Used the wet paper towel method to germinate. After 24 hours soak, placed in paper towel for 12, then soil. Soil used was promix, first planted in small pot for first week (was setting up sent), then planted in 5 gal pot during second week. Topped during third week Photos were taken at the end of the week starting in the week.
Growth was really vigorous, struggled a bit keeping my temps down and humidity up but overall it was ok/no issues- bit hot inside during winter and dry as well. Little bit of nutrient tea added once per week.
Noticed a few small brown spots forming from what I conclude is calcium deficiency (had no idea the promix was so light) so I added the Actisol which is a cal rich hen manure (dissolvable pellets with lots of organic matter- specs in Nutrients section). Also started LST on the two tallest branches.
Just fimmed the tallest branch to see how it plays out- was also getting a bit too tall compared to the rest. Still one or two brown spots (going away though)
Tied down (LST) the four main stems to open up the plant for better light penetration. Was also just a little concerned about the height. She stretched quite a bit in the last 10 or so days. Hairs starting to form nicely.
Not much to report this week. Buds starting to get a bit heavier, needed to tie all five branches of the branches for some support. Still only giving the nutrient tea once per week.
So this week was a busy one, tying the branches to keep them from falling over/drooping, really should have had an extra trellis handy (next time I suppose). Also, notices a couple of leaves starting to turn yellow and one or two leaves developing very fine brown spots down the middle- did some reading and arrived at micronutrient deficiency, most likely zinc possibly also magnesium, so game them some micros, some extra calcium and bloom as well (the bloom was scheduled).
Hope that helps, they are starting to fatten but need some more weight- will see how it goes over the next week or two.
Also never quite determined why the very tips of the leaves turned brown (just on the tip, leaves looked healthy otherwise through most stages of the grow- besides those tips??)- could be the higher temps??
So first off, there not really a smell in the grow tent, but this could just be the filter working well, when I touch the plant it leaves a smell of pine/citrus more than the sweeter smells I was expecting- maybe that will develop at some point, getting closer to harvest though, some more leaves starting to yellow, so I'm guessing sometime soon? maybe another week-2?
Topped up with more dry ammendments, that will be the last (besides nutrtient tea, which is happening around 2 out off every 3 waterings)
Didn't add anything this week, just doing the nutrient tea at the moment. She's getting there, about 30% (?) of the hairs have turned red. Not really too much crystals yet, although the pine smell is started to strengthen. Another week or so? I don't mind the extra weight 😅
Not really a strong smell yet. Not really sure how much longer, will wait another week and see? Can't support the main colas anymore, which isn't a bad problem to have per say.
I'm so glad that your first indoor grow is coming along great😃 I just finished my first indoor grow in over 10 years and I couldn't be happier 😛 Happy Growing friend 👍
@Tropicannibis_Todd, thanks so much I've tasted from the dispensary (but buying can be hit or miss- not like the TLC of a home grow), but you should give it a try, they are starting to smell great! She is a bit touchy with the nutes though, luckily I went with soil so a bit more forgiving..
@Tropicannibis_Todd, Fastastic to hear... getting near the point that the bud is starting to look appetizing (still have 3 weeks more to post, but still a few weeks out).
@love_2_grow, thanks so much I'm actually about 3 weeks out from harvest atm- just been slow to get these up. Will have the posting up to date within the next week😁
