Exciting first grow ever trying autos! Due to my past issues in overzealous watering habits, I have chosen coco coir as to offset my pathological overwatering habits. Tangerine dream is my favourite strain for its unparalleled terms and flavour profile, with its clean, uplifting everyday high. First tried it in Amsterdam 2010 and fell in love ever since. germinated directly in substrate with minimum watering and transparent dome.

The Tangy seems to be doing fine with no issues. Germinated fine and growing quite subtly and well.

OK: did my first bit of LST. lowered and stretched open the longest branches and the main stem so to allow better light penetration throughout to potential bud sites. As the rest of the grow tent is starting to also show calmat deficiencies, I preventively added some cal mag to the Tangie as well.

Explosion: almost overnight all the ladies have to doubled in size, and then some.... the full 4x4 is now filled completely and space management is starting to get difficult. I am noticing they are doubling in size every 36 hours now. The sheer growth is quite impressive. I can probably say that this is the true week of pre-flower: all colas are showing blooming pistils at each apex. Started to use some michorizae friendly additives to support the root growth.

Still updating on the LST every other day to adjust and optimise; The Tangie shows the first trichome structures with their distinctive tangerine and grapefruit sour and aromatic notes. I am noticing that the whole grow tent is showing signs of overfeeding. I will begin to both water to runoff at 30% from now on, but only after a long overdue flushing with neutral water in which I will check ppm's all over.

Trichomes are being produced all over. The recent cold spell in my area also helped to lower the temps by one degree, consistent with the mid flowering growth pattern. Bloom nutes are now used regularly with weekly flushing. I am noticing that the runoff ppm for several of them is 1800-3000+ (😱). I will amend the watering schedule, flush for an extra time per week and introducing a lower ppm feeding on alternate day to counterbalance. Across the whole tent the Tangie is the biggest and frostiest in terms of flowers. All of this despite some alarming high value in last week's ppm runoff (2250). It is finally down to 1400, which is still higher than my solution, but on schedule with a progressive cleanse since I first started to flush regularly.

Stopped LST completely and removed all the wires. defoliation is now a daily chore: it is growing to be a jungle in there, impacting light penetration and humidity all over. And when you start to think that everything went well:TAH DAH!!!!!! signs of mites! I panicked checkd all pots an, sadly they are affecting every plant. everything has been sterilised with bleach and cinnamon tea/ neem oil has been thoroughly sprayed and poured in every pot. I am tending to think they are compost mites: thy have not attacked any roots, they only gather on decomposing leaves and rotting stems in the soil. Not a single mite was noticed anywhere but the top soil and nowhere else. that been said: better them dead than me worried. I will continue with cinnamon tea and neem oil spray. My tangy seems the most affected one (mites), if "affected" could be a term to use. she is doing fine and pumping like crazy. she is darkening and covered in frosty nugs.

My crown jewel. Seriously, without being the monster grower that my other Moby dick auto is, she has been consistently doing her thing and pushing through any of my rookie's mistakes. The buds are swelling and getting covered in more and more trichomes each time the lights come on. The mite issue seems to be kept in check: topsoil daily misting of neem oil solution plus the use of atomised cinnamon in each feeding seems to be doing the trick. No leaf or bud has seen any mites so far, fingers crossed, and 3/4 weeks away from harvest I would like to keep it that way. It may very well be the case that they are compost mites and they are only feeding on decaying matter in the soil. I have increased the feeding schedule a little: knowing the she has been particularly sensitive on ph ad feed changes, I have kept it still relatively low considering these are the second or third to last week of feeding. ppm is at 1000 or lower; I could admittedly push it to 1400ppm right with intermitted lower days at 7/850ppm, but the last thing I would like to do is to fall into another nute lockout.

