Heavy defoliation was needed to get some airflow going. Took off 30-40% of the lower leaves.
Will give her a week or so to recover, then think about switching the lights over for bloom.
Removed all the tent hooks. Will add more as or if needed.
First week of flowering on a 12/12 cycle with explosive growth.
Defoliated lower 7-14 inches of plants and nipped future larf buds.
Top dressed with 2tsp of kelp meal this week. Next week will be worm castings (top dressed) and the following week with bloom nutrients.
Gave it a good soaking with calmagged water and Mammoth microbials.
California Light work's Solar Extreme 250 around 10" above the canopy.
All is well! 💚
Probably a great week to scrog, but I am going to let her just bloom.
Added some kelp meal and microbials to the al-magged and ph'd water.
If you are wondering that is an old school fly trap which has been a sticky end for the fruit flies.
Caught the start of what looks like a nutrient deficiency. Gave the plant a good soaking with a cal-mag and microbial solution.
Will start adding molasses to the mix this week.
Got some nice fluorescence popping in the upper half of the plant.
Top dressing a little (2tsp) 4-4-4 NPK, just for safety as some of the leaves are lightening in color. Probably too much water, but I will let her dry out too.
Got a lot of great spears/cones developing.
Very light defoliation.
Might have overfed and over watered a little last week. So just giving the ladies cal-magd water with microbials and see how that goes.
Starting to notice the buds ripening up as soon as I get into the house. So, time for the carbon filter to do it's work.
Enjoying this amended coco coir grow as it really is not a lot of work in the same way as hydro was, but enjoying the discipline needed for hydro grows.
Chewing lots of hash off my fingers. Lavender soapy taste. Nice and sticky.
Took down 4/5 of the plant. Leaving the remaining 1/5 to ripen under a led and supplemental UV light. Probably, another good dry ounce on the chopped down.
Onto the drying. Had a lot of success with drying using brown paper bags hung up in a well ventilated room (52-53RH). Will use this same method again, but I now can measure the moisture levels in each spear with a new tool.
Chopped the remaining lower fifth of the plant as it has not ripened by the 'first' harvest.
Picked off all the leaves and lower, sugarless, tiny leaves while they were still in the plant. Then, stripped the buds off with a cupped hand from bottom to top. It was fast!
Finding the terpenes on the first harvest coming back strong early into the cure (one week) which is the first time that has happened. The only thing I did differently is use a humidity probe on the bud stems to monitor the drying process very carefully.
There must still be a load of chlorophyll in these buds, but no wet hay or grassy smell after the first week. I am astounded and happy!
@Growin_it, doing just fine man!! I'm definitely going to bump over and take a peek! Canopy's nice & level..
I'm eager to see these shoot up, I'm quite inspired 😎
@Roberts, Cheers! I have been a bit more aggressive with my training and defoliation lately. Until now, I didn't really know how quickly the plant recovers. It is amazing! 💚
