Germinated 4 Gelato Autos on SAT 2/6/22. Threw out 2 since I made an error when calculating how many plants I wanted. Oops.
Germinated 2 Ethos Banana Daddy Autos on 2/8/22, they sprouted the next morning and went in the dirt.
Before adding germinated seeds to dirt, poured in a teaspoon of Dynomyco and placed seed on top of granules.
I think I planted the Gelato too far, did probably an inch of dirt and then watered... Realizing now I shouldn't have watered. Hoping all 4 pots will pop any day now. Fingers crossed I didn't botch everying.
Worried they aren't growing enough, upped the intensity of light on Saturday 2/12 as I originally only had about 4-5000lux. Upped that to 25,000lux on my HLG board.
I technically need to water these 0.55L per day but that's too much water I think. It's living soil though so I'm waiting every other day at least to water.
Very eager for 3-5days from now to confirm the plants are all doing OK (I'm worried I'm seeing some stretching and thin stems).
2/20/22 I think I have everything dialed in for the most part. Trying to make sure this living soil is staying wet without water the plants too much. Think I need to up it a little, soil in certain areas is drying out much faster than others due to the light mostly. Lowered my light to 18"
I felt deep down, maybe 5-6inches, the soil was dusty dusty dry. I am now actually watering half a gallon to each container around the outside with my garden sprayer. I make sure to get the top inch wet with a mist and then glob some water in there w/o sprayer nozzle 💦💦💦
2/21/22 noticed curling on bottom leaves. Did not change anything
2/22/22 noticing more curling, the beginnings of curling maybe on the second set of leaves 😕? I dropped the fan from speed 5 to speed 2 to hopefully raise the humidity. It's working and is now at a comfortable 57%. Not ideal but much better than 42% for veg 😅
2/23/22 noticing curling on all 4 plants on both the first true leaf sets and second (1 leaf and 3 leaves ea). I moved the light to 24", which is 33% further away and according to my $40 lumen meter, about a 28% reduction in visible light FWIW. Finally put up a little oscillating fan setup on a rudimentary iPad music-stand mount. It's loud as hell, need to look into a quieter fan lol 😆
Moving the light further away from my plants helped with the leaf curling, the plants do seems a little stunted in terms of height. I moved the light even further away on advice of my local hydro shop, also starting adding in liquid bone meal (phosphates) with each watering.
Finally starting using my pH pen, glad to know the water here is nearly a perfect PH 6.4.
Also decided to do some tie-down LST. Did that on 3/1/22
Did some more tie downs every few days, tightened formerly tied down stems even more which has worked well.
Odor starting to appear when I open the tent, I can see what I think are the very beginnings of pistils, how exciting!
Stopped the LST, wow are they growing tall, 11 inches at the tallest at one point. Bumped the light back up to about 40% since they are in full flower now.
Saw my first bud site! How exciting
Not much to report this week, more defoliating as needed, I'm starting to notice a deficiency in one of my plants, Gelato Auto #1. Went to Hydro store, he thinks it's potentially a calcium issue, also, maybe this is being overwatered and my super soil is just giving it too many nutes.
Going to dial back the watering on this guy and add some Gypsum (water soluble calcium or whatever)
Adding gypsum to Gelato 1 and a little bit to Gelato 2 to try and help with that yellowing. Also watering them a little bit less.
Other than that, WOW, the Banana Daddy's are looking fantastic. Banana Daddy 2 is a beast, I have a feeling her buds will be big and dense. Already getting frosty, some funky fruit notes at the moment from her. Banana Daddy 1 is also going strong!
Added some worm-castings as my soil was looking pretty dry and sad.
Moved apts and had to move the plants, that was stressful but I'm glad it's over!
Stop feeding them the gypsum as the plant that was yellowing stopped doing so.
Good luck on your grow sir. Looks like you have some patches of powdery mildew on a couple of your plants. The white mold looking spots on the leafs. Get that taken care of right away!
@Iheartcannabis, Lol it's actually dried out liquid bonemeal (phosphates) that I accidentally got on the plant when watering. I'll get the sprayer and just mist the girls off a bit. It's been bothering everyone but me apparently, the plants grower and keeper xD.
