This grow is mainly an experiment in that I have already had two other seeds fail in this pot, so I want to see if there is anything wrong with this soil or if I got unlucky with bad seeds.
I mixed this soil about five months ago, and this is the first time I have used it. However, I currently use the same soil in three other pots, and those girls are thriving, so I doubt there's something wrong, but hey, you never know.
I will plant in a transparent cup first, instead of directly in the pot like I usually do, to better gauge what is going on, and I'm using the soil from the pot in the cup. However, I will put a second cup in the pot so that I can keep the first cup in the pot, but still be able to easily lift it up to view root development to determine when it is time for transplanting.
D1 - Yesterday, I put the seed into a glass of water and left it for 24 hours in a dark place.
Today it was time for planting, and I first rolled the soaked seed into Mycorrhizal inoculant and added some to the hole as I planted the seed.
After planting, I placed a humidity dome on the pot to create a better microclimate for the seedling.
D4 - Ha! The girl not only sprouted but did so in a pretty short time! We're not out of the woods yet as it is still very early, but maybe the soil wasn't the problem.
I increased the light to give some more light to the other girl in the tent, and I'm now reading around 500-600 PPFD at the canopy level.
Way too high for the Chocodope girl, but I'm counting on her humidity dome will block out some light while she is getting stronger. However, the daytime temp jumped up to around 30 degrees C. #tinytentproblems
D6 - Just a quick update to add pics. Not much to report except that she is growing along just fine. I still don't want to call it yet, but it looks more and more like I had bad luck and got some bad seeds. Oh well, it happens. Even with the best breeders. Still a bit annoying to have two out of three seeds go bad.
D8 - I trimmed the cover crop today as it was a bit all over the place. Yesterday, I started brewing some compost tea, and today I watered the surrounding pot with about one liter of tea. I also put a few drops of the tea in the cup but took care not to soak her completely.
D11 - The start of the second week of veg. The girl isn't very tall yet but she is looking healthy and vibrant, and I think it is fair to say at this point that this soil is just fine. I just got unlucky with bad seeds. Oh, well. Upwards and onwards!
D14 - The girl is growing along nicely. Still low but is starting to spread out. I also trimmed the cover crop.
D17 - The last day in week two of veg. She is slowly outgrowing her cup, and I'm going to transplant her next week.
D18 - Today was the first day in week three of veg, and it was time for transplanting the girl into her final pot. All I did was get her out of her cup, sprinkle some mycorhizal inoculant on her roots, and then plant her back into the pot. Finally, I gave her around 1.2-liters of water @ pH 6.4 to reduce transplant shock.
D20 - Not much to report, but she is looking happy after the transplant. I gave her about 0.6-liters of water @ pH 6.5 just because I had some over from watering the Colorado Cookies girl. Overwatering a single time should be fine.
D22 - She is loving her new home, looking vibrant and healthy. I cut down the cover crop as it was getting a bit unruly.
D23 - I opened the tent today and realized I forgot to fill up the humidifier last night. The RH in the tent was only 29%. Oops!
I gave the girl about one liter of compost tea that I started brewing yesterday.
24 - The end of the third week of veg and she is loving life after her transplant. She is 9 cm tall and 13 cm across and has grown sturdy enough to start LST next week.
D25 - Today was the first day in week four of veg. I had planned on starting her training today, but I found thrips in my other tent, so I was busy with that. However, I inspected the girl but couldn't see any thrips and then sprayed her with some chili tincture as a preventative measure.
D27 - I still haven't seen any thrips on her, but I resprayed her yesterday anyway, just in case.
Today, I started her LST and did some very light defoliation by removing the lowest two nodes. I also noticed that she is now in flower.
Unfortunately, she is still too small to hang the mites sachet on, so for now, I hung it on the handle of the pot instead.
D31 - She is in flower now at the end of the fourth and last week of veg. She looks healthy and vibrant, but she is also relatively small, so it will be interesting to see how she develops.
It's the first time I have ever transplanted, so maybe I accidentally stunted her. But then, I've never grown this strain before, so I don't know what to expect either.
D32 - The first day in the first week of flower.
D34 - I gave her 1.2-liters of compost tea @ pH 6.5. I'm not sure yet, but I suspect that the thrips in my other tent have made it over here. No definite proof, though, so I might just be imagining things.
Yesterday, I turned on the UV on my light. It's a bit early for this girl, but the other girl in the tent is three weeks further along and can use some UV.
D35 - It looks like the thrips have made it into the tent :(
The good news is that there's currently only damage on one leaf, so I removed it. Let's hope the predatory mites do their thing.
D38 - The last day in the first week of flower. Not much to report. She must be stunted, considering how small she is. I have no idea why, as she looked happy and healthy throughout the grow.
