Germination

I started the germination at 01:00 on Friday the 28th. It's my first grow so I was quite scared about killing the plants before they had the chance to become plants. LSD-25 was quite quick to pull her head up out of the dirt, but Gorilla Glue was quite stubborn, possibly because of stress I had caused while planting them in their jiffy pellets or possibly just because she's genetically slower, but I was convinced she wasn't going to make it after 7 days, but on Saturday the 5th at about 11:00 she pulled her cotyledons out of the soil and seed shell. The Glass Of Water method's pro is it's simplicity, but I had trouble putting the seed the right way up from the glass, so the seeds both landed upside down, and I guess that's it's con. Maybe I did it wrong, I don't know. I noticed Gorilla Glue's roots popping out of the peat pellet (forgot to snap a picture) so i transplanted her with the sack around the peat, but LSD-25 didn't have her roots poking out so I very gently removed the sack before transplanting. Next time I will experiment with a different method, maybe placing the seeds directly in the peat pellet. LSD-25 seems to be growing a bit taller than I'd like so I increased the intensity of the light to about 40% and now to about 50% at 26 inches from the top of the pot. Using a phone app on my Samsung, the PPFD around the area of where the pots are should be around 200 micro moles. This should be well within their limit. I hope.

I'm noticing the leaves yellowing, especially on LSD-25. My coco and perlite mix is well mixed to allow for a good aeration, so I doubt it's overwatering. The light PAR reading on my phone is showing around 240-270 micro moles per m2 per second, which should be in the limit allowed. I know the phone can have inaccuracies since it is not an actual PAR sensor, but I don't think it is strong enough to cause light burn. The only thing I can think it might be is some kind of nutrient deficiency since I am really trying not to give my plants nutrient burn. I have been keeping EC relatively low, I am currently at 300 to 400 Micro Siemens and I am slowly increasing the salinity by 50-100 increments. I believe I should be coming closer to 1000 micro Siemens. Also, LSD-25's runoff EC is always significantly higher than Gorilla Glue's. To counteract this I fertigate LSD more, till the runoff EC starts to come closer to being within +200 Micro Siemens. Since the EC is high, could this mean she's actually getting nutrient burn? The pH is always measured and is always around 6.0-6.2 Any help would be appreciated, in the meantime I will try to keep increasing EC and keep a closer eye on LSD, while doing my own research on the topic. Thanks

my plant is yellow, I am now on day 14 or 15 of the growth and I am giving it 0.6mS of advanced nutrients grow and occasionally some K2O. Does anyone know why this might be happening or if I should even be worried? Thanks :) (more detail in my diary)

@PepInMyStep its quite obvious to me that the plant is having trouble accessing the nutrients and it may be the PH being a tad low for soil as the culprit . Maybe add a little bit of baking soda to your next watering or feed and this should gently raise the PH to about 6.4 /6.5 which is better for soil grown plants .

So far the plants seem to be doing okay. There was one moment during the week where I panicked because I thought LSD-25 was looking a bit too yellow, and she did seem to have some kind of venal chlorosis, however I think this may have something to do with her genetics. I've compared my plant to other people's and this strain from FastBuds seems to commonly exhibit this trait so I may have worried for nothing. Also I would like to apologize to the people who answered my question last week. I accidentally called my coco coir soil, so there seemed to be a bit of confusion and some wrong answers regarding my personal situation, but hey that's on me. I have a bad habit of calling coco soil. Now in my complete panic I ended up overfertilizing my plants. 😑 This is my very first grow, and although I have done dozens of hours worth of research on the topic, I still got confused and conflated how high the EC is on other people's grows to how high mine should be. I did not realize that the "EC target chart" I got from cocoforcannabis.com was meant for the specific nutrient schedule the professor provided. This was quite a big mistake on my part, therefore on Friday I flushed the medium with pH balanced water and resumed the appropriate fertigation the next time. The plants' first fanleaves have now warped because of this, however I think I may have gotten to them in time, before I caused any serious damage. Starting from Friday I am now giving them 1/8 of the recommended dosage from advanced nutrients, which comes up to 0.5ml of each of the Grow Formulas in my 4 liter watering can. I don't have any other nutrients to give the plants, but I would like to get my hands on some more things, like maybe the voodoo juice, silica and the big bud for when flowering starts. I've also taken the advice from @Mr_Weeds_Autos and I've brought the radiator into the grow room to bring the daytime temps up a bit. To try and lower the cost of heating I tried putting this ECOHEAT greenhouse heater in my tent, but it didn't really seem to do anything, and that may be due to the intensely low wattage of 45. I think this product is meant for defrosting, or maybe my exhaust fan is too powerful for my little 2 by 2. I will try and bring the humidity down a bit too, so tonight I have placed a dehumidifier inside. I'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading :)

