Mar 9/22
Gave the girls a trim today and boy are those flowers chunky! Smells fantastic and looks awesome!
Ended up eating a brownie last night so I didn’t feel like doing the update quite yet lol. I think she is just about done though. Watered again this morning and will keep looking at tri chromes daily to see if any further amber ones appear but right now they are just very frosty and shiny like diamonds. I’m overall very happy with this grow so far.
Will follow up with everyone once I test out the final product but she smells fantastic and is absolutely sticky so I’m expecting a great sativa high based upon the amount of tri chromes that are nice and crystal like and ready not amber dominant at all.
Overall the buds tasted good, they had a berry and herb taste. The buds themselves were leafy but a good leafy, coated in tri chromes and very sugary. The high was good lasted a few hours and we laughed and ate some dinner and enjoyed conversation. I would definitely grow this strain again.
Kryptonite soil by far exceeded my expectations and you get what you pay for. I did not adjust the ph once on this grow and I even switched back and forth between tap and spring water to see if there was any difference. Humidity I find is always the hardest to control but this strain did not seem to mind one bit. My girlfriend and I smoked the buds and both enjoyed it with dinner, high energy and very talkative and no couch lock or anything. Recommend this strain for friends and parties for sure.
@Northern_Ent,
Those are some exciting strains! I have a few more hidden in my arsenal for the spring/summer too. I’ll try growing something outdoor too!
@psuperman, last year was hard due to first try at scale, but definitely all autos are not created equal with some doing much better in our Canadian climate. It’s the overnight lows that can really slow growth, and I started a bit early and then surprisingly cold near the May long weekend really did some damage. Plants looked fine but were definitely a bit stunted after that. Oh well, keep learning.
@Northern_Ent,
Bubbabana Kush I heard was a great strain! So far I’m happy with the seeds from NOS. Compared to my last grow the buds are twice the size on each bud site this time around and they look much fuller. I have some more seeds from NOS too Blue Glue so I’m set for a couple years to be honest with my arsenal of seeds lol. I’ll be following your account going forward to see your grows.
@psuperman, I’ve got four strains from NOS. The Beast, Harambe, Bubbabanana Kush, and then this Moby wan Chemoby. All should be great. Very excited for the coming season. 👍
