Germination has gone very well for all 5 seeds. I soaked all 5 seeds in spring water overnight and then placed in a damp paper towel for about 2 days before placing into pots. Seeds popped out from dirt in about 24 hrs from placement, Im very pleased!
Im about a day or two early for the new week but the grow is going well! Humidity is sitting at around 65/66% Trying to watch out for too much stretch right now so I'm adjusting the light accordingly at about 32in above. Gave 1/2 dosage of Voodoo juice by advanced nutrients to hopefully give the roots a nice boost. Just worried about overdoing anything at this early stage of growth. The soil i'm using should cover the first month of growth before adding nutes. With only one grow down Im still very new at this! feeling excited😃🙏
2nd week from germination. Feeling good with this grow so far. I have been watering on the stem area only every other day with PH'd spring water. Twice watered with Voodoo juice from advanced nutrients. Waiting till week 3 or 4 to start LST
Still feeling good about this grow!
I topped the largest growing girl today and will be topping the rest probably later this week.
Two of the plants I have started LST training but I am not too sure how sensitive this strain is to train the other 3.
I may have another week or 2 before needing to add more nutes. (worm castings and down to earth 4-4-4)
😌
Start of week 4! Girls are looking beautiful this week. Decided not to add soil nutrients during week 3. No idea how tall these girls will get before flowering starts. So excited to see their progress 😁😎😜🙏
Another update!
Week 4
Started to train the plants using the Scrog method and LST. This is my first time using a net to increase yield. I do notice, however, that I need a larger light for next grow. I have noticed not all of the potential bud sites are getting as much light as I would like. (live and learn)
Topped dressed with worm castings.
Keeping humidity a little bit lower this week around 65-70%
Week 5
Starting this week I will now have nicer watering trays to put under the 5 gal fabric pots. This will help bottom feel the plants as the roots grow deeper.
Looking into making a worm tea using worm castings, molasses, and a fish tank aerator for 24/72 hrs then diluting 1:3
I am still a "newbie" but every grow is definitely teaching me a lot.
Updates
During Week 5
Plants switched from pre-flower to flower stage. Loads of stretching starting.
Added dry amendments to the soil. Down to earth 4-4-4 at 3 tbsp for each 5 gal pot. I decided to go half dose to see how sensitive the autoflowers would be. So far they are loving it!
Added another dose of worm castings. 1 tbsp of worm castings per pot on the 7th.
Watering with tap water that is left out overnight/24 hrs with PH down added to bring PH to between 6.5-6.8. Watering every 3 days
Plan for Week 6
Ordered Bloom dry amendments
Waiting 1 more week into flowering to defoliate bottom leaves.
Continuously bending LST fan leaves and bud sites .
Going to make Worm casting tea
Over all I am happy with how this grow is going. Noticed this strain is very sensitive to watering.
Here we are at week 7!
During Week 6
Noticed earlier on in the week that 1 of the 5 White widows has a slight magnesium deficiency. Amended that with tsp of Epsom salt per 1 gal. PH'd water at 6.7. Noticed new growth looks okay! I think I should have added nutrients a week prior.
Light defoliation on the bottom leaves under the canopy
Added other 1/2 dose of down to earth 4-4-4 (I decided to half dose on the dry amendments to see how the plants respond)
Added 1/2 dose of GEO Bloom 3-12.5-9
Watered dry fertilizer with compost tea brewed for 24hrs
Started PH testing the soil. Reads around 6
Week 7 plans
Going to try using white distilled vinegar as an organic PH down option. I have been using phosphoric acid and read that it is an inorganic. Hoping to not kill any good microbes with future watering. Tap water in my town reads at 7.6-7.8
Keeping an eye out for light stress and adjusted the light accordingly
Light LST on bud sites
Going to PH test run off to make sure soil is at okay PH level.
New clip on fan is on its way to help lower RH in upcoming weeks. Aiming for consistent 40-45%
So happy with how well this grow is going so far. Hoping it continues this way! (try not to jinx myself, yikes!)
Let me know what you all think :)
Another update
During Week 7
Started on light defoliation every few days to lower leaves/popcorn bud sites.
Installed another clip on fan for better air circulation. Now have 2 fans with outtake fan outside of tent
PH pen broke so I had to use PH kit that I have for my fish tank. Not a great option but worked
Plants started slowing down on stretching (later in week)
RH has been staying around 45-50%
Plan for Week 8
Plan on making 2nd batch of compost tea. Using 1tbsp molasses this time instead of honey
More light defoliation
Waiting to do 1 more topping with dry amendment in another week.
Really happy with how these girls are growing. Very hardy plants! They are very friendly so far to user error. 🙏
(edit: accidentally put week as Veg and not sure how to change it)
Update time. (1 day early)
During week 8
Watered once with compost tea (Worm castings and unsulfured molasses)
Light defoliation every few days on bottom leaves/popcorn buds
Noticed some of the girls fan leaves are darker than others. These autos are very sensitive to nutes/light/watering.
**Promoted to Apprentice Grower. Thanks!! :D
Plan for week 9
Planning on adding phosphate/potassium with dry amendments one more time during this week. Nitrogen seems to be showing a bit high in a few of the girls and not in the others. Not sure if its early N toxicity or just the genes of the plants. Feeding each one the same.
