Germ. Week - just a group of random fems go’n off with the latest run of clones. They’ll be 12/12 from seed essentially. Just testing out some newer and older genetics to see if anyones worthy of crossing. All cracked and on the grow👍.

Week 1 above ground and they’re all coming along fine. Little bit of nute burn on the tips - they’re sitting on the same rotation as the clones, getting a much higher strength ratio than they would otherwise. Still, seemingly doing just fine. Testament to Druid 100%. Good thing they’re versatile too - as much as we wanna see these grow up, they will always be tied directly to the needs of the F1’s beside them. Here’s hope’n that they keep the pace🤞. Background Just a fem run we were able to sneak in to the dutchy cabinet for some extra bud stock. Strain details as follows: QCS: this actually a strain of Alaskan Thunderfuck (Not AK47 as advertised). GD doesn’t have that info up yet. We’ve had it before but never grown it. I remember it being a decent and somewhat sedative indica. Blimburn: This chocolopez strain is very interesting. We’ve been waiting at least 5 years to grow something reminiscent of a chocolate Thai. This one should fit the bill there nicely. AMS: Their Borderliner strain caught my eye so we naturally had to… give it try! No matter how it turns out, this seed co. Has been nothing short of stellar to work with. We’ve got a whole bunch more of their stuff in the hopper for testing on the next cycle🤟. Smiling Tiger: This is an S1 of my buddies cross called Holy Surfer. Still haven’t seen it bud out in pollinated yet but the structure is classic skunk with a big primary cola, tight node spacing and exceptionally vigorous leaf production. The smoke should be interesting and the terp profile is very pungent and sweet.

Week 2 of veg. And proceeding smoothly for the most part. They didn’t overly suffer with the higher nute ratio which is a good thing. All of em are just getting their true legs for veg. Now and fan leaf maturity is showing. The only issue we have is with the Alaskan Thunderfuck. Her first true set of fans came out really wonky and knarled. Almost like they’d been damaged in the seed. We’ll see if she sorts it out or not this week. Just happy that we’ll have some additional variety this run. Until next week and some more boring veg. Shots😉✌️. Background Just a fem run we were able to sneak in to the dutchy cabinet for some extra bud stock. Week 3 of veg. In the books and they’re all motoring along nicely. The Alaskan Thunderfuck looks to be sorting itself out so we should have 4 plants for the chopping eventually. Just gotta get em there first. They’re showing no adverse reactions to the heavier nute feed at this stage of development which is yet another feather in the cap for Druid Berkana. I’m immensely impressed with this nute line. Just another boring week of veg. In the books. Can’t wait to see transition take over👍. Week 3 of true veg. In the books and a couple changes. We dropped the Alaskan Thunder Fuck, it just wasn’t coming around as we’d that it would. No knock on QCS here - just wanna give that plant a proper go with a solid, strong bean. We topped the borderliner and the cholopez too. They’re building too quickly so gotta slow em down a bit. The Holy Surfer… yikes 😳- this one almost fully damped off as a seedling and I never even noticed. She pulled through but will definitely be stunted. She may end up touch and go too given how much weight the main will eventually support. Probably wrap it in tape once we’re into the stretch, just to add some more support. Other than that, still waiting on em to start the tranny. Probably another week or 2🤞. Background Just a fem run we were able to sneak in to the dutchy cabinet for some extra bud stock. Week 5 of veg and hard to say what happens in the next couple weeks. We were hoping that we’d be entering flower under a 12/12 cycle but that’ll be delayed after we had to top the remaining 2 survivors for the sake of avoiding height issues early. We also lost the holy surfer this past week - her stem caught a weird sort of disease and the whole plant moved into flower early. It wasn’t going to be worth trying to salvage at this point so we chucked that plant too to make more space for everything else. Kinda sad to lose 2 of 4 at this stage but it is what it is and we have no time for stragglers eating up otherwise useful grow space. We’re down to the chocolopez and borderliner now. Both will probably need this week before we see any move towards the stretch but we can definitely expect some strong yielding plants there 100%👍👌👍. Changing the name to something other than “harem” - just doesn’t fit the description anymore…. ***update*** - this one just never found her feet, stunted and deformed growth that wouldn’t clear up. We pulled her in week 4 of veg. And we’ll give it another try when the grow sched. Allows….😞 Blimburn: This chocolopez strain is very interesting. The smoke should be interesting and the terp profile is very pungent and sweet. ***update*** - lost this one to a stem disease and she got the pull in week 5 of veg. So sad - we were really looking forward to giving this strain an honest test…😞

Week 6 of veg. No issues and they both have a somewhat lanky structure due to the start of stretch. The topping might’ve slowed em down a little but not much. Should keep the height manageable when they move to full flower.

