Germinated one seed and it popped after 36 hours. Planted directly into the final container, a 5 gal pot with holes built in for LST and side handles. Used mostly Coast of Maine Stonington blend with 16oz of Fox farm happy frog for the seed to start rooting into. Places into the 2x4 photo tent for now until my other auto grow finishes in the other tent. Likely it will move over around week three when I would expect to see the first pistols. Excited for my first mephisto grow!
Growth seems slow, but maybe I just expected it to go much faster. Doesn't seem stunted, so that's good. Tried to increase humidity and temperature to help the seedling, despite the other plants in flower in the tent, and it was not helpful. My veg plants wilted and are now recovering. Keeping the tent at 70 degrees F and about 70% RH for now. Will update later in the week as the second set of leaves develops
Day 14 Temps and humidity are more stable this past week and growth is good. Trying to keep it moist but not over watering. She seems to be healthy and picking up speed. Still slower than my last autoflower seedlings, does not appear stunted, just behind at the start. Excited to start training her at the end of next week.
First training was done yesterday. Bent her over at almost 90°and twisted the stem above the first node so that both nodes of branches are coming out horizontal. First set will be pulled opposite of the plant top, and the next set out towards the sides. Expecting growth to speed up this week before preflower.
Growth has been great the last week and been adjusting the LST every day as the branches grow longer not quite dense flowering sites yet, but lots of pistols. The main cola is looking like it will be dense. Hopefully the stretch will continue for a few more weeks. Excited for this girl to grow big and strong!
Beginning of week 6 is here and started her into flower with a top dress of worm castings, kelp meal and fish bone meal. This should help the demands for nutrients that the soil should be running low on soon. Might do a light feeding on week 8 or 9 if there seems a need but I had good luck with my last two plants feeding the same amount at week 6 and fading at week 10 right on time for harvest. Each plant is different, and this on has only experienced a small hiccup. a high ph water for 2 days that started a lockout but was corrected quickly. Did not stretch as much as I was hoping for and the training had barely made it to the edge of the pot. Hopefully the nugs will continue to stretch upward as they put on mass.
Day 45 update: Plant experienced a bit of a draught because I had my gf taking care of it with a watering schedule. Turns out I may have had it a bit less, and didn't anticipate it needing more water last week than it did the week before. This makes sense tho, because the plant is still stretching and putting energy into those top sites. I should have thought about this, but we grow and we learn! Week 5-7 is usually where you will see the growth really take shape, and start packing on buds. It's really important to get the plant it's nutrients and water ready for this phase. It didn't do too much damage but will limit development.Hopefully it will be corrected and it will be ok come harvest.
Haven't made an update in a while, but not much has changed except the buds filling in and ripening. Had another dry spell that took out a lot of fan leaves early on, but was able to nurse it to harvest without the buds being damaged. The color never really came back and this might be just because it was naturally flushing in the end. Buds look frosty and like soft pillowy clouds. Just started 48 hours of darkness with my photoperiod grow and will harvest this girl and the three other plants in the tent in a couple of days. Happy growing!
Trimming was super easy. This one filled up half of a 64 oz jar so not a bad haul for an auto that could have done better. I tried some smoke and it was smooth and flavorful with the kind of high that makes you dizzy.
