1/21 start date with seed. Temperature is 70/56 with slightly cooler temperatures forecast for later in the week. I accidentally dropped two seeds while opening the package, but found three seeds on the floor. The third is probably an immature Jack Herer from last batch and was very pale (I've had no luck sprouting those, looking for answers if it's possible for the plant to grow non-viable seed since only one plant with no hermaphrodism grew seeds).

One of my favorite simple joys in life is that feeling when you see your seeds come up. Both Wedding Cake seeds popped 1/30. We should be in the low 70's this week with two colder days and nights Wed/Thurs. Low of 42° predicted for Weds, I will keep an eye on that. If it goes into the 30s I will bring the seedlings in, but they etoilate so quickly, moving them is to be avoided.

The past week had several cold nights and chilly days, seedlings were brought in for nights. Thursday's high was 58 but felt much colder, so the plants were inside much of that day. Growth is looking good, but a little slow and a little pale due to low temperatures and more time inside where it's dark. Applied first fertilizer - Jack's All Purpose 20-20-20 at half recommended rate on Saturday. This week should be mid 70s with a high in the 80's later this week. If the temperature holds and growth rate is up, will pot up next week.

We had beautiful weed growing weather this week, 80s, sunny, gentle breezes. The coming week will get us back into mid 70s. I had planned on moving to bigger pots, but found myself out of potting soil. It's not strictly needed yet, but I want to do it before it is.

This week I found something that looks like aphids on one of my other plants. They are smaller and shinier than regular aphids though so I'm trying to get an id. The picture is from the one infested leaf off a Green Gelato nearby. The Wedding Cake had a couple of bugs down in the crotches which I gently hand removed and hit it with Spinosad in case there were any survivors. Something to keep my eye on. I also moved up from the 4" starter pots to a 5 gal Vivosun mesh grow bag. These are taupe colored which I hope means I won't run into heat problems once it gets cooking in Arizona. Tip to outdoor desert growers: Overheated roots looks like a nitrogen deficiency. I was right on time with the transplant, the tap root was beginning to circle. It's important with cannabis not to wait to transplant as long as you would with other plants.

This week we had some very chilly temperatures. I had some other things going on, and forgot to check the temperatures before going to bed. I woke up at dawn to some icy leaves. But I caught it just in time, no harm done. Cold temperatures meant not a lot of upward growth, but everything is much wider than it was last week. I started LST on one of the Wedding Cakes, the other I will leave au naturel and see what differences I get in yields. This week I did an application of micronized Azomite dissolved in water applied both to foliage and media. The insects I saw previously are gone, no further pesticides applied, but continue checking daily. The forecast for the coming week is warm and beautiful.

Great weather this week helped the girls explode. The untrained one doubled in size in one week. I'm seeing a little preflower on her, and she's confirmed to be a lady. The LST one is also growing fast, but definitely not as fast as her natural sister. No preflower visible yet. So far, I'm thinking LST for an auto is a bust, but I'm trying to withhold making final judgements until harvest. The coming week's weather is going to be cooler. High 60s low 70s for day, low 50s and some high 40s at night. That's on the cold side for Phoenix in March.

Lots of good growth this week and the beginning of flowering. Both plants are female, for sure. Switching to Bloom formula this week. I started LST with one of the two plants back in week 4, and I'm more convinced it isn't worth it outdoors with an auto. The trained plant isn't growing side nodes any faster or better, but overall you can see all leaves are smaller and the central stem is about a half inch shorter. It's not a major difference, but there's no improvement to be seen over going natural. I'll continue anyway just to see if there are differences at harvest. Good weather coming up next week!

Everything is looking great, beginning to see some nice buds stacking up. I'm abandoning attempting to LST an outdoor auto, it might make sense indoors, but all it was doing was slowing development on the one I was bending.

Still rolling along. Not much to report this week. Seeing a few marks where a sucking insect is hitting the girls, but no culprit found. There are some lacewing eggs on leaves, so nature has it figured out.
