This is my first time growing cannabis. I bought 5 feminized mimosa seeds from Dutch Seed Shop. I also had two bonus mimosa seeds from flower I purchased. I started off with 4 seeds from Dutch and tried the bonus ones too. As I suspected the bonus seeds didn’t germinate. But the Dutch seeds 💯 germination! Those first three weeks were very fun 🤩

This week was fun. I decided to top one ☝️🏽 of the four mimosas just to try it out. I also began to see the pistils develop.

Because I topped one of the ladies she had a slight delay in her pistil development. Mimosa #4 is also shorter than her sisters. She didn’t germinate until a week after her sisters. So, I guess that would be expected. This is my first time so I’m allowing myself to fail. But failure is the first step at learning.! Right?! Lol 😝 These plants have been trimmed up twice before initiating the 12/12 light cycle for flowering. I waited five weeks before doing that. Probably could have done it sooner if I didn’t stress out the plants by trimming them.

The smell of Mimosa is getting stronger in this week. The pistils are turning brown and is one to two weeks before harvest. Half of her pistils are brown and her trichomes are milky. Started flushing plants. I’m growing four female mimosa plants. I topped mimosa #1, and Mimosa #2 is almost ready for harvest, mimosa #3 is tall and has big buds, mimosa #4 is stunted and about a week behind all of her sisters.

Grow Questions

My question is what type of seed is better? Auto female, regular, or feminized seeds? I chose feminized seeds for my very first grow. I’m contemplating buying auto female seeds for my next grow. Or should I just stick with feminized seeds? Thanks

If you plan on doing massive grows and collecting pollen/breeding or pheno hunting, then regular seeds are great, clone out a great mother queen. If you want to keep your grows simple and make the hobby less complected feminized seeds are way. there are massive debates about both subjects, reg vs fem and auto vs photo. I've grown autos and photo types, they are both fun and have their own set of needs that are mildly different from each other. I grow fem's as I don't want to have to sort though my plants and my space is tight indoors. Autos are great because you can set it and forget it in terms of light schedules. They will always flower on a internal clock and over all need less nutes as they complete their life cycle faster. Downside you can't clone them and they tend to produce smaller plants vs their photo counterparts because of their set growing clocks internally, but their yield can be impressive once u learn their ways. Photos are great because you can get massive plants/yeilds if done right and clone them if you want, you control the time they switch from vegetative to flower if indoors. downsides are the longer the plants alive the more it will cost in electricity if indoors and longer life means more opportunities for problems with pests or other factors. You can grow a photo plant like a auto and do 12/12 light cycle from seed. best to experiment and see what works best for you.

Today marks 12 weeks from seed for these beauties. They are in their 7th week of flowering 8th week if I count the day I switched light cycle. I gently trimmed a good majority of the fan leaves from the ladies. I also did a couple of HST to a few branches to see if I can get them more resinous. I’ve started flushing out with water and a spoonful of organic coconut water. They smell so good like oranges. 😎

I’m just very happy for this cannabis community without this wonderful resource I wouldn’t have a clue what?/how? To grow. Thanks 🙏🏽 for helping me learn how to grow my medicine.