She still doing her thing. I have lightly increased the nutes to a full dose of nutes and she seemed to have taken it well but a faint burnt tips, almost too tiny too notice: I am at least glad I have finally witnessed the whole spectrum of how much she take take in feeding. The mite issue seems to be in check. nothing but the casual white mite having a stroll through the topsoil and absolutely nothing on the roos/stems/leaves/buds. She is fatting up beautifully: full of perky and ever growing sugar leaves and quite interesting bud sites. The terpenes are also becoming more of the distinctive tangerine dream we know of. witnessing the various stages of growth in this entire 4x4 grow tent, I will focus on less plants ( 2 max in 5gal pots) or will plant 5 in 3 gallon pots, next time. why all this? I am noticing it is become counterproductive having the tent literally so densely packed with 4 gorgeous plants. The Tangerine Dream in particular is not showing her full potential, she is performing greatly, and I wonder what she could have done given the whole tent for herself, but now I find myself with a semi developing plant that couldn't possibly receive any more defoliation. My fear was to not being able to fill the whole canopy and I not only achieved it, but it soon got out of control. The beautiful genetics from barney s farm are certainly a powerhouse in consistency and size (4 different ones in one tent, and all well above the average auto size you get researching and browsing out there). Will certainly either upgrade to a 12x8 or plant 1 or maximum 2 phenos per tent so to get the most out of them. Such I shame seeing so many underdeveloped popcorn buds to be just beneath the canopy that will never fully develop.

Alrighty then! we are in the very final stretch! Trichomes are now entirely cloudy for the most top canopy, the lower bud sites are still a good week behind. I am considering doing 2 harvests and let the lower canopy fatten up for a couple of more weeks. The water intake consumption has been visibly lower, resulting for an unusually damp coco after 24hrs and 3L solution. I changed to 1.5 litres only daily, still producing 20% runoff. The colas have pretty much doubled in size in the past week: I will keep feeding up until Saturday with a lower ppm feed solution, then a week to 10 days flushing with Cannaflush. Ideally I would refrain from harvesting anything higher than 10/15% amber trichomes, as I cherish tangie so much, last thing I would want is a sedative element to it. Will update as the week goes by as much as I can.

CANNA FLUSH - Canna

Well Well Well. we are almost close to chopping day. I have started flushing and planning to continue up until the 16/19th. after nearly 1 week I am noticing little to no nutrient deficiency signs in the plant. I can see a faint paling of the main fan leaves and light yellowing of the bare eyes of the smallest star leaves (top canopy only). So far I see no elegant pigment change I was expecting with the final stages of one of my plants. If that wasn't obvious by the look of this diary in particular, I can confidently say that she is my absolute favourite strain of all times, period. The smell and terpene profile is completely out of this world. The plant has now started to drink less: the coco medium is still visibly damp after 24 hours, may reduce watering to 1L a day. I can clearly gauge that we are in final 10days (at most). trichomes are 10% amber with a still large amount of cloudy. considering 2 weeks for flushing I should stop on the upcoming march 14th. then one final trichome check and then 36 hours of darkness with no water. Little update: I have now started to defoliate (more of a wet trim while still alive actually). I now have no fan leaves (both major and minor). I have kept all small and large sugar leaves and will contemplate doing some dry ice shake. If you have experience with trim and sugar leaves uses, do drop me a DM. Also I have snipped a tiny flower in the process: Oh well! I am already 7 days into flushing I might as well see at what stage we are in flavour profile before curing. I have set march 17th as dark period without water start date, 18th chop and dry until the 25th. Then cure for 3+ weeks.

