Be aware that I use this diary to note basically everything so that I can see everything I have done. I always forget from one grow to another and like to try new things in order to have better knowledge. I also use a spreadsheet that has a daily log. Makes it more fun for me. I love this community of growers so much and you are welcome to drop any comments, tips or any advice you think would help me or other readers. Cheers! -February 11th 2022 After two weeks of trying out my new Mars Hydro I had to get used to it since the light intensity is not the same. Reading from Mars Hydro it said I had to hang it at 12" Dimming at 25%, I didn't listen because that gave me a LUX reading of 16,000 LUX. so instead I hung it at 36" and set the dimmer to get 7800 LUX. DO NOT DO THIS. First week was doing alright but after that they pretty much stopped growing. At first I thought my seeds might of been bad since they were old and had difficulty starting a few but after a few days I clearly saw signs of light stretching. The plants were growing at a steep angle trying to find light. So today I lowered my light to 14" and set the dimmer to 25% (Just a little higher because she is growing 1/4" to 1/2" per day). That being said, this specific grow (Gorilla Glue #4 - 322) was not really affected by this because she is about 2 to 3 weeks older then the other grow in the tent. I will be creating diaries for the other grow once I reach Veg stage. Looking at my spreadsheet, my watering schedule is every 4 days 500ml in a 7 Gallon pot. It takes 2 days for the soil to visually get dry, and another 2 days for the first 2" of soil to get dry. -February 5th 2022 Plant is still in seedling stage but it is a matter of days before we actually reach vegetation stage. I have done a few test with a few of my current grow and have come to the conclusion that using a 7 gallon pot, although I save the transplanting stress, the watering needs to be carefully watched. When I started growing a few years ago I used to overwater my plants, I used some perlite to help keep oxygen in the soil and used 5 gallons pots (Used to grow Auto's). This time all my plants are in 7 gallon pots, Auto's and Photoperiods. I quickly noticed using a spreadsheet that after 5 days they stopped growing and needed water. Here is my exact watering schedule (Feel free to comment). Day 1 - 250ml Day 6 - 250ml Day 11 - 250ml Day 16 - 250ml Day 20 - 500ml Between Day 16 and Day 20 I saw a reduced growth which I think means 2 things, 1 it is running out of water and 2 It is currently developing the 7 leaves. This is now 3 weeks into seedling which only makes sense to be transitioning to vegetation stage, which it is showing signs of. I will start my official first week of vegetation tomorrow and will then switch my diary to week 2 once that week has ended. So officially it will be 3 weeks (21 Days) of Seedling. In my opinion I should of watered 250ml every 3 days instead of 5 but I am not sure, she has had absolutely no signs of over or underwatering apart from slowed growth in the last week. No signs of nutrient deficiency or toxicity at all, beautiful green color all around. Changing the light type might have had a big impact on the growth, the only light meter I have is a LUX / FC Meter that I use to gauge my light intensity which is currently set to 7300 - 7800 @ a height of 32". Mars Hydro FC-6500 has low to no heat at all coming from it which makes it very easy to maintain the same temperature day or night. And I set it to that specific height because at that height I could have an even canopy on all my plants. I also have my old Aglex still at 56" but it is at the furthest point from the plants. Since it's an 8'x4' tent I have my all my equipment on one side and plants under the Mars Hydro in the other half. This meant that 2 of the plants had a reflective wall to their right but the 2 others where in the middle so no reflective wall, which is why I left my Aglex. -January 31st 2022 Today I have actually received my new Mars Hydro FC-6500 and have actually swapped my AGLEX 2000W I advise you not to purchase an AGLEX, you can message me if you want to know why, but I am happy so far with my new FC-6500 I now have a dimmer and Mars Hydro says to place your light at 24" for seedlings and I set the dimmer to 7300-7800 LUX which is lower then 10% on my dimmer. -January 29th 2022 It has now been 13 days since I planted this seed Water when dry. I use a 7 gallon pot that I had watered a day prior and I just loosened up the soil mixing it thoroughly just before planting the seed. I watered every 3 to 4 days adding 250 ml evenly across the hole pot. I also sprayed the leaves once in a while. Water was set to 6.2 - 6.3 Ph 40 ppm ( Standard tap water aerated for at least 24 hours. ) -January 16th 2022 15h30 - Stem was 5/8". Planted in a 7 Gallon fabric pot. I did not want to transplant for this run so straight to 7 Gallon 15L of Gaia Green Living Soil 1-0-0 3L of Gro4 Organic Worm Casting (~20%) 2L of Perlite (~10%) = 21L of Mixed Medium + 230ml of Gaia Green All Purpose 4-4-4 + 230ml of Gaia Green Power Bloom 2-8-4 Seedling Stage Suggests between 5,000 to 7,000 LUX 56" is as far as it goes and it gives me a reading of 8,300 LUX

Good luck mate, I'm sure you'll figure the light out. Your growth rate seems very slow at the moment, I'm at day 27 and my pants have been topped twice and defoled. I feel like you're over thinking a lot of this with water charts and spreadsheets... You can tell by simply looking at the plants of they need water. If they aren't drooping and there's weight to the pot, they're fine. Let them dry out a bit then give them a litre or so until they get a good root ball. I'm giving my plants 150w in a 2x4 for veg, at about 18". This is keeping them very tight and with a very good growth rate. I don't go by lux, but I do use a phone app called ppfd meter that is a good guideline. You can change the colour temperature to match your led board, set the hours of light, and it gives you a rough ppfd measurement and DLI. I aim for 30-35 DLI or about 500 ppfd in veg. Looking at a quick online calculator, you should be aiming for about 30000 lux, not 7500. 7500 is like 120 ppfd. All the best!

@GrowSweetWeed, No worries man. I see all the time people just throwing out "good luck" or "well done" but really we are all here to help each other and learn something, not just stroke each other's egos. I just found your light on here: https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/grow-light-guide/mars-hydro-fc-6500-par-test-and-review/ and if you scroll down they test the ppfd at different dimming levels. If you aim for 50% at 16.5" you will get about 450ppfd which is good for veg. You can go higher (600ppfd), or even raise the light to maybe 20" and give it a bit more power if you want more even spread. Use their readings to convert to your own lux readings and then you'll know exactly how high to turn the light up. I would test at 16.5" at 50% and whatever lux reading you get, you'll know that is equal to 450ppfd. Then do the same at 100% and at 16.5" (1000ppfd) that reading is max for mid-late flower (and perhaps even a touch too much) 🤟

@evilsurfer, Thanks for the insight. I completely agree that I am overthinking this like everything I do, I am only logging the water intake it's not a schedule that I'm following and spreadsheet is because I've got nothing better to do. I do need to point out that these are 2 year old seeds that were not stored properly. I think it's very slow too but I google quite a few website and they all said around 7500 LUX which I realized it's wrong like you said. I changed my dimmer to 25 % which gave me 16500 for 3 days and noticed I still had some light stretching so I boosted it to 75% today. The water is not what worries me, I always wait for the soil to be dry and like you said it's pretty easy to see when she needs some. But the light on the other hand is what really is bothering me. My old light I had to set it to 32" from start to finish and that was that but this one is much different... I'm very happy that you confirmed this for me by saying it needed at least 30000LUX. I am currently at day 32 from seed in the water. It is very healthy tho.