Week 1 of official flower as the borderliner starts to show. The chocolopez is still stretching somewhat but definitely in transition. These two should ultimately end up as pretty well controlled plants. They’ve also now received the best spots in the cabinet due to a lighting snafu with the other F1’s. End of the day - no complaints and they’ve been mostly fix it and forget it since seed👍. Finally on to the flower show👌.

Through 2 weeks of the stretch and both plants are faring well. The borderliner has started showing earlier and we can expect this one to be pretty squat due to the topping. The chocolopez is a contrast though. Despite the topping she spent the entirety of this week continuing to stretch. Only barely showing late into the week. All is good - just continuing to wait on those photo worthy buds👌👍.

Third week of the stretch is over. The borderliner has still continued to run up which is really encouraging. Also getting some really cool variegation in the leaves. But the chocolopez, different story - she’s stretched hard, met the top of the canopy for the rest that are still finishing in the cabinet. She’s very very strong and stout. Should put out quite a bit of bud when alls said and done👍

Week 4 of flower and an all around good week. The borderliner is bulking up well with pronounced leaf variegation. Love this trait and all signs are pointing to a damn good plant. The chocolopez - same deal except she’s even stronger. Already starting to show prevalent signs of frost too👍.

Week 5 of flower and both girls are rounding out and frosting nicely. The Chocolopez is a winner plant, recovered well after topping and stretched to the max during the tranny. The borderliner less so but, she’s got all the hallmarks of a squat indica that should still bulk up nicely. Alls good here for now👌👍.

Week 6 and still flowering out nicely for both of em. They both project to be frost monsters and continue to thrive even as we cut back nute ratios to accommodate the other plants in the cabinet that are closer to harvest. Can’t say enough about how versatile Druids Berkana has been the last few cycles. Just great stuff all around. Alls still very good here👌👍.

Week 7 of flower and it’s been eventful that’s for sure. Tornado swept through town and knocked out the power for about 3 days. The girls had to be moved outdoors and manually watered… been waiting all week to see if they reveg and so far, no major signs of such🤞🤞🤞. The companion run in the cabinet was chopped this week and power is now back on so these girls have a nice big space to finish up in. We’re coming into week 8 now but I suspect that they’ll take a full 2 weeks more at least based on current development. Still gonna be 2 great plants if they don’t decide to move back into veg. 👍👌👍.

End of week 8 and all proceeding as per last week. Trichomes are rounding out and harvest window on both should be open in another week or so👌. The buds on both are now starting to ripen and density has come up markedly. I dare say the chocolopez is something special. Seems every time I grow a strain with those ducksfooted fan leaves it always ends up being a frost and terp monster. Anyhoo , should be smooth sailn to the finish now🤟

End of Week 9 and they’re still go’n. Trichs have taken a rather long time to turn over and could be as much as a further week before we see the end. Both are showing some wicked colours on the fade and density of the head buds is just insane. Not long now I hope.

Still waiting on the cure and chopped this girl down a couple days ago. She was very squat - didn’t stretch much at all after being topped. But for her small size, put out buds that were incredibly dense and large. Very happy with the outcome, a very manageable plant and she really had no issues the whole way through. AMS did well with this one. Smoke report to follow post-cure👌. Sorry about the photos - was rushing a bit past few days and didn’t have time to document the last days as much as I otherwise would’ve.

Happy Harvest Day!

Great plant minus the incredibly long flowering time at about 11 weeks. Deep rusting and purpling of the fans in late flower. It was topped like the borderliner and immediately flipped to flower. Unlike its companion plant however, this one recovered really really well and probably held off the stretch for an extra week as it repaired itself. The topping maintained her stretch and final height perfectly to fit the available headroom in the cabinet. The buds are extremely large, numerous and very dense as well. On the last week the stems just couldn’t handle it anymore and she started to topple👌. Have to say that these genetics are quite on point and we’ll likely have close to, if not more than 4oz post-dry. She’s on the dry now and smoke report will follow once we get through the cure a bit. Overall - it was a great option to squeeze into our last cycle and while we would’ve liked a shorter flowering period, that could also easily be due to the 12/12 light schedule and/or the topping which took place on the flip. Smoke report to follow.