So last week I overfed the plants. This week I underfed them. I guess we've got to have a yin to our yang. I noticed the stems of LSD going purple and little purple spots started appearing which makes me think she had a phosphorus deficiency or maybe multiple deficiencies. This led me to start looking through other people's diaries and I saw one from @JohnnyBlaze who was feeding his plant way more than I was, so I upped the nutes to be close to his. I'm still not sure how you're supposed to tell how much you're supposed to give it, but I'm going to start meeting the manufacturer's recommendations by slowly increasing day by day or week by week. Other than that, all seems to be going well. Maybe growth could be a bit faster, but I am putting these plants through lots of stress through my terrible fertigation. Light-wise, I'm giving them around 330 micromoles of photosynthetic photons per meter squared per second according to my phone app, maybe I should increase it a bit more, as I think they should take 600 according to this online chart I found. Tonight I was feeling a little bit peppy and impatient so I started the LST process. I don't know if it's exactly how it's supposed to be done, but I took some garden wire and anchored the bit at the bottom and I very gently, however, clumsily bent the plant over to one side. Now it should right itself by tomorrow and I'm gonna have to start being more hands on with them, which really terrifies me, but I will do my best to not get cocky. I have a deadline for when these plants have to be done, there's a lovely lady who's going to try these out when they're done, so we can't be breaking any main stalks, dammit! I'm gonna need anyone reading this to send a small prayer down God's way for me or maybe some good vibes, thanks 🙏😊

This week I have definitely overfed the plants again. I am having immense trouble finding the nutrient sweet spot, however, I think I may be close. I was giving 1ml per liter of each AN Grow Formula, which is the recommended dosage for a seedling, but there are obvious signs of nutrient burn and nitrogen toxicity. I cut the feed by about half since Friday, which was a late reaction. Some damaged leaves, like the first two serrated leaves on LSD, were removed. Apparently the plants are producing some kind of aroma, but I wouldn't know because I don't have a functional sense of smell. Other than that I have been slacking on the LST a bit, but I will put more effort next week. I had some trouble with the strimmer line that I was using, with it staying bent like a coil no matter how hard I try. I tried training Gorilla Glue using some proper garden wire and it was much easier, so I'll probably be using that from now on. I'm also having trouble not getting the leaves wet when I water.

This week I put a lot of effort into the LST. GG is looking really good I think, but I seem to be consistently giving LSD a harder time. Apart from her nitrogen toxicity and her calcium deficiency, I keep accidentally smacking her while training and I've torn a few chunks off her leaves :( Also I realized that the light intensity was way too low, and that could have been why the plants got overfertilized so easily last time. I remedied this by slowly increasing the intensity till my PAR phone app read about 550µMoles. GG is forming lots of tops, and I cannot for the life of me distinguish which is which anymore, which makes training a bit stressful, especially when I'm stoned. ( I'll start saving the smoking until after I'm done with my chores :p ) I think I've finally gotten the hang of the nutrients. LSD had a consistently high EC every time and, during an LST session, I noticed the leaves were really dark green when I put them in normal room lighting, so on Tuesday (Day 31) I flushed the plants. After that they started developing what I think was a Calcium deficiency so I upped the nutes a bit and they stopped producing brown spots. LSD-25 got hit by the deficiency a lot worse, which is typical for her it seems. She's definitely less hardy than Gorilla Glue. A few damaged leaves were removed this week also.

This week I defoliated the plants very lightly. Gorilla Glue's main stem snapped at some point, I tried to dress her wound with duct tape and she seems to be doing fine so far, although I am scared to continue training her main cola now. Other than that the plants seem to be doing fine, LSD still seems a bit nitrogen toxic so I am giving her like 1/3 less nutrients than Gorilla Glue. She seems to take overfeeding a lot worse, so I have to be careful with her.

I did some light defoliation this week, but it never seems to be enough. Plants seem fine, buds are starting to look like buds. LSD has a few clawed leaves at the bottom, so she still seems to suffer somewhat from nitrogen toxicity, this means I always dilute the solution when I fertigate LSD so that the solution comes to an EC of about 0.6 milliSiemens. Over all though, no light burn, no pests and no diseases, so I'd say we're looking pretty good. I wish there was some way to lower the nitrogen dose, but apart from making the solution a bit more acidic there isn't much I can really do, because the AN nutrient formulas that contain Calcium and Magnesium also contain Nitrogen.

This week went very well, I'm still giving LSD less nutrients and I think it shows. Her leaves are luscious and bright while Gorilla Glue appears darker meaning LSD has had access to less nitrogen which is good since her lower leaves started taking the shape of tubes lol. GG has a few burnt tips, but I've given up on worrying about minute details. I realize that most of my worries so have caused me to drastically over correct and put more stress on the plants, so I've decided to relax a little. I did defoliate the plants a bit, I had thought I was being too aggressive, but I barely made a dent. The problem is I don't know how much defoliation a plant can take. I've had lots of people tell me "just take off the leaves that are in the way", but I need numbers, dammit! Ten leaves a day? Five? I need hard numbers, hippy dippy expressions just won't do. I want to add that I think LSD-25 is a gorgeous plant, I absolutely love the purple and bright green colours, it just looks fantastic.

LSD started to yellow and get burnt so I increased her nutrition and I've cut back on the nutes for GG, so they are now taking the same amount. The main growth seems to be focused on the buds now, as it's remained very close to the same height as last week. I defoliated a little bit every few days, although I still get scared to overdo it, so I limit how many leaves I cut. I feel as though I am very close to the end of this journey, and I know it sounds cheesy, but I'm actually going to feel bad come harvest day. I've watched these babies grow from tiny seeds that I had to squint to even see, to what they are now. We've had our ups, we've had our downs, but we're here now and I'm a proud plant dad :) May my efforts be rewarded