Watering with regular PH water 6.6-6.8 (checking run off)
More minor defoliation as I see fit.
Overall really happy still with this grow! I am definitely a "Newbie" when it comes to growing Autos so this is a great learning experience. I have noticed these girls really don't need too heavy of nutrients and are very sensitive plants. Thanks for checking in!
Time for another update!
During Week 9
Light defoliation on bottom canopy
Added 1 heaping tbsp of GEO Bloom dry amendment 3-12.5-9 with regular PH'd water
Watering every 3 days with 1/2 liter of water or more. Trying to keep soil moist without drying out. Seems to be improving the plants
Plan week 10
Installing ViparSpectra XS2000 light to help with better light coverage in the 4x4 tent
Going to keep RH around 45% and keeping up with airflow
Planning to put in dehumidifier in upcoming week if necessary
Weaning down on light defoliation at this point.
Happy with how these girls are doing! Hoping the new light set up with the ViparSpectra XS2000 will make a difference in yield this far into flower. Trying to combat a little bit of light burn happening at the moment as well.
Thanks for checking in! See you next week
Happy Easter Everyone! Time for an update
During week 10
NEW LIGHT installed!! ViparSpectra XS2000. So excited! I think the plants are a little shocked from the change in light but hopefully they recover just fine.
This week 3 of the plants definitely started showing some issues I have never had before. I started noticing rust spots on the upper top leaves of the plants which I believe was the consequence of the following... A.Nutrient lockout B. Soil PH too low from over fertilization C. Soil PH being too low due to the peat moss in the growing medium. I have purchased dolomite lime as an organic alternative to properly balance soil PH for my next grow. I did do a light flush with PHd water at 6.5.
Plan for week 11
Going to be adding some Calcium to the soil during next watering to see if that helps new growth on the plants (Tuesday)
At this point I will be just keeping an eye on more rust spots forming on the leaves. I have backed off on adding more P & PK at this time because I think I over fertilized last time.
I am learning a lot still with every week of this grow. I know now how to dial in the nutrients and better amending soil first. Since my soil has peat moss I think that had a lot to do with the acidity as it breaks down. Really hoping these girls continue to finish out okay! Thinking that they will take the full 14/15 weeks at this point.
Hey everyone! Time for another update!
I hope you all had a great 4.20 this week!
During week 11
Noticed some light stress from the new light addition, XS2000 by ViparSpectra, but that was to be expected. Calcium deficiency is definitely going on but at this point in flower I am not going to add anything and see how they do.
Plan for week 12
Just going to let the plants continue to bulk up. 2 of the plants are looking like they will be ready a week or two before the other 3. Topping autoflowers definitely lengthens the overall grow time.
I wish that the calcium deficiency didnt turn up on this grow but I think I know where I went wrong. Too many NUTES! oh well! Im still happy overall with how this grow is doing and I cant wait to try out some things Ive learn for next grow. I will be incorporating dolomite lime into my soil mixture prior to planting next round.
I think most of these girls will take up to 14/15 weeks to finish out! So, what I will do is post normal diary entries but include what plants Im chopping and add up full final weights at the end. This should be interesting!
We are nearing the end of this journey with the 5 White Widow Autoflowers from ILGM genetics
During week 12
Continued watering with regular PH'd water every 2 to 3 days. Checking tricomes with a jewelers loop every few days. The plants are smelling super potent now coming into week 8 of flower! Buds are super resinous and extremely sticky.
Week 13
Last week before chop! The plan is to see how the plants look nearing the end of week 13. My current grow tent is the same tent I use to dry so this may get tricky! ILGM has grow time listed as between 10-14 weeks so Im right in that final phase.
Stay tuned for up close shots of the final stage of these plants. I will include final photos, wet weight, and final dry yield in upcoming posts.
👽
FINAL WEEK! 14!!!! Lets go!
I will start off by saying I am totally blown away with these plants! Not only did they grow way taller than expected, they performed very well considering my goof ups. The photos posted are the final stage of these plants, week 14.
ILGM has really awesome genetics with these White Widow Autos. Each plant may have grown very differently but I predict they will all have high yields! They flourished using 100% dry organics but it would be interesting to see how they do using bottled nutrients or even synthetic.
This will be my last flowering post before harvest details. All 5 plants were chopped on 5/6. I lightly wet trimmed and hung them all to dry in 50-55% RH back into the original tent. For final wet and dry weights I will post that all in my final harvest. Drying time may take 7 or more days. The final yield may surprise you!
Stay tuned!
Happy growing 😊
I am happy with the outcome of this grow.
This was my first time growing autoflowers and ILGM genetics.
Total wet weight was 1301 grams
Total dry weight 8.5 oz
These plants are very hardy and grow tall very quickly with the tallest plant reaching 4 ft tall.
Each plant grew very different bud structures which resulted in some very dense and very fluffy buds.
If you are looking for a very uniform growing plant with dense buds you may need to look for another strain.
The smell from these buds are strong and amazing. I would describe the smell as fruity glue with rubber.
I am overall very pleased with how this grow went and I cant wait to grow some more!