6.2 is a little high for ph, 5.5-6 is where you should try to keep your ph for hydro, more around 6, because that is the best ph for nutrient uptake. The edges of your leaves are a little curled down, is why I'm saying it, it looks like it's having a hard time uptake nutrients. Other than that, it looks nice and healthy green!
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented3 years ago
@Professor_Chaos, if it works for u, then it works for you bud👍. And yes - a ph of 6.2 (as a general rule) is the precise wheelhouse that you want most of your plants enjoying. Absolutely. that said, I’d still defer to my previous response to the original comment that ph is not an exact number. Especially in any hydro medium (which would include coco). Similarly, not every strain is going to uptake nutrients optimally at just a 6.2 measure. It may seem like it if you’ve got your system dialed in but, in reality - there are swings in ph level within the medium all the time that aren’t measured and too many additional factors (such as water quality and tds/ec) that act to counter initial calibration. That’s why I always tell people to worry about the range and not a specific number. Identifying the appropriate range based on your unique conditions is the trick - for which it sounds you’ve figured out. For me and my enviro and water - I can run at 5.7-6.5 with no discernible issues at any time. If ph and tds are on point in that range, then most of the issues that people diagnose as a ph problem is usually and actually some other problem entirely. Cheers

Professor_Chaoscommented3 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, I grow in coco and noticed that 6.2 seems to be the magical number for me. Especially when it comes to calcium uptake.. I run my ENTIRE grow at 6.1-6.3.. i even check runoff to make sure its still in that range.. if not, Ill water higher or lower to bring it back to 6.2-ish. I had a failed hydro attempt and pH seemed to be the issue.. i would set it at 5.5 or 5.8 and would see horrible leaf damage to the point I had to transplant into coco to finish the run. But when I keep it 6.0 to 6.2, they grew like they are supposed to in hydro. Fast! But thats just my 2 pecos on the situation. Enjoy the grow! Looks promising!

TheBudWhisperercommented3 years ago
@WishiFishi, I’m not sure where you’ve gathered this info on ph levels but it “ranges” from somewhat misleading to outright false. PH levels in a solution will vary significantly over time and through other changes in the substrate. Measuring ph only provides a measure of the level at an exact point in time and this can differ in huge amounts over just 12hrs in a hydro medium. Trying to bench mark a constant ph of 6 is folly. Additionally, the suitable ph “range” for cannabis in a hydro medium is actually wider - closer to 5.5-6.5 with extreme tolerable swing ranges of 5-7 over shorter time periods. What you’re seeing in the leaf curl on the ATF is more than likely mechanical damage as a result of a poor crack on the seed casing at germination. Any other leaf issues less significant than that on any of these others would boil down to regular cycle veg. Growth. Not trying to be harsh here - just making the point that far too many people rely on digital PH pens to tell them exactly what ph levels are in a solution to the decimal. Truth is, you’re $30 ph pen is throwing out measures that are already likely off by as much as 0.5 at any given time. If not calibrated almost every usage - you will get very inaccurate readings from day to day. I haven’t used one of those in over 2 years.

@Dirty_Hippy, k - that’s good to know cuz the flower time was definitely extended from the norm. Smoke report is as expected too👌. Real strong, heady, good initial body buzz and pretty hard come down. I liken it to fb gorilla cookies somewhat in those respects. Solid all round - may use a bean for breeding. Maybe cross it with some sugar breath. That would be a match made in heaven.

@Dirty_Hippy, dude - again, thanks for the beans. The chocolopez is now in the jar and on the cure. Obviously haven’t tried it yet and can already say that this one is worth a second run based on terps alone. Frost as thick as a snicker and a gassy smell that’s even persisted through drying. It’s gonna be an awesome smoke. Didn’t weigh but figure around 4oz on a 12/12 with a 3 week veg. Long flowering time at 10ish weeks but totally worth it👌👍👊

Very nice! I noticed when I do 12/12 from seed, if topped soon enough, it can add another week or so to veg before she flips herself finally. I could be wrong, but in my opinion it may notice this stress and work from it.. but if its too close to flowering, she will ignore it and just flower. Again, I could be wrong, but thats kinda what have noticed. Great job! They are lookin nice! 👍

@Professor_Chaos,thanks for the comment and the look dude! As below on the other thread - the issue of topping and recovery is very much strain dependent. These 2 plants were treated exactly the same right up to the flip but you can tell that they both reacted differently due to differences in their entry to transition. The chocolopez took to topping and recovered without issue, probably giving itself an additional week of veg. At the same time. The Borderliner however, actually suffered from it and had to force its recovery while attempting to enter full flower at the same time. It is what it is and I can’t blame either plant for what it’s done under these conditions. Just happy that they’ll both pull more than an oz. Given where maturity is at right now. On a 12/12 from seed with a topping during transition - that’s a good outcome any day👌👍.