Maybe I screwed up when I transplanted her, or maybe there's something with the soil after all.
D39 - The first day in the second week of flower.
D41 - Not much to report except that she definitely has a clear pine smell and she is starting to get sticky.
D42 - Moving day! I cut the Colorado Cookies girl in the tent today, and since I want to use that tent for drying, I decided to relocate the Chocodope girl to my old, tiny drying tent. I also felt that running the big light is wasted on her considering how stunted she is, so getting her under another light anyway made sense.
So I put her in a 40x40x120 cm tent under a ViparSpectra P600 light, where she will stay until the Colorado Cookies girl is finished drying. At that point, she will move back but still be under the ViparSpectra.
Right now, her entire setup is very basic, with no extraction fan or circulation fan: just a tent, light, and a pot. There is no need to waste a ton of energy on her since the yield will be minimal.
D46 - The first day in the third week of flower. Not much to report. I'm pretty much just letting her go at this point, considering how stunted she is. I'm interested in what the result will be but I'm not really willing to spend much time or energy on her.
D48 - I'm starting to see more discolored leaves on her, and I suspect that she has thrips considering that I had (have?) them in my other tent. I can't spray her with anything as she is in flower, and I already have a bag with predatory mites on her, so I've done what I can really can. In any case, she is more of a project at this point.
The good news is that I think I have discovered why she is stunted.
I read online about transplanting when they mentioned that it was important not to transplant when the plant is too dry, as it can cause the root structure to fall apart and thus shock your plant.
Well, that is precisely what happened. During the transplant, my girl was dry and lost some earth, which disturbed the roots.
100% user error, as I suspected since this was my first time transplanting. Usually, I plant directly in the final container.
I need more training (obviously), so I have started a new grow where I plan to transplant the girls a couple of times.
D52 - The end of yet another week. She is getting frosty but is of course still stunted and tiny lol.
D54 - Another week, still a stunted runt lol. Oh well, at least I learned how NOT to transplant :D
D56 - The runt is getting frostier by the day.
D60 - The end of the fourth week of flower. I'm not putting in any effort into this grow and am instead just letting her do her thing. I've started to spot a few amber trichomes here but it will still take a while for this tiny lady to finish.
D61 - The beginning of the fifth week of flower. Most trichomes are cloudy, but there are still some clear, and I'm seeing a few amber. I guess it will take another week, maybe two, until she is done.
D66 - Seeing less clear trichomes. She should be ready to harvest within the next week, I think.
D67 - The end of another week, and we're getting close to chop day.
D68 - The first day in the final week as I'm planning on chopping her in a couple of days, on day 70.
D70 - CHOP DAY! I cut her down, removed a few fan leaves, and hung her to dry. I set the Inkbird controller to 55.5% RH (+/- 2%). Now we wait.
This was a unique grow where the entire plant was one large and compact bud. I suspect, though, that has to do with how stunted the plant got due to transplant shock. Unfortunately, due to how tight it was, it also got some budrot even though the temperatures and humidity were ok. I will definitely add more ventilation next time I grow this strain.
The dried buds are compact and rock-hard with a sweet earthy smell, but I'm sure it will develop further as the cure has just started.
I would describe it as an uplifting high based on a quick smoke test before the cure. Too early to comment on the taste though.
This cursed grow is finally at an end! I let her dry for 10 days at an average temp of 17.8 degrees centigrade with an average relative humidity of 56.7%
The trim was a piece of cake, considering how tiny she was.
However, as a final fuck you, due to how compact she was, she got budrot during the dry, and I had to throw away most of the buds. Ugh!
I still have another couple of seeds, and I hope that I will have better luck with those whenever I choose to grow this strain again.
Until then, I'm just happy to have this grow behind me.

@BigDaddyK, Hmmmm... you could very well be correct as this is the first time I grow in such small pots, and I'm not used to how fast they dry up. I'll water her a bit more frequently and see if it helps. Cheers for the tip.
@SeedsNStems, Sure thing! I used 60 grams of chili flakes and soaked them in 500 ml 60% ethanol for about two hours, stirring now and then, before finally straining it through a coffee filter. This base tincture needs to be diluted to 1:10 when using it. I put around 50 ml of the tincture in a small spray bottle and then added 450 ml of distilled water. I think mint is good lavender maybe I am Lucy my shop is surrounded in Box Elder bugs they keep most everyting at bay LOL except the dam spider mites on my Fruit Slap only one they like probably need to get rid it the honeysuckle out side my veg room
@amazongrow, Well, she is a project of sorts in that way that it is the first time I tried transplanting an auto, it is the first time I use this particular soil blend that I made, and the first time I grow in such small containers. Clearly, I must have stunted her in some way. Someone suggested that underwatering might have been the issue, which might be the case since I'm not used to these small pots. We live and learn ;)
