I have two grow lights. One is a FEIT 27 Watt from Home Depot – which is in the house. The other is a much more powerful Best VA DC light – which is in my unheated shed. Temps have been a bit nippy here in Phoenix metro, so from the beginning I've been putting the girls outside during the day and inside at night to give them 18 hours of light. This week, I decided they were strong enough to spend the night in the shed. So far they seem to be handling the cooler nighttime temperatures well. In Phoenix we have a charming small business called the Arizona Worm Farm which sells worms, worm castings, mulch, etc. I started her off in the worm farm seedling starter, but she needed a bigger home. Day 20 was re-potting day. I will continue the indoor/outdoor veg schedule till May, so I needed a good potting mix. The worm farm has a lovely raised bed mix (compost, worm castings, coco coir, vermiculite & basalt dust) that will eventually be her home outdoors. For her tender juvenile years, I wanted to spoil her, so I decided to start her off in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. However, to conserve $$, I used Fox Farm in the center of the pot and Worm Farm mix at the bottom and sides. The weird milk jug pictures show how I did this. I cut a hole in the top and bottom of the milk jug and scooped the worm farm soil outside of it and the Fox Farm inside. Also put 100% Fox Farm in the top 3-4 inches. Not 100% sure the size of the plastic pots – 3-4 gallons is my guess. I was able to stretch a 1.5 cubic foot bag of Fox Farm to fill 6 pots.

Grow Questions

Some of the leaves are curling. Sits next to another indica that doesn’t seem to be affected. Temps here in Arizona have been 100-110 for weeks. I presume this is heat stress but would 💗 2nd opinion. She’s in the most protected area of the garden, so probably can’t fix this.

Oh yes heat stress. My sativa leaners are have the same problem. Have to try and shade her at the hottest part of the day.

@cheetah844, The You Tube guy is definitely a great grower. I’m just a novice trying to learn from my mistakes.

@AZMamaBear, That makes you guys great growers! Respect. I'd imagine it's much harder & need more planning on the grow along with all of the normal struggles that cannabis can bring. Knowing this has just made me more thankful for a less harsh growing environment when I grow outdoors. I hope all your guys' hard work pays off with lush happy girls!

@cheetah844, There’s a Phoenix You Tube grower - Growing The Garden - who’s been vegging his Summer 22 plants since last summer. In his last update a month ago, the girls were 5 feet tall. He’s keeping them inside till May. They’re gonna be gigantic. While I would love a big plant, I’m just hoping to keep them alive from May - July and the bigger they are, the better chance they have at surviving our Arizona summer.

@cheetah844,I was concerned that my girls were outgrowing their pots, so I planted them today in my raised beds. Moved grow lights outside and to give them supplemental lighting from sunset to my bedtime.
