I'm starting the new year with a Tangerine Dream Auto seed from Grower's Choice Seeds from Eureka, California. My seed, Tangie, is from a 5-pack I bought back in 2020. I've made some upgrades to my setup. The first is a new Mars Hydro TS 1000W light. My grow buddy SmithKind turned me onto this light, and to the Cloudline, and to Boveda packs for curing. I would not be as far a long as I've come "without a little help from my friends", and that includes this community. For this grow, I sealed all the vents in the tent with mylar and duct tape. Odor control is huge at my place. The family doesn't enjoy the odor, and I totally respect that. If I'm unable to control odor, I will need to build a grow house out back - and that would mean more space to grow more plants - oh, the happy irony that will be. Last year with Jack47, I came home from vacation to the entire house smelling like a dank dutch coffeehouse. My wife was not happy, although I absolutely love the smell of growing Cannabis flower. It's on par with the smell from grinding fresh cured flower, and how the pungent aroma fills my nostrils. My Acapulco Goldzilla from last year is so peppery, the whiff almost burns my nose hairs - growing and consuming your own medicine is the best! Anyways, my ventilation is now upgraded with a 6 inch AC Infinity Cloudline T6 and matching carbon filter. I kept my 4 inch carbon filter and matched it with a 4 inch AC Infinity AXIAL S1238 fan with speed controller as my intake. I also have a small Negative Ion Generator plugged in and Bamboo charcoal hanging. For humidity, I will continue using my generic 2 liter and 6 liter Vivosun Cool Mist humidifiers. I also have my old desk fan mounted in the top corner for interior air flow. Tangie sprouted 3 days later on 12/30/21. For germination, I used Rapid Rooter plugs. I soak the plugs first, and then drop a seed in it. I haven't yet perfected my method with these though, and am still experimenting. Per online articles I read, I tore off a piece of plug and covered the seed with it. I keep these soaked in a plastic shot glass in a dark spot for a day, and then move them into a seed tray under the light. The light is 18 inches from the seedling, and intensity was set at 25% for germination, and now set at 50% for the seedling stage. Mars Hydro has a guide on their website to understand the basics of how to operate it. Humidity is running between 75-80, and temperature is currently at 69F. For this grow, I am using Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil with extra Perlite for drainage. The pots are also elevated above the saucer. Right now, I'm just watering around the root plug with water and no fertilizer since the soil is already hot. Cheers to an epic 2022 growing season. -TonkaSun

Tangie is 7 days old, and she's growing nicely. From a sprout, she has had a long stem. Overnight, she grew a new cluster of leaves indicating the seedling stage is almost over. I have not given her any fertilizer yet because the Ocean Forest is already rich in nutrients. Also, she is still on tap water. My ph meter broke, and I have a replacement on order. For week 1, I dropped the light from 18 inches to 16 inches. The Mars Hydro website shows a picture with the light at 12 inches, but everything I read says 18-24, so I split the difference. For the seedling stage, intensity was set at 50%, and I will increase it to 75% starting Week 2.

Tangie is no longer a seedling, and now beginning vegetation. From the seed info, I suspect this stage will only last 2-3 weeks before flowering. I have not yet added any nutrients because of the rich soil. I upped the intensity of the light to 75%, which is what the manufacturer recommends for vegetative phase. I dropped humidity down 5% this week to 65rh. I also added a USB powered CO2 monitor, which revealed my PPM was too high at about 1300. To bring CO2 level below 1000, I increased the speed of my intake fan - I love easy fixes.😉

Day 21 and Tangie looks healthy. I started training on day 16. By day 19 she had new shoots coming up. I fed her a tablespoon of dry fertilizer on Day 15, and have been giving 1/4 gallon of water every other day. Humidity is maintained at 65%, and I will reduce this to 60% tomorrow. Light intensity is at 75% about 20 inches from her tops.

Week 4 is complete, and Tangie's bones are taking shape. I suspect flowering will begin in a week or so, and I am happy with the results from two weeks of training. I dropped humidity down to 55-60% this week, and will maintain 50-55 for the rest of the grow. Temperature has not been an issue at all, and has maintained between 70-80 Fahrenheit since the beginning. Keep on growing Tangie, my beauty!😇

Oh Tangie, how your funky smell turns me on. Day 35, week 5 is complete and Tangerine Dream Auto is showing pistils with a good scent. Her frame is coming together nicely, and flowering is beginning right at week 6. I can't wait to see how the stretch phase turns out. Also this week, my real-world grow buddy turned me on to Recharge. He found it from his local hydroponics shop as an alternative to compost tea. I'm hopeful it will help as Tangie begins to bloom.

Dr. Earth Flower Girl 3.906 mll
Tangie started flowering right at the start of week 6. The pictures are day 42 from sprouting. Everything is looking good, and she is starting to stretch. Temp and humidity remain stable. The smell is contained in my tent, except for when I open to water it, and then get a good whif of her essence.😍 LST is done, and now I'm now just snipping excess fan leaves to keep the colas exposed to the light. I am having to water almost every day now - I guess the drainage is too good. She looks healthy though, so I'm letting her drink as much as she wants. I'm also now giving her Dr. Earth Flower Girl (3-9-4) dry fertilizer and some Recharge tea once a week. Stay tuned...

Happy Harvest Day!

Super easy plant to grow. I'm not sure if I trained her too hard in the beginning, but she did not grow too high, and the yield was small. She smells great, with lots of trichomes.

I did something right, because I was able to get some purple hues in the flowers. Overall yield was small. I might get 2 oz. of cured weed from this harvest. Don't know the effects yet.😊
