- Handheld and online pH and EC meters calibrated.
- Started to fill up canisters with RO water, to let it get to room temperature.
- Rockwool cubes soaked in RO water balanced to pH 5.5, pH level adjusted back down to 5.5 after half an hour of soaking.
- Added 2ml/l of T.A. Root Booster (GHE Bio Root)
- Will try to keep (air) temperature in propagator at 26-28°C, humidity at ~70°C
- 2022-01-01: Seeds planted
- 2022-01-04: First sprouts, seed #1 already at ~2cm, seed #2 just breaking through
- 2022-01-05: both seedlings growing fast, light switched to 18/6
- 2022-01-06: both seedlings ~4cm tall, the first pair of finger leaves already larger than the cotyledons, upped the Root Booster (Bio Root) to 5ml/l, added Humic (Diamond Black) at 3ml/l - but only watering with a couple of drops
- 2022-01-07: roots are showing for both (3-4cm), thinking about moving them to their final homes
2020-01-08, Day 5 since breaking the surface: After finding my plants pretty much dried out, and one root baking in the (artificial) sun, i decided that moving them to the buckets will probably keep them much better hydrated than me checking too little / too often and generally doing it wrong.
2020-01-09, Day 6: The system has been pretty stable, but the water temperature has risen to ~24°C, so i added a DIY chiller made from Peltier elements and CPU coolers. The temperature is now dropping at ~1°C per hour, set to be kept at or below 20°C.
2020-01-10, Day 7: It looks they have fully recovered from the transplanting. If you look closely, you can see the first fan leaves starting to emerge.
2020-01-11, Day 8: The roots have popped through the Hydroton and are now touching the nutrient solution. There hasn't been much progress up top, but i'm expecting this to change from now on.
2020-01-12, Day 9: The roots are now deeply immersed in the nutrient solution, and the first pair of leaves is growing noticeably.
2020-01-13, Day 10: The first pair(s) of leaves is growing nicely. It's gonna be 3 fingers each, as it seems. The DIY Peltier Chiller was replaced by a Hailea Ultra Titan 150 (HC130), which drops the reservoir temperature by 1°C in ~15 minutes.
2020-01-14, Day 11: The right plant is developing its roots and leaves quite a bit more vigorous, i'm hoping that the left plant keeps up. CalMag has been added to get to 1.5ml/l.
2022-01-15, Day 12: Both plants are making good progress, but the left one seems to be 1 day behind with leaves & roots. Nutrients have been upped by 0.5ml/l to 1ml/l.
2022-01-16, Day 13: Growth nominal, no issues besides Leftie still lagging behind
2022-01-17, Day 14: The third node on both plants is now clearly identifiable as 5-finger-leaves
2022-01-18, Day 15: Added some MycorrHydro, increased lamp to 80%. Waiting for a replacement chiller, then i'll do the (by now overdue) nutrient solution change.
2022-01-19, Day 17: Had a minor issue with nutrient lockout, symptoms of Magnesium deficiency, first two sets of leaves suddenly dried up and crumpled up, did a full water change - EC very high because of 2ml/l CalMag
2022-01-20, Day 18: Recovering from the nutrient lockout, i am confident they'll make it
2022-01-21, Day 19: Looks like they're back on track, did the first FIMming
2022-01-22, Day 20: Nothing eventful yet
2022-01-23, Day 21: The FIMming results looks like the Left got cut a bit too much, while the right got cut a bit too much.
2022-01-25, Day 22: The scrubbiness intesifies. Leaf tips show slight burn marks. The difference between over-/under-FIMming becomes very obvious: the new leafs of the Right grow like i didn't FIM them, just that their tips are cut off
2022-01-26, Day 23: New nutrient solution, now with FloraMicro for soft water and without any CalMag
2022-01-27, Day 24: Very strong growth of the lower shoots, both ladies start to look really shaggy
2022-01-28, Day 25: Massive growth, also of the roots. Lower shoots scrambling up the whole structure.
2022-01-30, Day 27: The bushiness intensiefies. Time for some LST, even though i can only do it for the lower branches, as they've gotten so high already (no pun intended)
2022-02-02, Day 30: Added a new fan to cope with the humidity below/inside the bushes, top-down circulation won't help much there. They're getting yuuuge, and the first stigmas have appeared. FIMmed the Right one again, hoping that this gives the Left a little break to catch up in height.
