Good luck mate, I'm sure you'll figure the light out. Your growth rate seems very slow at the moment, I'm at day 27 and my pants have been topped twice and defoled. I feel like you're over thinking a lot of this with water charts and spreadsheets...
You can tell by simply looking at the plants of they need water. If they aren't drooping and there's weight to the pot, they're fine. Let them dry out a bit then give them a litre or so until they get a good root ball.
I'm giving my plants 150w in a 2x4 for veg, at about 18". This is keeping them very tight and with a very good growth rate. I don't go by lux, but I do use a phone app called ppfd meter that is a good guideline. You can change the colour temperature to match your led board, set the hours of light, and it gives you a rough ppfd measurement and DLI. I aim for 30-35 DLI or about 500 ppfd in veg.
Looking at a quick online calculator, you should be aiming for about 30000 lux, not 7500. 7500 is like 120 ppfd.
All the best!
@evilsurfer, Dude you are awesome as f* thank you so much for finding this info for me, I've been looking for info like this. this will help so much Thanks!
@GrowSweetWeed, No worries man. I see all the time people just throwing out "good luck" or "well done" but really we are all here to help each other and learn something, not just stroke each other's egos.
I just found your light on here: https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/grow-light-guide/mars-hydro-fc-6500-par-test-and-review/ and if you scroll down they test the ppfd at different dimming levels. If you aim for 50% at 16.5" you will get about 450ppfd which is good for veg. You can go higher (600ppfd), or even raise the light to maybe 20" and give it a bit more power if you want more even spread.
Use their readings to convert to your own lux readings and then you'll know exactly how high to turn the light up. I would test at 16.5" at 50% and whatever lux reading you get, you'll know that is equal to 450ppfd. Then do the same at 100% and at 16.5" (1000ppfd) that reading is max for mid-late flower (and perhaps even a touch too much) 🤟
@evilsurfer, Thanks for the insight. I completely agree that I am overthinking this like everything I do, I am only logging the water intake it's not a schedule that I'm following and spreadsheet is because I've got nothing better to do. I do need to point out that these are 2 year old seeds that were not stored properly. I think it's very slow too but I google quite a few website and they all said around 7500 LUX which I realized it's wrong like you said. I changed my dimmer to 25 % which gave me 16500 for 3 days and noticed I still had some light stretching so I boosted it to 75% today.
The water is not what worries me, I always wait for the soil to be dry and like you said it's pretty easy to see when she needs some. But the light on the other hand is what really is bothering me. My old light I had to set it to 32" from start to finish and that was that but this one is much different... I'm very happy that you confirmed this for me by saying it needed at least 30000LUX. I am currently at day 32 from seed in the water. It is very healthy tho.
