Germination
Seedlings seem happy in the rapid rooters, but it's frustrating not having insight into the progress of germination. Also a bit worried I planted #1 too deep / upside down, but not giving up hope yet. Update: #1 sprouted about half a day after the others, it decided to take the scenic route into the side of the hole in the rapid rooter and then up through the top :)

#1 sprouted about a day after #2 and #3, so all were moved to the tent. #4 growing straight up and reaching a bit, so I lowered the light from about 36" to 20", and seems to have helped. #3 is listing a bit, but I think it's due to the seed having been planted upside down. End of day #3 and substrate was dry, so gave them a bit of Dyna-Gro Foliage in the ratio of 1.4tsp per gal. My water is pretty hard, so mixing in some distilled water and the nutes helped get it to the right pH level. Once #1 gets slightly more established all of these will end up in their final 5 gallon cloth containers.

Big week! Nothing but standard growth happened for the first 10 days of being in the tent after transplant. Watering whenever topsoil was dry, which started at about once every other day and is now about once every 24-36 hours. Also added a couple clip on fans in the tent to improve airflow. HOWEVER, on day 18 plant #2 started to get some light intervenal chlorosis and by day 19 plants 1,2,4 were showing signs of this as well. Plant 3 did not appear to have any signs of IC, but the lower leaves were curling at the edges slightly and I could see some slight yellowing around leaf edges as well. IN RESPONSE, I moved the light up to a more recommended height, reduced the intensity slightly, and will be watering without nutes (tap water + pH down solution to hit about 6.5). My current hypothesis is a combination of some light stress + nute burn since the soil I am using is organic and partially compost based, so it likely contains everything the girls need. Looking back, definitely should have just given pH balanced water with how nutrient rich this soil already is. No need for super juiced plants on my first grow. Plenty of time for that :) #1 is still a bit smaller (one node fewer than 2&3, two less than 4), but the other 3 are really coming along will likely push out another node or two this week. Then it's time to think about topping!

What's going on with the intervenial chlorosis? Is it nute burn (zinc + manganese + iron potentially)? Is my proposed solution of only going with pH-balanced water a good mitigation strategy? Should I just not add super soil out of the gate?

Hi buddy, that's a clear cut case of PH. It's way too high and the swings must be huge too. Whatever you are feeding it's PH isn't even close to the water feeds that follow it, that's what's causing your mix match of probs and the shading inbetween is swings or 2 high a PH, but I'd put it down to a more unstable PH with massive swings in feeds. You need to lower your PH to 5.8-6.3max and your follow up water feeds/flushes need to be the same. Good luck pal.

Only photos I took were from earlier in the week, but made some changes to the environment. Raised the light height in stages to about 33" and lowered the intensity as there was some definite light burn happening. Was noticing some pH imbalance issues, so decided to stop feeding extra nutes and slightly lower the overall pH. Topping gonna start after a few more nodes.

Ton of growth the past 10 days or so. Intervenial chlorosis coming in hot, some crispy tips, and some drooping going on with most of them (except 3). This week I topped them up with some more soil, moved the light further up to about 36" from the shortest plant, and got a new pH meter to dial in my water pH, and bumped it down slightly to 6.3. I noticed plant 2 was praying so increased the light intensity. Think I waited a bit too long to top, but that is getting done after this journal entry. Think I might also start LST on plant 2 to keep the height more in line with her sisters. Temperature outside has been swinging wildly, so it's been a challenge to keep the tent at a consistent state but that should start to become easier as it gets warmer. Also been toggling the humidifier between low and off, as RH has stayed relatively consistent. Ok time to get to work!

Topped and LST'd immediately after last post. Learned a valuable lesson that I can definitely start a little earlier cause the large stems are tough to bend. Something to note for next time. But all plants have responded well to LST and topping, lots of new colas forming all over the place. Starting to think my soil was sitting out in the cold weather / store improperly too long before I purchased it. I shouldn't need to give any extra nutes with this soil, and it should have plenty of bacterial and microbial life happening, but my plants are saying otherwise. I'm going to test giving some of the NutraGro Bloom to half (1/2 concentration and low water amount to see how they respond), and recharge to all of them. Growth has been comparatively slow when I look at some other journals with similar conditions and strain. Also not super happy with the yellowing in the leaves, and burnt tips, but hopefully the combination of recharge and extra nutes will bring these girls back to their best selves.

Happy Harvest Day!

Hard to tell if this strain just doesn't grow a whole ton during veg, or if they were just really nutrient bound (likely the latter), but I have a couple seeds leftover I'm going to try again with. Buds got really purple by harvest time with some incredible aroma and incredibly sticky. 3/4 plants had good phenos, with one remaining a runt that hardly grew branch length.

A modest amount for my first grow and want to try again to see how this strain grows when its better taken care of. Learned a lot from this first grow, and a little disappointed with the volume but am excited to start again. Definitely know a lot more now about plants and going to avoid the mistakes I made the first time.
