36 hours in the water cup, then in a paper towel for 2 days, then into the soil. Last time I put the taprooted seed into a solo cup with 50/50 peat/soil, this time I put the rooted seed straight into the 1gal pot with Happy Frog soil. Erupted 3-10-22
Seems like she took her time establishing roots. Now that the first set of leaves are growing at a decent pace, I think her growth will slowly turn exponential anytime.
So far so good. She’s got a stout stature so I think the light’s at a good distance. Last watering was about 75ml and she's getting thirsty around every three days
She’s a bit small, but looks healthy so I’m alright with that for now. Probably because she went straight in a 1gal pot instead of a solo cup first. Lights are now 24”
Seems likes she likes the lights closer. One more node to go and then I’ll top or fim her.
Still growing well everyday. FIM’ed Monday evening, pinched her a little low but I’ll still call it a FIM. I think her roots are sturdy enough to handle this stress, so I expect to see growth continue in a day or two.
LST on Tuesday. She’s already regrowing—awesome. We’ll see if she takes the training as a top or a FIM.
She’s got one funky leaf but the rest look good, so I’ll disregard. Side branches beginning to grow well. Always keeping up with lst
Looking good so far. The main stem has resumed growth and looks like two new heads will emerge, maybe I did more of a top job. Probably will up-pot and start feeding light this week.
Got back from family visit over Easter and she grew a bit. Definitely time for an up-pot so got that done on Sunday. Feeding will probably start this upcoming week.
Transplant seems to do well on her. I’ll start tying down branches tomorrow. One side is about where I’ll have it and I’ll stretch the other side to fill that portion of the tent.
Just ran a wire across half the pot, easy peasy lst.
Got a new full spectrum LED. Growth should take off now. Acclimating her by putting it around same distance but at 80% luminance. Ill start pruning when the branches get a bit taller
Light lowered a bit and at 100% strength. She likes it.
Growing well. Will probably taper down the hours of light this week and have her seeing 12 hours by next week. Started low dose of nutrients last week, will keep up with it for now, might switch to the lighter of the two bloom feed.
Continuing a little lst to fill out the space. Uneven canopy but since it’s in the shape of a ramp, and the tent is small with the close light, I think it’ll do just fine. She might be a little nute burned so I’m going to hold off on feeding for a week or so and reassess.
Tips still telling me to hold off on feeding. We’ll see when we continue. It’s a fem seed, but always nice to see female preflowering.
Still looking good. Tips are a little burnt, slight light green edges, but nothing too serious.
Entering the flowering transformation nicely, I can see her branches get bushier every day.
She’s looking healthy and bushy, busting out of the tent. I’ll probably defoliate her lower third leaves in a few days since she seems to be smooth sailing into the flowering stage. Will probably start giving her very light amounts of P and K next watering.
Decided to unzip my tent and open her up a bit to give the plant more room. I rather have a half open tent still reflecting light on a bigger plant than prune her to fit the 1.4 foot width of the closed tent.
Clipped a bit around the bottom, will do more defol soon.
Looking beautiful. Some leaves up top telling me to raise the lights, so I bumped em up a few inches. Watered on Monday, but next watering I’ll give her a little bloom feed. More defoliation this weekend probably.
Did a little defol. Probably will do a bit every few days for one or two more rounds
I think enough time has passed since her nute burn, her metabolism is ramping up so I’m starting to feed her again lightly. Just a splash of Tiger Bloom in her water.
Tips slightly brown and yellow, thinking from nutrients rather than light, but keeping an eye out. Might defol a bit again in a couple days. Still think she looks pretty good overall.
Defoliated 1/3 to 1/2 of the branches Wednesday, she looks healthy Thursday. PP has taken to defol well in veg and flower thus far
Gone for a long weekend, came back to her looking a bit light and yellow. Thinking Phosphorus def or nute lock. Fed her some big bloom then decent amount of ro water some hours later
Her smell is getting stronger and leaves are getting frostier. Shes drinking more water, and gave her some big bloom. Tips are slightly brown but after a little flush last week I figured I’d feed her some mild strength nutes. Still think she’s loose enough to keep humidity in low 50’s.
Starting to slowly lower rh
Some of the outer branches are starting to droop—gotta get the bamboo stakes going in the next couple days
Stakes in. Thirsty today and she drank a whole more watering can than usual. With lights now on 11/13 schedule her metabolism is surely ramping up. Hopefully I can keep her fed happily throughout the next handful of weeks.
Always a roll of the dice coming back from a long weekend, but she looks great. Buds and stigmas maturing nicely, hopefully she packs on some weight in the upcoming weeks. Looking better after Big Bloom feeding. Hoping some purple comes on soon too
Like how she’s steadily packing on the weight; constantly having to slightly adjust the ties. Glands are getting more plentiful too—awesome.
Checked up on the trichomes. Mostly clear with some cloudy, one or two ambers total I saw. She’s got a few weeks left I’d say
Got some advice to trim the fan leaves, but I don’t think they’re shading budsites nor impeding air flow, I think I’ll keep them. So far so good, gonna try to remember to open my window at night to give her cooler temps than she’s been getting, hopefully simulate more fall-ish weather and bring out her purple hues.
Plumping up very slowly, but all those resin glands are beautiful.
Keeping up with re tying the wires, she keeps weighing down the branches. Not going for aesthetics on the tying lol. Sugar leaves getting amber and bracts are mostly cloudy with a few clear glands. Thinking 2ish more weeks.
Trying to maintain temps at low 70s F to stimulate that purple color. Trichomes looking awesome and plentiful. Hoping the buds fatten up in next weeks
Looks like I’ll have to chop her by July 6th for circumstances I can’t control :/ but her trichs look close now, so I’m hoping a July 6th chop won’t be a killer on potency.
Leaves fading and the buds are looking very frosty with pretty nice overall width. Coming down on 7-6-22 probably. Trichomes looking cloudy and the smells are a strong fruity spicy aroma. Can’t wait to dry this girl.
Chopped lady purple on 7-6-22. Smells sweet and citrusy and looks frosty as winter. Will update harvest page soon.
Barney’s Farm Purple Punch is a dazzling spectacle covered with trichomes and fills the air with a strong sweet and somewhat spicy aroma. Buds are not rock solid but definitely not airy. Very productive plant; I weighed after 11 days of drying and yielded about 5-6 ounces on this single 2 foot tall plant. Will update the smoke report once the herb has finished curing.
This Purple Punch is easy to grow and shows her progress to you nearly every day. Finished flowering slightly after the timeframe Barney’s listed, but that’s no problem, each seed is different. These branches are tough to trim neatly with all the trichomes making everything so sticky! Dried in a nice amount of time, just shy of two weeks. Smells and flavor really developed over the long cure.
Im going to do a big crop of this strain next year, taking clones of her and such, i wish i could smell it, its going to be a big surprise everything im always nervous to start a new strain im used to blue dream so much, is it sweet smelling like some kind of gas or more like white widow? I grew forbidden dream once from humboldt seeds man that was the best smell ever the pruple pheno… i wish purple punch here has that kind of smell and taste that was so unique and amazing, its crazy i will only know exatctly what you smelled here once i got my own haha damn why cant we explain smells
@Lazuli, definitely grab a pack with a few seeds of this one. Most dominant smells are citrus, pine, and gassy. Excellent flower for smoke or even concentrates since she’s covered in trichomes