Tangerine dream was, is and likely will be my favourite strain, PERIOD. first discovered ages ago on a trip to Amsterdam. I had several issues in terms of watering/nutes dosage vs plant age.... you name it. It was my first grow after all and she performed very well. I am sure the next 4 seeds left will be included in my new run. Just love everything about this strai, its resilience, its unique aroma. EVERYTHING. Get ready to embark on a citrus-infused journey of epic proportions with Barney's Farm Tangerine Dream Auto. This strain isn't just a dream; it's a juicy, tangy reality that's sure to leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle whatever the day throws your way. Why Tangerine Dream Auto? Let's peel back the layers of this citrusy delight, shall we? Tangerine Dream Auto is the lovechild of G13, Afghan, and Neville's Haze, resulting in a strain that's as potent as it is flavorful. With its autoflowering capabilities, you can kiss goodbye to the hassle of light schedules and say hello to a harvest that practically grows itself. It's like a tropical vacation for your grow tent, minus the sunburn and the questionable cocktails. The Nitty-Gritty: Now, let's talk about flavor. Tangerine Dream Auto is like a burst of sunshine in every puff, with notes of sweet citrus that dance on the taste buds like a flamenco dancer at a fiesta. It's the kind of flavor that's so mouthwatering, you'll find yourself reaching for the bong again and again just to experience it all over again. But here's the kicker: Tangerine Dream Auto isn't just delicious; it's also potent. With its balanced effects, you can expect a blissful blend of euphoria and relaxation that's perfect for kicking back and soaking in the good vibes. It's like a tropical sunset in a smokeable form - warm, inviting, and utterly sublime. The Comedy Corner: Now, let's talk about the name. Tangerine Dream Auto sounds like something straight out of a psychedelic fever dream, doesn't it? I can just imagine a group of stoners passing around a joint of Tangerine Dream Auto and suddenly finding themselves on a magical journey through a grove of citrus trees. It's like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but with weed instead of candy. Ok, finally gave the chop on week 14, day 2. She was banished in the darkness for 36 hours and stopped watering 2 days ago. Did some wet trim, up until the smaller sugar leaves, which I have left for some refining and final polishing dry trim, before curing. Will update on smoke report and flavour. Ok, so final weight after drying is 50g of top shelf bud, and about 50g more of popcorn buds and trim I shall use later on for a dry ice shake.

Wet is less messy but bud drys faster and can over dry loosing taste and smell. Dry trim is slower drying and can help retain more smells and tastse. I hang with trim on in sections. Then in a few days I like to clip all fan leaves off when they served their final purpose. Then final trim when dry. Is my method.

@Growpotkin, thank you, I have already scheduled the next 2 grow, that is how excited I am to do this all over again. I have been told that for being my very first rookie run it looks ok. They are all alive, all pumping, all in pretty ok conditions considering that massive nute burns and anything else in between. learning everyday with coco coir and wouldn't do soil no matter what. very pleased overall

@KingSalomonsWeed, excellent thanks! I am noticing my Tangie becoming quite ready: lots of cloudy trichomes and few clear. may wait until I see 10% amber just to be on the safe side. it will be super stressful to gauge the right time as it is my first grow ever.

Dann ernte.. Eine Woche Dünger. 2 Wochen Wasser und dann den Rest. Dann kommt da noch Ordentlich was nach.

@KingSalomonsWeed, I was thinking about doing a couple of harvests, as you suggested. Wouldn't harvest #1 shock the plant sop much that she wouldn't recover AND finish off the smaller buds?

Hey, friend looking good. Next time try and open up your temp gaps once the plants finish growing vertically. This will send extra energy into the budding process and resin production. So normally we want our temp gaps to be no more than 9 degrees less with lights off, At this stage, we want to open it up past that to 10 , 11 and more each passing week until harvest. Also simulating cloud cover with light deprivation and colder feed temps on the last week of flush will really help you get a nice craft cannabis look. Check out VPD, Vapor pressure deficit and how it relates to growing cannabis it is a great tool for all growers to utilize. All growers should be able to read a VPD chart and use one daily on their grow. Also, grab yourself a PAR meter & A thermal laser temp gun to better help you read your plants and grow to their needs. If you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me I am always willing to help out. Check out my 200 light 7,000 plant diary I just finished by posting up dry bud shots, I am currently working on a youtube tutorial series for all levels of growers. If that interests you subscribe to my channel it is linked off my growdiaries profile. Happy growing and great job!
