Soaked seeds for 48hrs then placed directly into 5 Gal pots. Both sprouted and seem healthy. pH of water 6.3. No nutrients.

So far so good. Betty seems a bit slow out of the gate and Vanna is doing great. Vanna seemed to be reaching a bit initially so I lowered the light from 24inches to 18 inches. Also added some fans for airflow and to help strengthen the stems.

Betty is not growing up while Vanna seems to be going well but seeing some yellowing spots on leafs and starting to curl a bit. Moved the lamp to 24inches and changed light to 18/6 so hopefully will see some improved growth. Wondering what to do about the yellowing leafs.

Lots of healthy growth this week. Started LST on both plants. Mostly just trying to guide top growth in a bit of a spiral. Realizing that using the 5 gal bags without enough soil to fill the bag isn’t ideal for crafting LST anchors. Will probably try out 3 gal bags for my next grow. Still not adding nutrients but might start next week as things start to transition into flower.

Fungus Gnats started to creep in. Placed some sticky traps and going to let both plants go a couple extra days without water to help stop the problem. Also going to add a cider vinegar trap and considering doing a wash with a hydrogen peroxide mix to help kill any larva but that might be a few days. Recently just started adding nutrients. Started really light with just 0.5 grams/L of Bergman’s Flowertime and 1ml/L of cal mag. Both plants seemed to have responded positively and will continue to feed every 7-10 days.

Starting to get nice. My light foliar spray and DE seems to have the fungus gnats under control. I see a few every now and then but certainly not as bad as last week. Vanna is developing dark brown spots, particularly on larger fan leaves. Reddit is telling me to flush because of salts building up around the roots. I’m nervous to flush my biggest plant. Will post some photos and take any advice I can get. All things considered progress seems solid.

Hello, Seeing lots of brown spots developing around middle tier leaves. Reddit is telling me I should flush with 15 gallons of water to get rid of salts around the roots. That seems extreme but if that’s the cure I’d like to know more and can I use my tap water (7.1pH 133ppm)?

Looks like they need calcium. I would up the bloom nutes and feed some cal mag. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Had to leave for 4 days so missed last weeks posting. And my plants missed a watering by about 48 hours. I got back and some pretty severe yellowing and brown spots on my larger plant, I’m guessing it started eating itself. Fed them right away with 3.5G per gallon of bergmans flowertime. Will be able to keep up with regular watering from here on out so should be all set.

I had to leave for 4 days this past week. Gave both plants H2O before leaving but I came back and one of my plants has some ugly yellow and brown leaves. Do I need to do anything to correct this or just get back to my routine feedings?

This isn't just a watering problem... you've got definite signs of nitrogen toxicity so my recommendation is that you flush... Check the PH of your runoff as you do this to make sure you're getting it to end up between 6.0 and 6.5... then, when you feed, cut your nutes in half for the first go-round... if there has been any lockout, the plant will need a gentle reintroduction to the nutes. btw... you don't tell us what amount of nutes your giving them... if you're still giving them grow nutes, back off on them and stop them next week... they usually contain far too much nitrogen for the flowering stage! Good luck! Keep us posted!

Really starting to frost up now. Vanna is showing some pretty loose and hairy buds while Betty seems to be denser and the hairs are turning darker much faster. Hoping I can have them both finish around the same time but my intitial thought is that Betty is going to finish at least a few weeks earlier.

All seems to be going well. Betty is really frosty and Vanna seems to be getting chunkier but not as frosty. Will probably harvest Betty first around week 12 if she doesn’t show signs of chunking soon. Bergman’s plant boost is supposed to promote the chunk so thinking one more week of that and then starting my flush weeks after the last feeding on week 10. Will probably keep feeding Vanna though. She still got a lot of white hairs that I’m hoping develop into fatter buds. Might push her all the way to week 14 as ILGM says 10-14 week life cycle. Wish me luck as I hope I’m not pushing Betty past her prime.

Hello. My plants seem to be growing at different rates and I’m worried about pushing the faster developer past her prime. I’m at week 9 and ILGM says 10-14 weeks. Should I start my flush or go another week with nutrients and harvest around week 12?

hey there Colonel, i gotta disagree with my growmies on this one. First off pistills dont tell you anything about the ripeness of a plant. the only thing "brown hairs" tells you is that the membrane of the pistil has degraded and oxidized. So its not an indicator of anything. Same story with the breeder timeline for the plant. just ignore that. The only thing that counts is the trichomes, thing is you need greater magnification on them, something like 50 or 60x magnification to really see. And it's the only way to tell. With white widow you're aiming for week 12 week 13 for a harvest, but it could be a bit longer or shorter depending. Just be patient growmie, right now it looks like it's almost ready, but actually it's the lack of magnification - all the trichomes look white unless you reach 40-50x... It's the most boring part of the grow right now, just be patient and make sure it's ripe before the chop. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Well last feeding was Tuesday so will be all water from here out. Excited to cut these ladies down soon. Two weeks of flush and I’ll let them do their thing. If I see anything going wrong I may cutdown early or I may chop Betty a week before Vanna to see if I get any differences. We had a hot week last week but they seem to be fine. Heat got to about 85 last Saturday but it cooled down quickly at night. Here they are. In all their glory.

All flushed and ready to chop. Pulled some of the more dead fillings off so it doesn’t cause mold or anything. Chop tomorrow and will dry in my basement in tent hopefully meeting the temp and humidity requirements but should be close. I I have a humidifier so that should be ok but summer temp is more difficult to control. Excited to close out this grow, get down with some summer outdoors on deck now, and in 6 weeks really enjoy this smoke. Wish me luck on harvest.

All in all it was a good trip. I’m glad I started with a classic strain that I’m excited to experience but I’ve recently purchased some exciting Mephisto strains that I’m much more excited about. Looking for some fruitier more potent terp heavy strains to get some more flavor.
