Findthelorax First DWC grow. In 8 gallon bubble buckets from PA Hydroponics with airstones, hydroton and rapid rooter. Started germination in RO/DI water 2ppm 72°. No nutrients to start. I'll be Fimming, Supercropping, Lollipopping and Defoliating. Lights will start out at 18/6.
1/15 - looking good, almost sprouted out of rooter.
Setup my water. PH 5.8, ppm 650(slightly high I think)
1/16 - It looks like the Purple Haze x Malawi seed has died. The first two leaves it starts with split apart and the taproot is not growing. I think it got hit with some cold air as it was about -10 outside and some air was getting in.
The other seeds in the same container all were fine so I supposed it was a fluke.
1/17 - Started a Runtz Muffin to replace the P. Haze x Malawi.

Findthelorax Runtz popped up but she looks a little yellow. Checked ph...at 5.8. Just going to keep an eye on her.
1/23 - Per Grow Question I dropped the PPM to around 350 and raised the light so should be closer to 500umol. Runtz looks better today, I think mostly it was getting too much water, the rapid rooter was fully soaked so I lowered the water level a bit also, PH was 6.2 when I checked so I dropped that back to 5.8.

Findthelorax 1/26 Plants are looking great. Haven't had to do anything at all, can't wait to mainline them.
I have 5 autoflowers in the tent also. 1 Should be done in 2-3 weeks, another 4-6 weeks and the other 3 in 4-8 weeks. After they leave i'll just keep the 2 photoperiod plants and mainline until 8-16 colas.
Barney Farm - Runtz Muffin (Zkittlez x Gelato x Orange Punch): Indica 70% - up to 29% THC - Flowering 8 Weeks
Barney Farm - Mimosa x Orange Punch: 65% Indica - up to 30% THC - Flowering 8 Weeks
1/27 PH was 6.8 when I got home and I noticed a small amount of brown on the tip. I think the start of potassium deficiency. I tried to get the PH down and went a bit low. I didn't want to chase the ph so I added a little of my tap water ph 7 and my buckets both sit at 5.5(a little low). I'll check again in the morning. Also last night was -20F and our well froze so I'll have to get that going first.
@Findthelorax Until those roots have reached the nutrient solution and the plant has started actually growing
you don't need the solution to be so "hot" ie full of feed
Also PH should ideally be lower than 6 to allow all macro nutrients to be uptaken
5.7-5.9 is good
Watch the temps of the nutrient solution as it will effect the health of the plant
and oxygen levels
Keep light away from the roots
Good luck
Findthelorax Plants are looking good. The mimosa I believe is at node 5 with 6 barely even starting. I'll wait until the 6th node is growing a bit and then mainline to the 4th node. Been keeping ph about 5.6-5.8 and tds around 400.
Newbie w/rwdc myself. My comments are based entirely on my current grow which is just slightly ahead of yours. Ok, I burned, stunted, locked out, everything you can imagine when I was in seedling and very early veg. Good news... they recovered. My seedlings were larger when I went to hydro. For whatever reason I have decided to keep my plants in nitrogen overload. I also think you are a bit high on Nutrients. Mine started at 780 ppm and self lowered 710 so they will live just curious about yield. I am looking for answers myself my only advice would be make sure the bottom of your root cube is touching or in very active bubbles within your solution. Best of luck... I will be tuning in to learn.

You know I have less experience than you so it's like the blind leading the blind, but I will say this, and I do have experience farming/gardening/landscaping just none with this species. My guess... pH or Nutrients. Man, I have struggled with something that should be so easy. However, I have found, at least with my Platinum OG variety, that pH and Nutrient levels are extremely important. I have always, and I mean always blamed it on too much fertilizer (what country folks call it) but I am beginning to think it is really more of a screwed-up pH. Good luck! My seedlings looked very similar. The good news is they pulled thru. Oh, I'm not sure but I think those cubes have to be pH'ed. I know the pebbles do. I'm pulling for ya man. Maybe someone that knows more than me can give us both some info. Cheers... have a good week!🙏👍🙏

@Wyregrasser, thanks. I did ph my hydroton but didn't really think about the cubes. Something has been slowly rising my ph, I have to bring it down every 3-4 days.
Seems to be the consensus is my solution has too many nutrients. I've been following a lot of royal queen seeds guides which say 350-400 for early growth, 400-500 seedling but I'll try to drop that one a bit more.
Mimosa is looking ready and the runtz will soon to be showing its cotyledon leaves. I have never tried DWC so I hope this goes great for you my friend. Keep up the amazing progress. Good luck stay safe happy growing cheers!!!!! If you have a moment please stop by my YOU DECIDE diary and place a vote.
